Yeah. I lost one cat (the lovely Branston) who did a Captain Oates aged 19. I got the late beloved Beau (who died aged 18) a year later. Subsequently, I have acquired a cute little chap - slightly quicker than I anticipated, but our other cat was so lonely and missed having a pal. So we got two kittens a couple of months later, and all is well. You'll find the right cat at the right time.

Jimmy gave me a Christmas present a bit early.

A pile of his barely digested biscuits hoiked up on the floor.

Of course, in the spirit of the season, he made sure to carefully avoid the timber bit and get it on the trailing edge of the chair cover.

Fecker ran in from the kitchen to do it as well.

I may have shouted abuse at him so he is sulking in his cat bed.

I'll dose one of his toys with catnip spray later as that always wins him round.

... I've heard people say females aren't as affectionate but when I had my girls one was quite independent and sat beside, not on and the other was a pure sook...now I have my handsome boys, Jules is a bit more of a sweetie but Remy likes to curl up on me more lol...
... don't they find the weirdest spots/positions...

Jimmy had his annual check-up yesterday.

All good apart from a touch of gingivitis and I had to wait until the vet had finished cuddling him before I could take him home.

Had a grand peaceful day as Jimmy is always zonked after getting his shots.

Spot the first time cat owners...

P woke us up on Sunday by making a sound at the end of the bed that sounded like when someone has a panic or asthma attack. You know that 'heh, heh, heh' type wheeze? She had her mouth closed the whole time though which made us confused as surely if its her breathing she'd want her mouth open? We called the vets instantly and played them the recording of the sound she was making. Apparently, cats make a very similar sound when they're getting ready to clear their hairballs. Scared the life out of us but better safe than sorry!

We are contemplating a Christmas tree for the first time in a while (kitten related reasons). Ow they are big cats of two, we are going to risk it. This may be a bad idea.

I thought if we put the tree up without decorating for a couple of days, they may get used to it.

3 am and I was woken by heavy rain beating against the window.

I muttered something and turned over to go back to sleep.

Unfortunately, having been lurking and waiting for such an opportunity, what actually happened was that 6 kilos of Jimmy landed on me.

After being informed about the rain and what an outrage it was, I was then 'reminded' that his food bowl was empty and his litter tray full.

This morning cleo came in my bedroom and was doing little cries, enough to wake me up though. She had breakfast and then went straight back to sleep. I swear she wants me out the bed so she can have it to herself

One of my weirdos started drinking my coffee the other day normally neither of them want any human food although when this one was small he loved everything, especially potatoes and strawberries

blimey! Mine is interested in foamy milk on coffees but we’ve not made one of them in ages! This morning she tried to drink from a washing up bowl of water that had been used to give the carpet a scrub after she’d had a tiny mishap with something stuck to her when she came out of her litter tray. Delightful! (She has a fresh water bowl, we let her drink out of the tap when she asks for it, we once spent about £40 quid on a fancy water machine designed to look like the sink and a tap and she HATED it because of course she did )

Does anyone have any hacks for clipping down claws? Our girl's claws get so long and she gets stuck in fabric no matter how much she scratches on her many, many posts (and our carpets!). She lets us snip her dew claw with some ease but any of her claws you'd have to push on her pads for she hates. We've tried doing it how the vet does it by putting her on a towel and clipping but she just doesn't play ball, and I'd rather not take her to the vets to do it regularly as she gets so anxious.

I do it one by one when my cat is sleeping though my vets opinion is that it's not the best for cats as they can lose their trust with you if you sneak up on them like that. Mine is alright with it though and i juat do one or two or however many i can get till he gets too annoyed.

Now my other cat i dont even try as i would die. A vet and a nurse+muzzle+towel is not enough to do it so i don't even attempt it luckily his ones dont get too bad anymore

Sorry not exactly what you're looking for but when my cat had to eat special food, he really loved this one. Wasn't a fan of the other onw they have called digestive control or something, it had to be this one. Don't think you can buy a very small amount though, sometimes vets have individual sachets available

So stunning, I always wonder if cats understand death or if they just thjnk their friend has run away? They're so perceptive I think they must understand it

When my old cat died 10 years ago, I let my border collie Stan see & smell Jez before we buried him. Those two were inseparable & great friends. I really think that helped Stan grieve. Sorry to be morbid.

Haha that's so weird, i didn't even notice. Had a look at other shops and it's spelled fine in other photos

I've heard this too but I think it entirely depends on the cat. I had a female cat growing up, she was quite affectionate, she slept on my bed and I remember her sitting on my lap reading books with me but she never cuddled me. Louie was never affectionate with me until he got to about 6 and he would let me spoon him on the floor. Cleo is very affectionate, she kneads me and lies on my at any given opportunity, last night she slept right at my chest but she kept putting her paws in my face. I hope she never stops

Haha honestly she was asleep underneath the sofa and my bf squirted some and all I heard was her scratching to come out and her wee head appeared she also loves blueberry muffins!

Merry loves going to the vet purely so she can leap from her carrier onto the keyboard. Once she's inputted gobbledegook she then rambles around till she returns to the table for examination/treatment. Her brother Loki refuses to budge so we have to dismantle the carrier around him - talk about an immovable object

I'm so sorry to hear that. Felix looks like a lovely guy. I went through this a couple of years ago, and you did the right thing advocating for him, and being with him to the end. He died peacefully because he trusted you to do the right thing for him, to ease his pain and tiredness. Be nice to yourself.
