Agree. 100%. My partner has started a new job, three days before lockdown in March 2020 and, therefore, wasn't entitled to furlough. He requested it via his previous employer (as the government recommended) and was refused. And that was that.
He's a head chef, that's all he's known and besides a Christmas temp warehouse job, he didn't find a full time job until February this year, but it's zero hours contract and hours fluctuate, and it's a commis chef level and barely over minimum wage.
Then you get rich twats using and abusing the system. Utter scum.

Yep, so many hardworking people fell through the cracks, offered no support and left to fend for themselves.
My friend lost his business last year, which he'd built up for years, thankfully now he's employed instead of self-employed and slowly getting back on his feet. But he recently confided to me that a year ago, he was planning his suicide. I'm obviously so glad he didn't. It was the thought of his children that stopped him.
