To me seasonal would be anything up to around 30/40mph as that seems to be pretty frequent for where I live every year, anything up to 70mph would be a occasional small storm an anything above would be a storm since having that is every few weeks, I think if its going be over 40mph it should be worth mentioned on news just so people can prepare to tie things down or take precautions but anything under shouldn't, I know some channels like to go a bit over board when the winds only going be like 30mph but again I think it's because of what happened when that guy said there wasn't going be a storm an one did hit so I guess better safe than sorry
What I don't understand is the need to name them, until a few years ago they were just called storms or gusts, we definitely don't get anything like America so I see why they are named in America to keep records, yes we get some roofs down an trees an sadly some tragically die but having been in America in New Jersey when Sandy hit we are no where near that level of storm, that was like a bulldozer when it hit
