I know the point Reverend was trying to make but why are women only seen in terms of their relationship to other people? It’s just yet more ingrained sexism, a woman’s value as her own person isn’t enough, it always comes down to her usefulness to other people. 😔

It'll be difficult to get someone who is approved by both Priti Patel and Sadiq Khan. Although in practice PP has power of appointment, SK can essentially block it by refusing to work with the candidate.

Sadly Patel will go with a law and order no hoper. The other problem is that several of the better Chief Constables don't want to know, apparently last time 3 turned down the request to apply for the job.

House will go for it. That's been his intention all along. It was well known when he was CC of Strathclyde and then of Police Scotland (where his nickname was Wendy - he wasn't particularly admired by either force, being considered "too Met").

Police Scotland themselves now have committed themselves to rooting out sexism and misogyny after an employment tribunal found against them in regard to an armed response team. In other developments, following on from their new procedure for checking single officers, they have announced that they will be rolling out new forms of identification that are harder to forge; it wouldn't stop a rogue officer (though the new procedure is designed to identify whether they are on duty and why the stop has occurred) but it will hopefully help prevent a copycat forging identification.

It comes days after it was claimed former Met officer Couzens, 48, allegedly molested a drag artist while he was in costume at the New Inn pub in Deal, Kent, in 2018, before propositioning him to have sex.

Not even surprised. There'll be even more people speaking out soon. About time the met got stripped down for this, all of them. bleeping scumbags and I'll never think any different.

If it was him there’s a good possibility there are more victims given the length of time from the incident

Emma B actually has quite a similar look to Sarah. It wouldn't surprise me if he had a 'type', as a lot of these predatory men do.

His wife is not unlike Sarah either especially in the pic from a while back when she had blonde hair.

Re what happened to Emma B - Vanessa Feltz on BBC Radio London is going to be discussing this from 7 am today and wants anyone - man, woman or child - to ring in if it’s happened to you.

The entire programme was devoted to this subject. If you want to listen to it it’s available on the BBC Sounds App. Vanessa recounted her own experience which took place on the top floor of a bus when she was about 11 years old.

I like listening to Vanessa but never catch the radio anymore, it would be good if she had a podcast!

Just listen on the Sounds App when it’s convenient. You can download them too.

A proposal that wouldn’t have saved Sarah and that does sod all?
Exactly this, WC wouldn’t have proved he wasn’t a threat, because he was. This changes nothing, genuine officers will just prove that and the dodgy ones won’t. What they need is a reform of how staff are hired and constantly vetted throughout their careers. Also no lone male officers and certainly not plain clothed.
