Pretty sure they can pursue you for more if you’ve caused damage, I know someone who ran a property doooowwwnn to the point their £1.5k deposit didn’t cover all the damage they caused and their LL did.

I hate landlords but am aghast someone would assume painting tiles is okay, it’s not reversible like painting walls! It looks so cheap and tit, and doesn’t clean properly. To retile sill be a couple of grand
yeah also it’s quite a drastic difference? Like it’s one thing to give your walls a lick of paint if it’s only a few shades away from the original, but this is a DARK green in both her bathroom and bedroom. Completely changes the light, makes rooms like smaller in some cases etc. I can’t imagine many landlords would be happy with that.

I thought this! that bathroom is small, why would you want to make it even darker?!
I cannot get over the fact she can have someone over to do non essential work but cannot go out with her poor dog. ugh she is awful.
I had someone over to fix my back door lock which had broken, which considering I live on the ground floor was pretty essential, no way I would have someone over to do something as non essential as paint!
I bet when she eventually moves and her landlord (rightly) gets annoyed that she painted the tiles she will go on a rant as if the landlord is somehow being unreasonable

Yeah we’re struggling for similar reasons, we’ve been spent over a year doing the house up and normal stuff arises off of the back of it, but what constitutes urgent? I’m having someone in to finish our bathroom as they can be in one room with the window open & it’s that project done (it also cost a fortune). We need 2/3 days of a handyman doing bits around the house, but that’s been parked as it’s “decor” like her painting. The rules are so loose I don’t blame her for it but I do think it’s dumb af.

Tbh I think landlords are scum so I’m not too upset for them that they’ll have to repaint before doing viewings cos such is life when you’re ruining the housing market but honestly would count what she’s done to those tiles as vandalism 😂

The rules are so confusing now I agree, I have been following (intermittently) the COVID thread here and SO many people who weren't considered key workers before have now been told by bosses they are, the govt doesn;t seem to have given any real advice and IMO this is why cases are rising despite lockdown.
Yeah I don't really get the paint thing, if I was a landlord I'd rather have a tenant that looked after the flat enough to want to paint it, rather than breaking stuff etc. 100%agree about the tiles though ! Reading her post about it I wondered if her landlord ever follows her, I would be pretty annoyed

I don't give a flying duck how Sofie justified breaking lockdown rules to have her bathroom painted by a friend - bottom line is that she broke lockdown rules. She seems to have a superiority complex and think that her circumstances are somehow exceptional.

This is my thoughts as well. They argued it so well and it’s all so very logical, but the point remains that this is partly how we’re in this mess, with loads of people doing things like this thinking they’re the exception but it’s okay because they’ve been “100% safe”.
Like was it really so necessary it just couldn’t have waited until restrictions start to ease?
In fairness I think the bathroom does look really nice now and what she’s said of the landlord they probably wouldn’t be mad, but it still doesn’t change the fact it’s not allowed.

Was aware of her from TGF podcast and some radio 4 comedy show she did, thought she was mildly funny. Then saw her name pop up on here so just checked out her IG. Wow. Makes for uncomfortable viewing and almost feels wrong to be watching, clearly someone who is not well and where an online presence like this only serves to feed that. The lengths she goes to to argue, self-justify, make everything else someone else's problem. How did she get so many followers?
That poor dog.

yeah the same for me, I don't get how (when she says she has 2 therapists) neither of them seem to be giving her any good advice/help? She really needs to take a SM break I think

Problem is, if her attitude towards any questioning/support from her therapists is similar to the way she interacts with people on SM, then they've an almost impossible job. For therapy to work you do have to want to engage, reflect on your issues, listen and try to change. She just seems to want everyone else around her to change.
Also, two therapists sounds dodgy as hell - I don't think this is recommended practice, unless the therapists are coordinated and communicate with each other, this could lead to all sorts of problems, surely?

Hmm I don’t think it’s that dodgy, from what Sofie has discussed one of them is a specialist in something that the other isn’t, so the the one without the specialty is aware of the need for the other. She talks about it in her Therapy show which actually was one of the lockdown shows I really enjoyed.

Still can’t get over them telling people off for projecting then doing that exact thing themselves. A SM break would probably be a good idea right now.

She’s so unbelievably snarky with people! She was going on the other day about her student loan debts and in the next breath she basically says that she doesn’t care if she loses her deposit over painting. I for one won’t be doing anything to help line her pockets

Ah that's fair enough then. Thanks for letting me know.

I generally have very little sympathy for landlords personally as I pay extortionate rent and it pisses me off cos they’re making money off of me needing a roof over my head but LOL I hope she loses it. If I was a landlord I’d be fuuuuuming!

Oh god!! This is why it’s not a good idea to decorate yourself if you have no idea what you’re doing.
