From what I saw they were always on her "what i got for my bday/xmas" videos. People constantly telling her she's selfish, tone-deaf, reminding her that there's people out there that are less fortunate etc... I really hate that whole narrative, Jessie's parents buying her expensive presents isn't the reason poverty exists.I'm the same, that's the type of content that I signed up for. Was the backlash mainly on youtube? I really can't remember but just remember that she just stopped doing them![]()
If I did nothing with my days, didn't have a proper job, and didn't have a real reason to get up in the morning, I would be hella depressed too. It's pretty straightforward really, not some big mystery. I don't think it has anything to do with her relationship, and I also think she would be just as depressed even without covid or her mom's health situation (as you mentioned, she's been like this for years, it's not new!!). The girl has ZERO purpose in life. How could anyone possibly feel fulfilled in that situation? Honestly think her mom did her no favor by providing for her in the way that she has... She doesn't need to work (i.e. she doesn't need the money) and she's not passionate enough. Jess needs a kick in the butt and some motivation to actually WORK. A PhD wouldn't solve anything and she honestly isn't cut out for it... It's actually really lonely and you have to have a LOT of drive and self-motivation to get through it, because no one is going to give you deadlines or chase after you like they do in undergrad--you are on your own. She would just spend all day reading and taking notes as well (same as she does now), and wouldn't actually get anywhere.Either way, she has been looking a bit miserable for months now. I think it's sad that even reading can bore her now cause that's all she does. Maybe she'd like doing her Doctorate, but during her Masters she didn't seem much happier... Could it be that her relationship with Zak isn't fulfilling? Corona and her mum's diagnostic aside obviously, I really wonder what has been making her seem so depressed the past few years.
People can't choose to give birth however they feel most comfortable - only if you have money can you really choose.I don't think her having a c section booked (if she does) is a big deal or a reason to paint her negatively - I don't see it as an easy option and women should be able to choose to give birth however they feel comfortable. She probably will go private but not surprising I guess.
Totally agree about the giving back thing. If she is happy doing minimal work and can afford to then fair enough, but I'm surprised she hasn't done anything like supporting a charity or something, she could raise so much awareness with her following.
Amazing. So spot on![]()
You are missing the point. Of course it’s her right. It’s not projection at all. What I’m saying & I think others are saying is that she doesn’t seem happy. IMO post uni she seemed at a bit of a loss. I’ve no doubt YouTube is easy money but I’m not sure how much she enjoys it. She doesn’t reply to comments in general. Her videos are often late. She mainly films in two rooms. We are all kind of projecting what we would like to do in her place. But that doesn’t mean she wants to or cares to do those thingsWe are all free to decide how to spends our lives after all, and if she wants to be lazy and not do anything, it’s her right
don’t worry, you’ll get it by MarchNormally I don't pay attention to booktuber's TBRs but for October I decided to read some books Jess was planning to read so I was extra looking forward to her October books video as every single book I've read this month was also read by Jess. Literally the first time I've decided to do it and I'm having to wait weeks for it.
Thank you lol was just about to say the same!!! The girl doesn't reply to comments for like 10 years, then she replies to comments on one pic and people are already praising her? Come on now, be real. If it was anyone else y'all would not be having it. People just put Jess on the highest pedestal for some reason I've just never been able to comprehend. The bar is really low for Jess, isn't it? This is part of her "job" as a social media influencer, something she's ignored for years on end. I imagine her family praises her for doing such mundane things as well.
Yeah well said. Something that kind of grates on me is when youtubers say "I'm editing a video for you guys" - as if it is a selfless gift lolExactly. I find it a bit odd. A lot of the comments are asking questions and she definitely has time to answer. I just find it quite hollow when youtubers refer to their audiences as 'you guys' and 'you guys are so supportive' and 'you guys are the reason I get to live this life' but they don't even bother interacting with their audience any more than that. Just makes their gratefulness seem performative.
I mean your use of 'much money' is subjective. Her mum and step-dad are both partners at a magic circle law firm and I'd imagine make 7-figures each; not combined.I don't think her mom makes that much money either, she must make a decent amount of money yes, but Jess' family comes from old money. her great-grandad was a famous architect.
I just noticed that there is no ad in the title either, as per usual. Maybe I will report it.Report her if you think it’s unclear, the more people who report the more likely they’re gonna do something
It seems that at least in the past few months he's been involved with helping to take Indie and their mom to school and appointments, as well as cooking for the family, although that probably doesn't occupy *all* his time. I do think he's probably doing things and just doesn't want to be filmed, rather than him literally not doing anything. Remember, it was JESS who wanted him to quit his chef job and come be with her 24/7. He didn't beg her to be his sugar mama so he could be unemployed or anything.I just can’t get my head around what Zak must do all day
We all know Jess is lazy and counts reading a book as a productive day, but we’ve never seen any signs of Zak lying around reading too.
So spot on. A really tone deaf caption! Why is it always the privileged influencers that never worked a day in their life that post stuff like this? The holier than thou “Oh y’all hate Monday’s? Well I happen to like them”. Yeah, that’s cause you never not once had to start a 5 day work week on a Monday, doll. Your Monday consists of getting a manicure and reading for 10 hours.
