Also why be so fucking hostile to someone who is just trying to help? Doctors are notoriously shit at diagnosing these health issues and someone saying 'buy the way, we share the same symptoms and I have X' is not trying to attack you.

But Sofie talks all the time about how insanely irregular her period is and never tries to get help for it, so her problem I guess.

Nail on head. It's so manipulative. There's nothing remotely abusive in what the person said, and yet it's been implied that their words are akin to being abusive because someone who abused Sofie has used similar phrases.

I am so sorry that Sofie has experienced abuse. I've also experienced abusive family members - I truly understand how an innocuous phrase can make you cold when said in a certain tone or with a certain look. But you can't lay that on people who have done you no harm, and it's not fair to read objectively harmless words in that way and share it with your followers like that.

I wonder if what really happened was that the message made Sofie feel guilty/ashamed and rather than owning it fully they wanted to justify their lack of public gratitude and take some of the sting out of it?

It's also a way to justify their really shitty behaviour of blocking this person. A person who donated money towards hank's op in good faith and was feeling a bit put out.

Something else that's rattling me a bit is that they've not been transparent AT ALL about how much money she recieved in donations and what's happening to any surplus....

she is very much like Jack Munroe, any (however slight) criticism is met with some kind of personal crisis that excuses everything and makes her fans feel bad. From comments on her posts I also imagine a lot of her fans are very vulnerable and probably not in the position to give away money lightly, it really is awful

I laughed out loud at the tiles, funniest thing on her IG for a while! Tbh I think she intends and hopes that DIY projects don't go perfectly. All of this is hammed up for content and given it's her job (to be funny and to be an ~influencer~) I think she probably chalks up any losses e.g. annoyed landlord as worth it. I actually find her stories more engaging than most influencers' stories (except where she's shouting at/telling off her fans!!!).

Sofie freely admits she doesn't care about the environment so she can't even see the problem with it. Pretty sure she also said she doesn't really care about fast fashion and dismantling capitalism because she 'deserves to buy cheap stuff to make herself feel better about being ~oppressed' or some shit. One thing she shouldn't be able to overlook is the exploitation of vulnerable ppl in garment factories - but I bet Sofie's got an excuse for that one too. It usually boils down to 'nothing is my fault, I'm just an innocent consumer, corporations are to blame and my life sucks, therefore I will stop caring about the impact of my consumerism on anyone else and do whatever is easiest for me'.

It's absolutely disgusting to be accepting money from people who probably don't have 15k in the bank! Why can't she just own her success instead of pretending to be poor? She's as bad as Jack Monroe. Maybe it’s partly a cultural thing - do you have more freedom with rental leases in Denmark? But really the questions she’s getting about decorating her rental in London aren’t outrageous - the fact is most landlords in London don’t let you do anything to your place, some even ban you putting pictures up! It’s properly shit when you pay so much rent but also the reality. I’m not allowed to paint my magnolia walls in my rented place.

but I suppose if you can afford to lose your deposit like she can then it’s no biggie. I’ve had tenancy agreements in the past where if you decorate then not only do you lose your deposit, you have to pay to have it painted back! Not saying that’s the case for her landlord but it’s not surprising people are shocked she’s re-decorating without even mentioning it to the landlord.

Agree with everything that's already been said. I think bullying in a FB group was why she suddenly left The Guilty Femenist too? I have had to stop listening to Bad People because some of the things she laughs at when discussing crime and things that happened to people turns my stomach.

I also don't know how or why she has 2 therapists. In a professional context I know that would generally not be encouraged and in a social context who can afford it?!

No way that is true IMO, a therapist would never advise you to have more than one as their approaches could end up being contradictory

Sofie is one of the most bitter people I have come across. Do they actually have any real friends? Like not comedian colleagues or online friends who fawn over them, but real friends?

This is so true. I was like this in my late teens/early twenties - eating and drinking absolute shit but thought because my BMI was 'normal' (whatever that means) that it wasn't an issue. I was depressed and completely lethargic.

It was only when I approached thirty and realised that I needed to start looking after myself that I started eating well and exercising (literally just started with walking more on my commute or at the weekend and now I love daily strength training, running, pilates, you name it).

I believe in health at every size, but a big part of that imho is movement and nutritious food.

ETA: I still experience depression and am on medication but overall it feels far more manageable than in my junk food, sleeping in until lunchtime days.
