Jess liked Fleurdeforce’s apology post about her trip to Dubai! There’s no way of knowing if she liked before Fleur changed her caption to said apology but it’s made me think... do you think the reason behind Jessie’s non-posting has a thing to do with travelling? Obviously she’s known for staying offline for weeks but she’s also known for travelling at the beginning of a global pandemic so That would explain the posting of old pictures and the no new videos for the past month — she’ll probably wait for her tan to lighten a bit before filming!

i live in a whole different country but was at uni the same time and she literally inspired my whole life. i used to try so hard to dress like her and i even bought heaps of the pieces she wore (urban outfitters stuff, unif, dr martens etc) i even did the astrid and miyu midi rings and got similar piercings because i loved her look and life. she was the epitome of cool lol.

now she's just way out of my reach. i work full time really hard and she says she's busy whilst doing nothing all day but is buying thousands of pounds worth of stuff monthly. miles away from the uni girl i used to aspire to be (ofc now i also realise the amount of wealth and privilege behind that relatability).

also died at the unif jumper comment. i do remember someone (on GG? maybe?) who came in and said they knew her at uni and she apparently messed around in the library all day and it was mostly staged lol.

I mean your use of 'much money' is subjective. Her mum and step-dad are both partners at a magic circle law firm and I'd imagine make 7-figures each; not combined.

Do you mean on her dad's side? Because Jess has said before that her mum came from a somewhat normal family and worked hard to be in the financial position she's in now. Which would imply her mum doesn't come from old money.

Edit; actually I just looked into it, and the architect you're thinking of didn't have any children so possibly a great-great-uncle of some kind rather than great-grandfather.

7 figure salary is a lot so to be making that each is insane! Especially when you consider the average wage in the UK.
From my experience most lawyers and people in the legal profession come from some what of a middle class background so I assume her mum has come from a decent enough background, like you can always tell someone’s background based on the houses they grown up in. Jess and her mum live in centeralish London, in 3 story town house. They’re loaded in my opinion

It's in Shepherd's Bush, near the football ground - used to be a bit of a dive but seems to be gentrifying quite rapidly due to its proximity to more fashionable areas like Notting Hill. It was listed on Rightmove for around £1m, staggering when you consider that it's basically a wreck that needs gutting from top to bottom. Was surprised she didn't choose somewhere more trendy: Peckham, Hackney, Stoke Newington etc.

They've done that classic influencer move where they start to rip it out and THEN take lots of pics/vlog it. Just to make the transformation more dramatic. Cause when it was listed it didn't actually look that bad- dated yes, but not a total wreck. It needs work, but it wasn't uninhabitable. In fact there were people living in it when it was listed.

I know people's circumstances change, but it's pretty grim that they've bought a house that was being lived in, and have left it empty for 18 months in a city with a huge shortage of housing- at any price level. I feel differently when people buy houses that are a wreck, have been sat on the market for ages, are not mortgageable and are unattainable to most buyers because even if it takes a while to do it up and get it back on the market, it was empty anyway and so not exactly going to waste . But this was actually a liveable house and they've taken it off the market and left it empty when someone else could have been living in it. At £1million it's certainly not affordable, but there could easily be people sat nearer the bottom of the housing market with the money and waiting to move in to a property like this, but they can't because someone like Jess bought it to leave it empty!

Again, I know people's situations change and they probably wanted to move in sooner but it's a massive waste of a perfectly habitable five bedroom house!!!

Also I'm sure he's a nice guy otherwise her mum would never let him be in the house and fund them both, but yeah I'm curious about the dynamics too.

The privileged lifestyle doesn’t just come from her Mum and Dad. Her Step Dad (India’s dad) is a successful partner at the same law firm as her Mum. Being a partner at that place provides an annual income equivalent to winning the lottery. He’s super proud of her (especially when she graduated with her first, as any parent would be) and how she has created a role for herself that provides income, but I always get the impression that she rejects him a bit which is a bit sad. Or at least I don’t think I’ve ever heard her mention him being on the scene at all.

What makes you say her stepdad is proud, especially at making a role/income for herself, but she pushes him away? Just curious if she has said things that make you think that. I've heard her mention him a few times but nothing along those lines. From what she has said it seems their relationship is fine though. She doesn't talk about her mum a huge amount either (though more than she does her stepdad), and out of her family she only ever shows Indie as far as I have seen though could be wrong, so I got the impression they just don't want to be on camera/mentioned in detail.

Jess used to be one of my faves during her Edinburgh days and she was doing my dream degree, in a dream place etc. She’s well off and lives in London, yeah, but that doesn’t mean she couldn’t get a cool job at a publishing house or something. She’s simply not willing and rather stay home all day and read because she can. Beyond the ads she makes, it seems that she continues book videos only because she’s expected to do them and that’s pretty much the last “original” content she has.

Agreed. Back in her uni days everyone said she was so focused and a hard worker and it motivated them but I've never thought Jess was a hard worker, she's always been lazy it's just that she just actually had things to occupy her time back then. I never understood why everyone thought she worked so hard just because she vlogged herself studying at the library. Most uni students study and do their assignments they kind of need to in order to graduate, I didn't think Jess did anything out of the ordinary for a uni student.

you really seem to have a deep seeded almost jealous but not willing to admit it thing against Jess. Most of these comments are pretty just factual or questioning other random choices. Such as her not working. But a theoretical choice to have a c section and critising her because you don’t like her is fairly hilarious. I don’t know about the UK but here in Australia more money does not equal more choice for a c section or not, the only cost is a private hospital.

Critizise someone’s work ethic or lack there of. But criticising a women for making a choice on how she wants to give birth (and she hasn’t said anything to suggest one way or the other) is pretty low.

Urgh.

She lives of her parents money, got the best education money could buy, supported through uni, then a masters, was taken on amazing educatonial holidays and repays that investment by doing sweet fa all day - she is a lazy parasite leeching off others hard work.

She gives nothing back to society or to her viewers and will continue to be a leech as long as she can, she should be working as an able bodied adult, contributing to society in some way. A job that might not be for monetary gains but to help her community or to help the arts that she claims to love.

Disguised and disappointed - yes. This woman had a lot of potential and so many privileges and opportunities not available to the majority and chooses to rot away in a bathtub with a paperback.

Amelia liana also has filthy rich parents but churns out the cheesy cheery content on a fairly regular basis, even does the odd bit of charity work to give back. Jess could have done a podcast om books, apparently a passion of hers, but instead plops for half arsed book reviews heavily comprised of stealing other people's reviews off goodreads. Just like stealing a degree by paying others to write essays for you.
Do the work yourself.

I do know a little of AU healthcare, not as much as you will living there but it is veryyyyy different to UK healthcare, especially now. Individuals in the UK simply cannot choose any health treatment here, maybe in theory but the reality is different. Advantages of paying through the nose for a private birth is seeing the same consultant throughout and having them (hopefully) at the c section. They will helpfully guide you to a c section, it's more convenient for them as they won't be dragged back into hospital at 3am, and as a bonus they can charge more for it! I am angry at the huge gap betwen private and public healthcare yes. All of us in the UK should be horrified at the lack of investment in it, we will probably all use it at some point.

Lastly moving forward you might consider writing 'people' who give birth, to be properly inclusive.

Not surprised tbh, at uni, it was always the wealthy girls from the London area, who's families were minted that were the dirtiest. They'd have this fake edgy look about them, and would do so much ket at raves thinking they were so cool, but actually lived like complete pigs.

I got a blast from the past when I saw that Fashionfilth congratulated her. They used to hang out a little and they’re very similar in a lot of ways. Both from very rich families, both have a grungy style and now both are young mums too. Both seem to have a boyfriend who just rides along. Fashionfilth’s (Lexi’s) career has seriously stalled though. Believe they’re in Portugal now.

But yes, we would have definitely found out much later had it not been for that Goodreads book. And the pumpkin just confirmed it all for me. It was a matter of time until the announcement.

i was just watching her latest vlog and she mentioned she was pregnant again and wow guys like. we really did that. we really guessed that

Lol. Honestly though, would we have been able to guess without her major slip-up via Goodreads? Like, what were the other signs? She gained some weight and she mentioned feeling tired and sad. But like, I've gained weight and have been tired and sad lately too, cuz ya know 2020 . And I'm definitely not pregnant lol. The pumpkin was one of the biggest giveaways for me, but that was likely only because I was already suspecting it so I was looking for clues at that point. I'm not sure if I would have seen it coming without the book situation.
