I'm sure her family could have given her assets that ensure she's wealthy for the rest of her life, so she doesn't have to worry about income, but I feel bad for how directionless she seems. Maybe having the baby really will turn her life around and give her purpose, but I still worry that she'll end up feeling unfulfilled in a few years when her child is at school and continues to get more independent, and she still has no purpose outside of the roles she plays to her family. I know this is a totally different background to Jess's, but just as a comparison, as someone who was raised in a more "traditional" church, I know plenty of women (including my own mother) who were SAHMs at least for a while. Even the ones who never really had a typical career had SOMETHING else they were involved in, whether it was a youth program through the church, a ministry to go visit elderly church members who could no longer attend services weekly, etc. I don't think Jess has anything like that in her life beside YT, and it's clear she's not that passionate about her content creation anymore the way that she NEVER posts anything that isn't sponsored. If by some chance she IS still passionate about her fashion content, she's being held back by depression and/or anxiety that having a baby won't resolve, and she probably needs professional help to address.

I think it looks soulless lol
I think it's styled that way for the photoshoot to apeel to the architect's clients, so a larger number of people could imagine living in that surrounding. It's very light and spacious. And that peaceful garden in London is a real gem.

Normally I don't pay attention to booktuber's TBRs but for October I decided to read some books Jess was planning to read so I was extra looking forward to her October books video as every single book I've read this month was also read by Jess. Literally the first time I've decided to do it and I'm having to wait weeks for it.

She frustrates me so much. Everything going for her - educated, intelligent, attractive, slim, wealthy, likeable, etc. - and yet it feels like her life is turning out to be such a waste. I hope that's just the way it comes across online and she does actually find her life fulfilling in some way... don't see how, seems really depressing and boring from what we're shown. *sigh*

I think it's unfair to say Jess won't follow the rules when we have absolutely no reason to believe she wouldn't, and in fact have reason to believe she would due to how careful she's been. And her carefulness earlier in the year didn't seem performative at all so I really do believe her family are rule-followers.

Being rich is not synonymous with being selfish.

I think she's uncomfortable showing her privileges, but she used to film "what i got for Christmas" type videos so I'm pretty sure everyone following her knows that she is rich. Most people also really liked her showing her gifts, I know I did. Maybe her mum doesn't want her to film the house? She did film a bit more freely at her Dad's house a few months ago, she showed the kitchen and some rooms pretty clearly, even the garden if i remember correctly.

Either way, she has been looking a bit miserable for months now. I think it's sad that even reading can bore her now cause that's all she does. Maybe she'd like doing her Doctorate, but during her Masters she didn't seem much happier... Could it be that her relationship with Zak isn't fulfilling? Corona and her mum's diagnostic aside obviously, I really wonder what has been making her seem so depressed the past few years.
I think because she got so much backlash for her what I got for xmas videos she's now scared to show off her privilege. I think that's shitty because her rich girl lifestyle is the only reason I used to enjoy her videos.

I preferred her'what I got for...' videos. I liked that fact that there were lots of nice high end items but they were not overly 'DESIGNER', unlike the majority of the big UK youtubers. Her mum has really good taste. It's a shame she stopped doing them.
Same here... Unpopular opinion but I love seeing how the other half lives, and I liked Jess because she's not new money. Lots of Youtubers are loaded now and just buy tacky designer shit for the sake of it. Jess had a lot of really expensive stuff but they were more classic pieces and it's something that's just normal for her. I know posting on Youtube is "showing off" but when she shows her stuff it's not in the same bad taste as some tacky ass person like Jaclyn Hill showing how much money they've made with their trashy purchases... It's just more natural with Jess, sucks she got so much hate I loved those videos it was the reason I subbed.

^ In that case, it's even worse.

A lazy millionaire telling self-deprecating jokes about her sloth-like existence. Ha ha.

I'd actually wondered for a bit if during lockdown her mum had hired him to do some cooking around the house and stuff. He used to be a chef and they had a nanny who would cook for Indie, it doesn't seem like a stretch

It’s still so bizarre to me, but good for her if it’s what she wants. She’d rarely if ever talk about having kids as a high priority for her future and always seemed much more driven career-wise, but you guys are probably right in guessing her mother’s illness might have changed her views...

Could you explain your point to me please?
IMO you are choosing to miss the point as it has been explained, at length, by several users and I don’t think speaking down to anyone on here is going to lead to a positive or constructive conversation.

I’d rather get back to Jess, personally!

Everyone here might think 'wtf no one cares' but just in case someone does, the lilac Arket jumper Jess wears is back in stock. I've been waiting for ages for it to restock as I love it so much and I've just ordered one!

I wish I could stop working for months because I feel “uninspired”. I used to love Jess but she’s been acting like a spoilt lazy little girl for quite a while now. I watched her empty house tour yesterday and I’m extremely jealous that she was able to buy that place without ever having a proper job. Do you think she actually has any worries or stresses like most normal people? I highly doubt it, her biggest stress is what book to read next 😡

I'm sure they're taking precautions - probably ordering groceries delivered rather than going into stores themselves, etc. - but it's just frustrating to see so many people trying so hard to bend the rules. I don't think Jess's family is doing anything immensely risky, but the problem occurs when "what can I get away with?" is just the general mindset. Most of my friends here in California don't have a whole second property to go to, but many have been "safely" traveling all over the place ever since March, going on "camping trips" where they still go into other cities, flying to other states to visit family, etc. If people would just ALL STOP LEAVING THEIR HOMES for like...a month...this would be much easier to get under control. Part of the problem lies with the governments that are failing to really strictly limit things, but to some extent I don't think they reasonably can enforce strict enough regulations. At some point people need to have an attitude that shifts from "What's just barely justifiably still legal?" to "How can I help stop the spread and make sure I'm not doing something unnecessarily that has the potential to contribute to the problem?"
Exactly. I have less of a problem with Jess going to her family's farm than I do for people like Unjaded Jade who has gone to Berlin, Switzerland, and Seoul since September, although we can still agree that what Jess did isn't wrong. It also feels like an immense amount of privilege when some of us have been stuck in tiny flats all year and they're swapping their huge house for a farm in the countryside.

Also, I would like to add to the above post. I really dont think I would want to have Jess' life. She has no direction, no ambition and no dedication to anything it seems. Even reading and reviewing, things she loved to do, seem like a chore for her now. Or should I say requires too much "brain power" right now. She's gone to the point of no return, once you lose all meaning in life, its very hard to get back in to the swing of things. Most people have that push for money and surviving but all her basic needs are met and always will be. She has everything she wants so she has nothing to aspire too. Education was clearly her be all and end all. She doesn't have the motivation, drive or resilience to handle a PHD and I cant see her doing much else.

if I was a millionaire, I would still do my day job. I LOVE what I do. I love making a difference and shaping the next generation and fuck yeah, having that level of wealth would make my life easier but it wouldn't fulfil me. Jess seems to hop from one thing to another and still she's aimless. With her level of money, she could do SO much with her influencing career as she already has the capital behind her. I know she doesnt like to be referred to as an influencer but thats what she is. Her taste in books doesn't appeal to me greatly but her fashion sense does and even now, I feel like I watch it and I can afford to buy the same pieces she buys but I believe my money is better spent on other things so I lose interest. Thats my only gripe about Jess is that she has no drive or direction and doesnt seem to want find any either. Its the pure laziness for me. She could do SO much. She could open her own indie publishing house, she could be an editor, she can proof read books etc.

It’s sad, I thought she’d never be one of *those* rich kids that live off their parents. Even if she put more effort into her “influencing” (🤢) I could understand but she’s really just not doing anything.
She literally could have done anything, she has the money (her parents money) to be able to go out and create some amazing content, she could have gone to amazing places, she could have written a book, she could have set up a business, she literally has the opportunity to do anything she wants and she just sits there and does nothing?!? I'm no fan of Grace Beverly but they come from similar backgrounds, and at least Grace has actually done something with her life. With the amount of money Jess has its impossible for her to fail. Her laziness is just astounding.

I wouldn’t like to comment on her house...

the one her and (so she claims Zack) bought for what is speculated 1 million.

this is major house flipping is something that I have recently becoming aware of. This is a common actvity for the wealthy. I think it serves as a wealth transfer and income generator. I’ve noticed many celebrities doing this over the years, while not buying homes in the condition of Jess’ but - doing major MAJOR upgrades and selling the property (for a profit) or using it as a rental/air bnb etc while they move on to the next.

For example Hannah Bronfman and her husband totally re did their Manhattan apartment only to sell it as is completely furnished and purchase a different apt for 2.7 million which they are in the process of a total gut and rehab on. This is in addition to her home in Hampton’s which is also a renovation that she rents in the summer (pre covid) for like 70k or more. Yeah Hannah Bronfman is wealthy (her father own Segrams gin for something and is worth around 3billion) but I think this what Jess may be doing. Starting the high end buy and flip or buy and hold strategy.

anyway here are the vids of the apt they sold
