Related to nothing: I was not arsed in the slightest about Amy Winehouse’s death. It just seemed so inevitable that I was surprised anyone was shocked by it.
Shocked it had taken that long maybe, but not shocked it happened.

I came on to post that I had been listening to You Tube music on my mobile, when a song came on that I thought must be Steps, but turned out to be Alice DJ singing Better Off Alone 😄
She was even dancing like them, though, 🤷 when I was squinting down the room to see if it really was Steps 😁🙄
Anyway, I read S4buk's post and went off at a tangent to read an excerpt of the recommended Freak Like Me which I agree is really good, but I'm trying to be good with money so will probably never get to read the rest of it 😞, unless I can get my head around Google ebooks 😬🥴
Freak Like Me is a really good read

Couldn't agree more! If you're to forgive my film obsessed side geeking out for a moment, there were some scenes, only snippets, of Tár that *alone* overshadowed MY, and should earn Cate an award. Spectacular movie, and I agree with Scorsese when he said it basically demonstrated a revival of GOOD cinema. a move away from the tired shit we've gotten bored with in recent times. And Cate Blanchett is to thank for that.

I'd be lying if I said that I was a tiny bit disappointed to see one of the masterpieces of the past 10, maybe 20 years, not be recognised formally. But fuck it, it moved me, so I'm happy. It did what it was supposed to do for me.
My gf is a massive CB fan, but I can take her or leave her, and honestly a couple of her performances have left me a little cold in the past. But she’s truly sensational in Tár, so many scenes where she knocks it right out of the park, even just some of her body language and expressions are, I agree, so far ahead of anyone else, and the film really caught me off-guard. I’d heard it was good, but it really is a proper film that draws you right into its world. Cinema indeed!

Watching the channel 4 documentary on Paula Yates who I love - I remember hearing a story a few years back from someone reliable that Pete Burns was interviewed by the police as he was the last person who saw her alive as they lived close by… Pete was watching porn on the tv and started having a w**k in front of the copper. Really couldn’t tell you if it was true or not but I know first hand that Pete was quite messed up.
There’s a documentary about Paula Yates? Is it new? *runs to look*

I was 19 in 1994 and hated britpop. I saw Jeff Buckley that year and he was amazing but when I saw him a year later his voice was shot.

My favourite band was Pavement, Steve Malkmus did a duet with Justine from Elastica in 1997 for a film soundtrack and there were rumours that they had a fling. Saw Elastica supporting The Fall in 1999, they were OK.

I got hugely into Radiohead with OK Computer in spite of previously not rating them. Saw then 11 times and even went to an aftershow (as rock n roll as you'd expect for RH). Best live band I ever saw was Fugazi, I miss them.
I've read Tim and Jeff's biographies and they both sounded like pretty hard work personality wise. Definitely talented though.

I think a younger M could work, but it would have to be someone with more gravitas (and talent). Somebody like Matthew Goode or James D'Arcy, or Michelle Dockery or Rebecca Hall if they wanted a woman.

Gillian Anderson, Samuel West, Indira Varma, Lena Headey, Sophie Okonedo or Mark Gatiss (he played a similar sort of character in Sherlock) are all of a more realistic age and would be good choices imo. Perhaps even Idris Elba since he's a bit old for Bond now.
loved Michelle Dockery in The Gentlemen. She’d be ace

that film is just fab in general though with an awesome cast esp Hugh Grant.

The 90s also gave wave to the music from the Levis ads. The 80s ones revived 60s music, but 90s were a mixed bag of classics and new songs. This was by far my favourite (sorry Babylon Zoo fans).
My childhood teenage best friend was best mates with the drummer from Stiltskin; Ross MacFarlane. He was staying over at their house one time I was staying over and he used my friends toothbrush because he forgot his own. 🤢🥴
Anyway, 90s for me was totally my coming of age. I was fortunate enough to have parents who supported my love of music at a time when there was so many good bands around.
1994 - the first T in the Park at Strathclyde Park was amazing. Pulp, Blur, literally so many good bands.
By 96/97and the likes of Shed Se7en, Boo Radleys, Bluetones etc their music just didn’t reach me in the same way tbh. It still doesn’t.
Modern Life is Rubbish has stood the test of time as have the first two Suede albums. Pulp have never put a foot wrong; and in response to an earlier poster - I still follow Paul Weller and have everything he’s ever recorded. I think his music is excellent - I’m glad he doesn’t revisit Jam songs etc. he’s still being creative and his look is timeless.

It’s been discussed before, but there’s a brilliant book out there called ‘Freak Like Me’ which is basically a biog of a 90’s pop super fan - he literally met everyone - Britney, Spice Girls , B*Witched (as they were literally getting dropped by their label whilst at the airport).

he got quite friendly with Geri irrc, went to her house etc but then she just quickly dropped him. I can’t remember the story completely but I would absolutely recommend the book - it’s bloody fascinating

i absolutely love Rihanna’s music but there is something really off about her as a person. She just doesn’t seem like a very nice person so this wouldn’t surprise me

if she has, she’s done A LOT better than I thought she would. I honestly thought it would be a Martine McCutcheon situation.
Also articlecsaid not only Mother’s Day but Bears birthday.

A friend has said Ant has gone a bit manic since going sober and suspects the alcohol and pain killers were actually subduing an overarching mental health difficulty or neurodivergency and whatever we're seeing is the real him now, unmasked.

Dec is a sweetheart and i think he has real twin flame in ant. He loves him so much ( platonically!!)but I think he's definitely the one that keeps them on tv
Read somewhere that he has ADHD

How I see it is that Bond and M should contrast each other. So you can have a slightly silly Bond as long as M is dour and serious, or vice versa. But both doesn't work as well
I could more realisically see her being Q (is that the weapons person?). They are usually a more comical figure.

With Liam she was having an affair with a married man who was still living and in a relationship with his wife how can it have been a committed relationship? She’s trying to rewrite history 😂
Yep!! Or he was giving it the "I'm gonna leave her, you're the one" nonsense.
