This wouldn’t have saved Sarah? He wasn’t pretending to be a Met officer he was a Met officer. If this is their solution then that’s a disgrace. They need to make big changes.

This isn’t good enough. As stated above the hiring, vetting & disciplinary procedures for police staff need change so that those who support or perpetrate violence towards women aren’t working within the police.

exactly, the only thing that would have saved sarah was his flashing/vile language etc been taken seriously and him having been sacked
The reality is, a huge proportion of us are now going to start running if challenged by lone, male police officers. They have duck all chance of changing that unless they offer us more than "we are the good guys we promise and if not, just flag a bus honey!"
Who is their PR Team? This is an AWFUL suggestion and just shows how blind they are to the reality of how scared this situation has made women, even those who previously had no issue with the police.
I'd be interested in people's thoughts around what they actually could do to improve things. Not defending them, but I don't think the police are going to be abolished and I've got no idea myself how they can get out of this mess.

I just feel worse and worse for Sarah's family/boyf/friends/colleagues etc. To know that this piece of tit could have been stopped and wasnt must be literally gut wrenching.
The b is seeking to appeal his sentence 
duck. I guess in legal terms there could be a legal, technical argument made.

If it did happen there's a good chance he'd complete his sentence then get sent straight to Broadmoor or somewhere like that. And once he's there they could keep him for however long they want. There's no way he'll ever be freed from some sort of custody.

Unfortunately this is the system, thankfully he hasn't a chance but still due process must occur. I think that wee evil balls that murdered the six year old girl in Scotland was able to go down this route. Horrible for families though.
He can go duck the right off with his attempt at an appeal 
This case goes so much beyond a murder and grape, his abuse of his police power makes it so much worse than just a "normal" case (no idea how to say that better)and for this reason I think he 100% deserves life. I ahve said this in another thread here, but if he gets a lowered sentence I will lose any remaining faith I have in the justice system here
I just don't get it, is he so clueless to think people have any ounce of sympathy for him? This has been one of the most high profile and shocking cases of recent times, or is it just bored and wants to waste money from the justice system?
The sickening thing is, all his lawyer has to prove is that there are some grounds where he doesnt meet the 'rules' for a whole of life sentence.
Im not a lawyer, so I dont know the ins and outs of the legal side of it but I imagine there has to be a chance for them to lodge it.

Sorry if this has been discussed before but as WC was clocked off his shift , how was he able to still have the police car ? Surely they hand the keys back to the person taking over shift ? Why didn’t the met realise there was a car missing ?

He used a hire car to abduct then transferred her to his own vehicle.
He’s wasn’t in a police issue squad car. He rented a vehicle for the sole purpose of the abduction, kidnap and murder.
This is what I mean, ther will be some mileage in debating whether it was right for the judge to give him the whole life tariff- he said it was equivalent to terrorism/ ideology because that’s one of the three reasons you can give a whole life tariff 8n law (I am using very layman’s terms to explain this) the appeal would be easy to “propose” that it isn’t equivalent to terrorism/ideology it was a different crime which should have life (the 20 years-parole type) whether that argument would WIN is a different thing.
On a human level it’s galling. He deliberately set out to take a life and subjected Sarah to what must have been a sickening ordeal the pisstaking b has no shame
