I posted this in a different thread but I worked for a big coffee shop chain many moons ago... we had regular customers who you got friendly with as you'd see them daily. There was one chap I found odd. He was probably in his late 50s-60s. He tried to add me on Facebook (I assume he found me through my manager who had no boundaries and accepted everyone) and he left an inappropriate comment on my profile photo. I blocked him. Well, he wasn't happy about that and apparently went to customers saying how I had declined him and it was the "most offensive" thing someone had done to him. He also said he "knew" me from years ago and that I "made eyes" at him.... neither were true at all. He said he would get me fired from my job to customers. He also said his sister was "high up" in the police and he would have me dealt with. I spoke to management about it and that I felt unsafe with him around. They are able to ban customers but wouldn't ban him. I refused to serve him. I actually felt very scared as he lived in the same neighbourhood as me and walked the same route, I was worried about walking home after a shift and he would follow me or something. I spoke to a customer who was a lawyer and his wife a MH specialist... the wife thought he could be schizophrenic (off his meds) and the lawyer said I should file a police report should anything happen to me at least there would be a record, since the coffee shop wouldn't do a thing. I called the police and reported it but honestly was made to feel like an idiot. Well, it turns out the man WAS schizo and off his meds and a while later was banned from the shop for other behaviour.

Have a look for yourself - I think he tried to make a point that existing laws were sufficient and so they need to be used but he failed badly of course
I have worked out through stalking likes, followers etc that an anonymous Twitter account that tweets nasty, disablist abuse is a police officer. It’s followed by some quite big police accounts. I know there are some excellent officers but the Twitter presence of most of them really depresses me. That goes for the racist ex job accounts too that the media seem to love.

I couldn’t prove it beyond doubt as the account is anonymous but it obviously is a police officer when I looked at the followers, replies to tweets etc. I have zero faith in the police acting on it.
There are enough non anonymous police accounts that are openly victim blaming and racist that I don’t think anything would be done.
It’s all hashtag thin blue line nonsense. I guess they just end up getting so defensive that they don’t realise how they come across to the public.
Your following the wrong ones. The officers I follow are reassuringly great on social media. I know they had a crack down a few years back.
However, that particular specimen you talk of it seems an “interesting character”.
I don’t follow many apart from two who I like but because I click on the ex armed book writing racist, all his mates come up too and there are enough of them to show a real problem. Not all are ex. Some are serving.
A lot of whataboutery going on with Sarah Everard and trying to distract with Harold Shipman etc.
By the looks of it they are also prepared to commit the real crimes.

I would write to a journalist about it, I know most of them encourage tips about stories via their social media

There was a BTP special who was uncovered and he claimed that his account was hacked. I will try to find the tweets about it. And that’s what would happen here unless someone has very deep pockets and was prepared to get all the IT evidence.
