Judging from what her mother did to her place, I’m assuming the renovation they are doing are not just an extension somewhere and a new tiles in the bathroom. They’re probably working on some huge architectural project.

With Zak, I get the idea he’s simply following Jess and is therefore putting his career second. Like when he was a chef, she may have complained that they never had time together anymore. He really should have finished his degree though. What a shame.
ive always assumed that she wanted him to work for her, to keep him to herself - when he was a chef she seemed super lost and was always complaining that he was out working so I wasn’t surprised when she announced he’d be quitting to help her. Insane that theyearn enough for both of them from afew videos though 😳

was he unemployed as a result of covid? Thats awful news if thats the case and incredibly awful about her mum.

im astonished that she hasnt done anything with her degree and masters or gone on to do something great. Back when I watched her at uni i always got the impression she would go on to do great things and be successful

what is it her mum does that means she can fund jess’ lifestyle
No, I believe he left to be her personal joey before Covid.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong..

I hate when influencers say "This part of the video is sponsored by x". Um, no, that's not how it works. It's so misleading to her audience.

I wonder what Zak would do if he and Jess broke up. How would he explain the gap in his resume to his employers?
"My ex girlfriend forced convinced me to edit her videos for her while she reads books all day long and take cringy shots of her doing mundane things around London".

Anyone else think it’s a bit rude to comment congratulations like this? Maybe I’m wrong but clearly this is something she isn’t going to share? I saw a LOAD of these comments like 20 + but there all gone now so she’s obviously deleting them!!
I think so too! Unless someone announces it it’s rude! What if she isn’t and she’s just put some weight on? What if she’s having problems with her pregnancy? It’s just inappropriate

I hope she doesn't become a mummy blogger, that's not the content that I signed up for. I want to see her mum's nice house and their nice things :ROFLMAO:

Just caught up on the pregnancy speculation, I wasn’t aware of it before, though I did notice she’d gained a bit of weight. I would personally find it really bizarre if she actually is pregnant. She doesn’t strike me as the type of person who’d have a child ‘out of boredom’ because she has nothing else going on, for lack of a better term. And as someone else mentioned, she isn’t particularly maternal either.

In any case, for the last two years she clearly finds her half assed “influencer” lifestyle to be unfulfilling. She’s progressively looked more and more bored and unhappy with her life. I think she’s just directionless but lacks the motivation to break out of her laziness because she doesn’t have the financial pressure or urgency. She talked ages ago about writing her own fiction. If I were in her financial position, I’d love to take those couple years after her MA to write and publish a novel, but she doesn’t give off the impression of doing anything at all with her days...

I totally understand why she has chosen to keep this private. I personally don’t blame her tbh I would do the same. It’s no ones business at all and not everything needs to be shared online.

All I can say is I hope the best for her and her family.
I'm not trying to contradict your post, but she's the one posting clues, pregnant pumpkins, obvious photos, and captions that hint at a pregnancy, so she must know that people are going to speculate?

She's a vlogger, after all, she chooses to put her private information out to the public for a living. It can't all be easy money and flattering comments without any cons, just like any other job out there.

Really interesting discussion. The thing about Jess in particular though, is that her money, privilege, and endless days of doing nothing largely don't come from working as an influencer; it all comes from her family's wealth. She doesn't need PR freebies and hardly does any sponsorships these days. Being able to afford a house and to travel around the world (pre-Covid), etc., are all because of her family. She's not selling us an 'influencer's lifestyle' since she didn't attain her lifestyle through being an influencer, and it's impossible to 'sell' family wealth; either you have it or you don't. She's just showing us how the upper-middle/upper class lives. There's nothing that suggests she would be doing anything much differently with her life if she weren't on Youtube, which is why she's a bit separate from many other influencers. It's also what drew me into her uni vlogs, because her Youtube was only a part of her student life that she would be living regardless of documenting it or not.

I used to follow other fashion/lifestyle youtubers as a high school/undergrad student so I could live vicariously through them and imagine what kinds of nice things I could buy when I make my own income. But coming out of undergrad and now in my graduate studies, except for Jess, I've unfollowed all of the fashion influencers I used to watch because their values and consumerist lifestyles just don't align with my values anymore. Because there's nothing there to aspire to or look up to, I don't find any entertainment in it either. I also have a good enough idea of my own fashion tastes/styles that I don't feel the need to constantly look for daily/weekly 'inspiration' via influencers. Plus most of them honestly have sub-par tastes at best. I can be envious for their material wealth, but a lot of them seem to live fairly empty, superficial lives. Other than financial stability, there's not much else to be jealous of or interested in -- and that's very much how I feel towards Jess. I only follow her out of morbid curiosity of when she's going to put her life together or do anything with that MA of hers. If it weren't for keeping up with these threads that are more entertaining than her actual videos, I might have already unsubscribed by now.

I hardly ever have a fresh start on Mondays. I usually start by finishing up shit I didn’t have the energy for on Friday and then I said to myself I would do it on Sunday, but then on Sunday I told myself I’d set my alarm early and finish it first thing on Monday. But then on Monday I have a hard time getting up and the morning starts with a race against the clock t make up for Friday.

Yeah and it sounds like a really stupid, half-assed excuse. Not every comment even warrants a response to the same degree. The comments that ask questions should be answered in priority, while comments that just say "cool vlog!" obviously don't necessarily need to be replied to as much. She doesn't even bother "liking" the comments (which literally takes two nanoseconds). And let's be honest, it's not like she has high traffic and a ton of comments to go through. She doesn't get many at all.

She already shares so little of her life with her audience (we basically don't know anything at all), so if she doesn't even bother to interact with her viewers via comments about the content she does put out...then what's the point? Thought the whole point of Youtube is that creators get to connect directly with their audience -- otherwise, if we wanted a strictly one-way thing, we would just watch TV.
Exactly. I find it a bit odd. A lot of the comments are asking questions and she definitely has time to answer. I just find it quite hollow when youtubers refer to their audiences as 'you guys' and 'you guys are so supportive' and 'you guys are the reason I get to live this life' but they don't even bother interacting with their audience any more than that. Just makes their gratefulness seem performative.

I'm starting to find her posts about using a lack of inspiration as an excuse for not posting really insulting. Guess what, not all of us have iNsPiRaTioN to show up to work every day, Jess. And yet we still do.

To be clear, I don't blame her for not posting much considering her mom's condition. But why bother commenting about your lack of inspiration every week or so? We get it by now.

It's all about the validation. She continues doing this because she likes the instant gratification of people doing nothing but supporting her (if you look at most of her socials she doesn't get a lot of criticism compared to sites like tattle). She probably won't quit because rich people are stingy and love getting free things even if they can afford to pay for it. Like I get the whole feeling of disappointing people but I don't think that affects her that much because she continues to just put out mediocre videos and posts. I don't know to me she was never really that creative, she just had enough money to be able to buy interesting pieces but she never styles them in an interesting way it's like just basic styling. Even her earlier vids there wasn't much interesting going on, it was very much on trend. I don't know to me if you have all this money buy cool things, try different styles, do something different, not the same old same old you see everywhere.

I'd be interested to know what everyone thinks the future is for influencers? I've seen people say on Tattle that they think the 'job' will die out because followers are getting fed up with it. Personally, I can only see it getting bigger.
I agree that the ‘influencer’ market will grow, but it will also evolve. I think YouTube influencers are dying out - but insta / TikTok ads are where the money is.

Like any industry, you’ve got to adapt and change as it grows and develops. I can see a lot of ‘old school’ YouTubers not bothering, or not being able to translate their following to other platforms.

Every single vlog is "a bit of an unproductive" day or week. She always says it as if it's like an exception and the next day/week is going to be different, but it's clearly HER WHOLE LIFE. I don't remember a single vlog (in the past few years) that actually was "productive." She needs to wake up and realize she's wasting her life away! Do her family members not see it? Do they not tell her? It's even more striking when she does weekly vlogs because you can tell she literally hasn't accomplished anything in her whole week. When it's an odd vlog of one day you might think it was just like a random off day in her week that she didn't do much, but when she's vlogging every single day for a whole week/month and nothing comes out of it, it becomes obvious and just undeniable. It's frankly infuriating at this point. It's crazy to me that someone could post hundreds of vlogs that solely consist of herself in bed talking to the camera. I rarely watch her videos anymore but every time I do 90% of it is literally just her sitting in her bed in front of her blue walls and before/while/after reading. She never vlogs outside (if she does it's just 10 seconds of slow-mo images with music over it), never vlogs anyone else but herself (she seemingly never sees friends anymore? and her family and Zach clearly don't want to be on camera, which is fair enough but frankly boring as fuck), and never does anything at home either except read and talk about what she's reading. What. Is. The. Point.

Also, she's CONSTANTLY out of breath.

Always bugs me how she *never* interacts with viewers. Back in the day she had some BS about not responding to comments because she would feel bad if she couldn't respond to each and every one. Like, please, she gets under 50 comments on each video and not each one necessitates a response, some just need a "heart". I'm not saying she owes anything to her viewers, but her lack of responses probably drives down the interaction on her videos and my understanding of the YT algorithm is that interaction on videos is key. Plus, how hard is it to take a few seconds to respond to simple questions about your earrings or music selection or whatever?

Jess is not your typical influencer because she would never have to work hard or work at all to have a nice luxurious life. She comes from a rich family. Period. This is how the world is, always has been. Some people are born into money & they will never have to work. It's unrealistic to compare ourselves to them. They just got lucky. She doesn't have to do jack shit to buy a house in London, and that doesn't have to do with her being an influencer. Her parents are rich. The main aspect I think people are upset with is that this kind of wealth gets flaunted on social media, but before social media people still flaunted it in other ways. It's no different. Whether you choose to compare your own life to the life of someone born with a golden spoon in their mouth is up to you.

This is so depressing. What does she do all day?! I know she'll have every resource at her disposal after the baby but she's in for such a wake up call. I worry PND will hit her like a bus.

I've just watched her November books vid, and out of curiosity thought i'd check the prices of the jewellery she listed that she's wearing in the drop down description box. It seems to add up to some £10,000! IN JEWELLERY! Just ONE of her single Jaquie Aiche earrings cost over £1000, and one of the necklaces she's wearing is over £4,000. I knew she was rich but jesus christ! Where does she get the money from?! I know her mother and presumably her step father are very well off... but this strikes me as another level. For a 26 year old to be casually wearing over £10,000 in jewellery.. and mind you those were only the pieces that were linked to websites with pricing. There are many other bits she's got on which aren't available to view online..... is anyone else as shocked by this as me! lol
