Like she can't arrange for Zak to post in her name, a person who is actually working for her full time :D
Personally I think maternity leave needs to be more normalized for content creator. Her and Zak are both learning how to be parents and soaking up the newborn phase.

They have the means to not be working so they might as well take it.

Maybe I'm just projecting, but watching her "productivity" vlog I almost wonder if she has ADHD or something? Despite adoring her bullet journals as she says, she seems to regularly mess up with things like showing up for meetings and appointments on the complete wrong day. I know it's also possible to just have poor time management without ADHD and I'd totally believe that she just never really learned to force herself to be productive when "working" full-time in social media, but it just seems so odd how bad she is at managing her productivity.

Oh no she’s not got any real issues, she’s just never had a proper job where she has had to turn up and be accountable, where as no she’s an influencer she can’t basically do what she wants and still get paid
Because at uni she was productive and did submit things on time.

I mean she may have ADHD, but it's not the sort of thing you can say just by looking at someone or even their behaviour patterns when it's self selected. I have ADHD and I'm high functioning, which means that from the outside people wouldn't necessarily think I have it because I'm good at hiding my restlessness and a huge chunk of ADHD is mental.

It does sound like she has a bit of executive disfunction , she says a lot of things I relate to as well as an ADHD person in terms of “not having enough brain power” etc and it also seems to really get her down so I don’t think it’s laziness
But also could just be the case she hasn’t been in an environment with enforced schedule for ages cos she hasn’t had a job , hard to be motivated when you don’t need to be lol

To me it seems like a fair amount of her executive dysfunction isn't totally in line with things she'd want to be lazy about. And who knows to what extent it actually affects her, since we only see snippets of her life. But showing up for a spa appointment on the wrong day isn't just "has never learned what a deadline is" imo. It's just hard to tell how much is her lack of ability to manage herself and how much is her being lazy and tending to put less pleasant tasks off for later. But then putting things off because they're daunting and you don't know where to begin can also be a symptom of ADHD.

I really don't get articles like that...There are forums for everything, people I know are on forums for knitting and caravanning etc, its human nature to want to discuss stuff. Tattle isn't out of the ordinary or some evil dark internet place.

Given the writer of that article is all about protecting influencers, I think it's weird that she's shared Jessie's surname. I know you can seek it out if you try but I always think Jess goes to quite some length to keep it private.

Yeah that seems weird..

I also find it strange that she chose to include Jess at all- her thread is filled with appreciation, with a few criticisms and frustrations. I suspect the journalist reached out to Jessie for a comment, as she did with the other influencers she included in the article, and evidently, Jess declined but was still included in the article.
I can only speak for what I’ve seen on TL and not the whole website, but doxxing and commentary on people’s weight and appearance is definitely condemned on here.
Although Jess certainly doesn’t fit into any of the following categories, some influencers set poor examples and when called out on it by their followers, they simply block any criticism that comes their way. This article just further validated some influencers and their poor attitudes 🙄

I’m not against these kinds of forums being scrutinized, (and I do think there is some bad behaviour), but it’s rarely ever done well and I think it’s irresponsible to pick and choose certain comments to create a narrative that was clearly already pre-decided. People had long discussions here about Jess being pregnant in the broader context of her ’image’, aka the intimate personality that she sells to all of us. We have, through HER choice, born witness to her life and education and career trajectory. Motherhood was another element of that. But the article makes it seem as though it’s just malevolent and disturbed that anyone would then start discussing her and motherhood. What, are we all supposed to weep and start knitting onesies? I also think the cancer treatments reference was out of line, I can’t remember anyone alluding to something of the sort— but maybe if you put in context that Jess is rich, grown, and still living with her mom so as not to pay rent, that might explain why others were referencing her mother. But literally the only comments I remember around that topic were ones justifying Jess’ pregnancy because her mom was sick.

Jess and others have actively and purposefully sold an image to her viewers and willingly publicized her private life... viewers therefore invest in this kind of brand and continually respond to it. Why would it only ever be positive responses? That makes no sense. If you literally film yourself in bed and running baths and walking around your mom’s house in PJs and you detail your life plans to your audience— then that boundary has already been blurred if not taken away. What’s more, you invite an audience to consume you as media... and audiences always have critical responses.

I read that article this morning and I'm really flummoxed about why she chose Jess' thread in the opening. There's some really nasty and toxic threads on this site but there needs to be some nuance with how journalists are covering them. What about the people who feel let down by how some influencers have behaved during the pandemic and need an outlet to vent their frustration? (Ahem, Fleur's trip to Dubai and subsequent coverup and deleting of comments). Not everyone is out for blood. We just want some accountability and honesty.

I agree the cancer comment is so out of line. Posters on here have actually seemed really sad for Jess and her family about her mum's illness and I haven't seen anything along the lines of Jess being selfish because her mum has cancer. What a lousy and lazy journalist.

When do we think she’s announcing her girls been born? I haven’t watched the whole video through so I don’t think she’s added an end slide with any details

I have literally never seen or heard Jess’ real last name until this article, so the author really dun goof’d exposing that

The only comments I remember that related to the timing of the baby and her mom's cancer were like "Maybe they decided to keep the baby because they weren't totally sure if her mom would live to meet a future baby," nothing calling her irresponsible for it, just wondering about the timing. Also agree that it's extremely odd she used Jess's last name when Jess doesn't seem to want it out there online.

Weird...is this the same author? If so, weird again that she's talking specifically about 'full name' Jess. Maybe they're friends or something?? I can't actually read this article without creating an account so don't know what it says!

Excerpt from the article here. How weird.

Either a friend or a super devoted fan or something?? Just like Jess's Tattle thread being far from the epitome of toxic hate-gossip, Jess's house renovation content was far from the pinnacle of "renovation porn" since she's made all of like 2 videos on it where they do extremely little. The fact that she always starts her lists mentioning Jess, then goes on to list more popular influencers makes it super weird.

Also just weird in general how that article tries to be some economics blog entry about the elite in the influencer circle somehow being a significant demographic of millennials lol.

Agree, she likely follows Jess and reads these forums on her spare time and being a writer she saw a potential article to be made from it. (Also perhaps she’s a Jess stan so the harsh comments got to her even more lol).

Nothing wrong with that, as most culture writers get ideas from the culture they consume, I just think the ‘there are forums where Influencers are BULLIED!’ takes are so bad and miss so much of the larger picture. Are there users here and elsewhere who take things too far and end up harassing Influencers on their social media? Yes, and it’s inexcusable. And there are threads, which I do not read, that are legit psycho. But I think that element is one part of a much larger story and to miss the broader cultural issues is to do a disservice to the story. And, as we’ve seen, the way Jess was discussed was mischaracterized simply for the benefit of her own thesis.
