Nobody with a thousands pounds designer dog could ever claim to be a true socialist. Suspect she knows this, and that’s why she’s so snippy.

Sofie was really upset when Adele lost a lot of weight too. While I understand what some people were saying about feeling sad that they lost a plus size famous person they could identify with, Sofie acted like Adele lost weight as a personal attack on her.
And I really, REALLY get that. It can feel crap when a friend looses weight, kind of like I can find comfort in not being ‘the fat one’ or something, however isn’t that just internalised fat shaming? Since I found SH my weight has probably fluctuated from 11-18st, and I have always hated how she talks about people she decides are thin. It seems misogynistic to me. I have friends who have never been ‘fat’ so to speak, but does that mean fat shaming doesn’t impact them? No. Does it mean they aren’t allowed to feel fat or be inspired by body positivity. She also makes remarks about BP influencers being sexy, like that’s a bad thing. If you’re sexy you’re not fat, or something. She’s incredibly problematic, and I imagine tired from tying her brain in knots over how to be woke, and maintain her ‘otherness’. In reality she’s a privileged white person.

From working in retail I can honestly say I would have forgotten what had been said within about 5 minutes

I think a lot of her followers may like the ‘you aren’t defined by your body and you can be happy in your own skin’ type stuff she’s said but are probably turned off by the more extreme rhetoric such as exercise is pointless and a slippery slope to self hatred etc. I imagine there are plus size followers who might actually like exercise and don’t want to be shamed for that or told they’re ableist.

She also has a post where she outright says she doesn’t care about the environment and nature is boring (what?? Literally all nature??). I can see why a lot of people would be drifting from her.

Utterly obsessed with those scales.
Yes one set of scales isn’t going to bring the apocalypse but it’s still not great to toss shit into rivers?? She should’ve just said ‘yeah it was the producers idea but admittedly with hindsight it wasn’t a great move’ rather than doubling down obsessively.

It’s why the word queer has become meaningless. Remember when it used to be a powerful reclaiming of a word used as a slur now it’s just means anything and nothing . Also as a lesbian I find the whole woke idea that same sex attraction is a regressive thing now a bit terrifying.
I don't know if anyone here follows the gender discussions thread, but it is clear from some of the (fringe parts of) the trans community (I am not anti trans at all fyi) but language for some people seems to have lost all meaning. Being attracted to the same sex is what gay or lesbian means, how is that somehow regressive? and how is it any different from people in the far right claming that beign gay or lesbian doesn't exist?

I really do feel so sorry for poor Hank, why would you get a dog when you can barely leave the house, it’s just so selfish! A cat would have been more appropriate if it’s just for company

Totally agree but how do her fans not see through this? I expect if confronted she'd say she deserves nice things and can't plan ahead for vet bills because, you've got it, trauma
She’s exactly like Jack Monroe in this regard, both of them have collected a host of marginalised identities that they whip out at break neck speed the minute anyone holds them remotely accountable. It’s then like how dare you say this are you trans/les/poor/xeno/everything else phobic!! So no one calls them out, no one can converse about this on mainstream channels like Twitter else they’ll be dog piled, so the grift continues til we start documenting it on tattle!

To be fair to SH at least she admits to overspending and not giving a fuck about her fixed overheads, Jack claims to have found most of her shit including a £300 Burberry scarf (she has 3 😂) and various brand new items of Cotswold Co furniture. More fool anyone that finds these lazy bums, both of them have the luxury of a flexible schedule so could get a standard PAYE role to make up the shortfall between outgoings for their desired lifestyle versus what they’re capable of earning as freelancers?

I agree, I imagine a lot of the of plus size people in her demographic would actually exercise. Her constant negativtity is pretty draining tbh and not at all (imo) what the plus size movement seems to stand for

I earn a good salary and can't afford one bloody therapist anymore. They're all £60-80 a session these days. She's got some audacity when she was on the beg not long back.

Ffs, most theatres were built in the Victorian era, when people didn't have weight issues. Everyone knows the seats are tiny and don't accomodate Kardashian size arses. Is she wanting them all to put Scandiesque benches in the front row for her? Fuck off.

Sofie has 413 Patreon supporters; even if they're all at the lowest level, that is £1239 a month. Just from Patreon alone.

There is no reason they would need anyone to paypal them for anything.

She’s lost the plot hasn’t she? Genuinely gone a bit unhinged.
Sofie strikes me as someone who has probably always been this unkind but was able to keep it better hidden until last year.

I honestly have never understood her appeal. As we discussed, they are a poor representation of mental health and being plus sized because she’s so unkind but also embodies so many negative traits that are often held against people from these groups.

I have so many friends who like Sofie and I genuinely don’t understand it. I have a couple who have severe MH issues and look up to them and I feel like there must be so many vulnerable people who follow Sofie and see them as an example which is really sad and a bit concerning.

1. What's so amazing about these?
2. Nice tucked away affiliate declaration 🙄
This actually really surprises me from Sofie. I used to listen to the Guilty Feminist religiously in its early years (its a bit too preachy lately but I still dip in occasionally).

I liked how they challenged the perceptions of beauty and make up and I remember they did an episode very early on about sustainable and ethical clothing. It really made me think about the way I shop and choose clothes. Influencers throwing mass made tat at us and telling us what we need while they profit from it has never sat right with me and its partly why I refuse to ever buy from an affiliate link or a company that uses these influencers (and I also couldn't stomach an influencer making money from me!).

So to see Sofie pairing with a company like ASOS and encouraging the swipe up for people to buy clothing that they probably don't need just feels like she's been completely hypocritical and disingenuous about the whole thing. Yes they're plus sized dungarees but that's not the point, it feels like she's part of a system that she rallied against and encouraged us to rally against too. Really disappointing!

I think someone did make a comment a while back about there being a lot of single use plastic and she flipped saying that you’re privileged if your able to be environmentally conscious and that not everyone can be. While I understand to a point that many environmentally friendly solutions can be more costly surely we can all make a small difference
Totally agree.

I think my issue is that she is a self-proclaimed anti-capitalist, but completely ignores that poor people are disproportionately affected by climate change etc. She used to speak a lot about intersectional feminism, but doesn't seem to have grasped the intersectionality of socialism and environmentalism. She claims to be anti-capitalist, but is encouraging consumerism which doesn't sit well with her socialist stance (I think she has said she's a socialist communist in the past). 'Influencing' as a way for her to make money, and encouraging people to buy tat from Amazon is rather hypocritical imho.

I write all that as an admittedly really rubbish socialist myself ... but at least I'm honest about it and trying to be better.

I used to really like Sofie but fuck me, she's hard work, isn't she? I came for the comedy and got a psychotherapy session instead.

If there's one thing I hate, it's being pontificated at whilst the person is making a million excuses for themselves. She's telling you how bad you are while she tries desperately to get herself Canonised! And don't even get me fucking started on the non-binary shite.

Given that she’s unlikely got enough influenza clout to score freebies from Liberty, did she really spend £225 on an advent calendar

IMAGINE begging for money all year then flexing on the fanz with that!! Demented!
