Has anyone seen the #speakupnow hashtag on Twitter? It’s fans sharing this open letter to Taylor about how she shouldn’t date Matty. And there’s a video I saw where a fan said attendees of the tour have a “contract” with Taylor when they buy tickets and that means she shouldn’t have Matty on stage. It’s on the @speakupnow_13 account (edit- account has been deleted)

I don’t like Matty but I find it very strange behaviour from the fans. Maybe I’m too old to understand it

In some ways it is strange behaviour but I can see why people are upset. I’ve seen a lot of fans, particularly those who are POC, be really disappointed in her.
In the end, she’s always tried to portray herself as left leaning, and spoken up about feminism, and yet she’s dating a guy who looks down on minorities, makes racist comments and gets off on black women being degraded.
It’s hard to support her at this point. I’ve been a fan since ‘06 and have always backed her through everything, even snakegate in 2016, but I won’t this time

Most people go through their rebellious bad boy phase in their late teens or early 20s so to see Taylor doing this in her 30s is hilarious.
She couldn't have picked a more gross guy (behavior wise) for a rebound.
I don't think she'll come away from this unscathed. BuzzFeed etc are doing write up's on his horrible behaviour including the porn stuff. And then there seems to be fluff articles about them which Tree is probably putting out there.
Taylor has said it herself a few times but I think she needs to grow up (I never grew up, it's getting so old. I have this thing where I get older but just never wiser).

Taylor is a deep thinker the same way “Live. Love. Laugh” is the new Beatitudes, and she couldn’t date him privately because that would defeat the point of dating him altogether. She is that girl in high school who would “pretend date” her gay friend for the mutual benefit of boosting their respective street cred, and spend all their time alone together devising strategies to make people believe they are fucking. It’s hilarious to see that for all her success and for all her money she is forever stuck in the same teenage mentality.

I remember Jake doing an interview and I can't remember if he actually referred to ATW10 or was just hinting at it, but I'm sure he said something like he believes artists should be free to use their experiences in their art but when they see their fans going too far they should have a responsibility to not encourage people piling on someone.

It's tricky as I do see it as treat someone badly and you deserve what's coming to you, but is it fair and where is the line? It's so different compared to a normal person going and telling their friends what a guy did wrong, you're not putting them on blast to the entire world and then doing it all again 10 years later lol.

I LOVE ATW and I'm not saying she shouldn't have written it. I guess it's the fans who go too far that are the problem. So whether or not that is Taylor's responsibility is blurry.

I understand that lines are blurry. However she manipulates the media when it’s convenient for HER. She isn’t like just another celebrity on the street. She feeds and feeds off of the Swifties.

I agree that she is not obligated to ask her fans to calm down and stop insulting her exes.

It’s a moral thing to do. The human thing to do. I ll leave it at that.

This is really REALLY starting to piss me off! We don’t know what happened all we can take from that song is she wanted more he didn’t i wish people would stop hating on an ex of hers just because they split…like I said yesterday Joe was there for her during her worst time, let’s be honest a time that could have broken her entire career and he didn’t give a shit about any of it!!

Also the song gives off the vibe that she’s really bad at communicating too.
Relationships break down all of the time, and it doesn’t mean either person is bad or in the wrong.

Surely they spoke about marriage at some point and knew each others views on it? Do we reckon Joe was always had a “I don’t care about marriage” stance and Taylor thought she could change him and played down how important it is to her at first? Very interesting.

It’s very possible he wasn’t against marriage but over the relationship realised he couldn’t marry her. That sounds harsh and like I’m blaming her but clearly it just wasn’t right for him forever.

Peoples parasocial relationships are scary. Yes, Matty sucks and Taylor is fully aware and still dating him, but were they really under the impression that she was a good person?
I love her music and have been a fan since ‘06. But you don’t get to her level of fame by being a good person.
Ultimately she’s never cared about issues unless they directly affect her.
I don’t think many A list celebs are truly decent people
