Jesus why? why does everyone always jump to the feeling of being offended before anything else? Whenever I have met someone that is bilingual I am nothing but in awe😍
I suppose it might be like if some man said to you 'I watched you park in that narrow space so smoothly - so I was shocked when I saw you were female.'

Davinia McCall's got into controversy over comments on this affair.

What a handmaiden.
Her second tweet in response to someone... I mean!? Here in the UK, it's dark by 3pm in the winter months, so by her logic, we can't be out alone past this time!?

Well good for her that she ‘would never’ walk home alone. Not everyone can afford a taxi or even a bus. And sexual assault/grape/murder happens on public transport and in taxi’s too. Sometimes, if the walk is only 5-10 minutes it’s not even worth getting public transport, and not many buses stop right outside your house so even that wouldn’t eliminate all the risk in an ideal world. A woman should be able to walk home at night for any length of time and be safe. She’s coming across as so privileged.

this account shows how quickly 'nice guys' turn when rejected online - imagine their actions if they were embarrassed in public?? it's so normalised for women to appease men's wants that we're seen as disrespectful for politely declining their advances, let alone standing up for ourselves normally!!

I was gonna say that as well - public transport is rife for this sort of thing. It's just exhausting trying to work through this minefield when literally all you want to do is get home.

I saw an exchange in a comments section of the local newspaper on facebook and it went along the lines of:

A= Are men not meant to be scared of being attacked?
B= Are men scared of being attacked by women? Does a women walking towards them in the street make them want to cross the road or put their keys between their fingers to defend themselves just in case?
A= No, but I imagine a lot of men are scared of being attacked by other men
B= I'm sorry but saying men are also afraid of being attacked by men just proves even more that something needs to change

Very interesting that while men are trying to push the 'not all men' rhetoric and how this is damaging to their mental health and the curfew idea is dumb, I've seen a lot of them say they also feel unsafe alone at night because of ...other men...

as well, men are usually scared to be mugged, whereas women know they're wanted for their body and not their belongings.

Regarding Davina, the man in this case is a literal Police officer someone in theroy you should'nt need to be wary of so, after this how are women not going to treat all as a potential danger even more than ever?

Yep absolutely! I am more in fear of being sexually assaulted when out alone more than I am of having my phone or bag stolen, whereas men don't generally have to worry about the former

Davina is stupid and privileged, don't even try to apply logic to her tweet!

I think there are more important issues to focus on than what Davina is posting.

This whole case is horrendous and an absolute mess for the police. Someone at the police has tried to cover up, it would seem.

And that’s the crux of it. Men are the problem. I’m sorry some might not like to read that but it’s men who need to change and call other men out on this. We really can’t do anymore than what we are already doing.

I am so tired of how whenever something awful happens to a woman, we are bombarded with “what about the menz” comments on social media. Literally the only time it ever happens is when a woman is grape or murdered. So sorry if I’m not totally full of sympathy for all these ‘not all men’ who come out of the woodwork when the victim is a woman who has died at the hands of a man, yet remain silent the other 99% of the time when it comes to men’s issues and safety. It’s not genuine concern for men’s safety, it’s whataboutery.

I’m not talking about her now. I’m talking about the process of him seeking a foreign spouse all that time ago. Whether that was significant.
I think people are forgetting that you can say that without saying that women from other countries are more likely to submissive or whatever (which is what some people, not you I don't think, have said)
Chances are he is controlling because that seems a normal thing in these situations, but to be generalising everyone who may online date or everyone who lives in countries that have poor women's rights is such a dangerous way to go.

Are you saying someone tried to cover up the indecent exposure or the SE case?

Im not sure I agree with them covering the indecent exposure up. Without knowing the exact circumstances of that crime, it’s possible that they hadn’t actually identified anyone for that until they cross referenced cctv as in if he was just some random guy in the street & exposed himself how would the complainants know he was an officer? Likewise, they wouldn’t know his name. They could give a description but how many man would fit that in London?
cctv footage isn’t always crystal clear this incident happened 3 days prior to Sarah going missing, it’s not long to have conducted an entire investigation to identify what could have possibly been an unknown suspect.
obviously if he was in uniform & shouted his name then that changes things. There is also usually a specific team within the police (not quite line of duty) that would investigate police officer offences so it’s possible it got passed there & they haven’t managed to get the ball rolling much before he got arrested for this.
Not saying a cover up isn’t possible but I like to think otherwise personally but that’s probably because I’m from a policing background

I live in Glasgow and we’re having a “virtual” reclaim these streets rally. Which is light at a candle at 6pm tomorrow. But it just feels completely inadequate. There’s got to be more that we can do.

It feels like a moment of cultural reckoning. I really hope it is.

I am so angry and so sad and so tired.

And all the #notallmen people can GTFO 😡

She has an excellent point, its ridiculous to label all men as dangerous but it is an all men responsibility to address this.
Absolutely. The majority of men are decent people and it is up to us to make sure women feel safer. If we are out somewhere and a woman looks like she's being bothered you need to be brave and step up for her as it's better you take a possible beating than her. How women are treated by a minority of men needs to change as well. The point I think Davina is getting (abused for judging by her trending on Twitter and some of the shocking tweets she's been sent) is you can't judge all men off the actions of this one evil b who's going to see out the rest of his days behind bars.

Are you saying someone tried to cover up the indecent exposure or the SE case?
Said it before but the Met is so large and resources are stretched that it's possible they hadn't got round to the allegation yet or hadn't recognised the dude as someone they could know because they didn't know him as he wasn't in their circles.
I do think we'd like to believe that someone is covering something up, because the idea that our police forces (including the Met) are so stretched that crimes like this may be missed is a bit of a sad one.
I was also of the opinion that it was a missed thing, but having read policing experience on Reddit and their thoughts it honestly seems like a normal thing, and of course it would be seeing as they're underfunded. I don't think the Met being the Met really matters here because certain areas of it would still be hit hard, I'd like to think that the gov/funding side of things doesn't want to underfund stuff such as MP protection or Royal protection but 'petty' crimes are sort of whatever.

Sexual harassment is an everyday occurrence, In my working life I've been sexually assaulted twice at work, I've been flashed at and wanked at numerous times and assaulted on the street when a man pretended to fall and grabbed my bust. I've also been groped on buses etc as has every woman I think.
Its not a minority of men, its the majority but its a continuum obviously. Not many go onto murder etc but most will talk about knobbing women, she wanted my rooster etc in front of women etc when they know its wrong.

Imagine the bar for men is so low that because you don’t grape/attack/murder women then you deserve praise.
