From the article: "Plus, there’s an underlying air of virtuosity lingering, especially around Tattle Life. Users appear to believe that they are nobly holding people who have large social followings to account in terms of advertising standards and the ‘honesty’ they practise as an influencer and it’s clear that, for some, this is true." - Should we write a manifesto for our noble cause?
And it immediately follows with this: "However the levels of hostility, nastiness and abuse are out of control. There is little self-reflection or acknowledgement, rather it all seems very defensive. The self-appointed regulators desperately need regulating." - Does she mean SH's, IK's et al. Twitter account? No word on that.

IK's sharing her expertise on mental health on Twitter again. Yes, it's about Trump but it still takes a particular arrogance

Absolutely 👏🏼
I didn’t see someone upset in that video. I saw someone seething with rage who was manipulating the situation to her advantage.
Narcissistic rage: a psychological construct that describes a reaction to narcissistic injury, which is conceptualized as a perceived threat to a narcissist's self-esteem or self-worth. Narcissistic injury occurs when a narcissist feels that their hidden, "true self" has been revealed. This may be the case when the narcissist experiences a "fall from grace", such as when their hidden behaviors or motivations are revealed, or when their importance is brought into question.

** Disclaimer: narcissism and Narcissistic Personality Disorder are not the same thing. NPD is quite debilitating to those who have it. Narcissists (not NPD), are just self-absorbed assholes. No professional diagnosis required.

Does narcissism run in families @PineappleQueen19?

Do you think Sali is just cursing that her own personal back catalogue of dodgy behaviour is being clocked by so many more people than before? That punch of karma has gotta smart.

Pffft. Why try to over analyse something so simple as this place? It is to hold up to account and lampoon the ridiculousness of the influencer, media and celebrity culture. And laugh at their daft behaviour. No one here I'm sure feels particularly virtuous. I'm just glad places like this exist otherwise where could people laugh like someone as bizarre as India Knight who has set herself up as a self appointed commentator and mouthpiece.
I increasing think what blue tickers, celebs whatever fear the most is ridicule. David Baddiel spat the dummy over a hilarious twitter site DHOTYA (Didn't happen of the year Awards) which highlights the more pompous shite they come out with. He threatened to write a 'piece' exposing how pathetic it all is.
SH went postal after we all had a good laugh over whether or not she was invited to VBs launch or not. They can dress it up how they like but they don't like that we laugh at them and their pomposity.
Listen to the great Adam Ant SH - 'Ridicule is nothing to be scared of'.

Thanks for interesting posts today. Too many brilliant points to re-flag up but on balance my thoughts over the day:

SH has made herself into a brand which profits from women (whether in cultural capital, money, dopamine hits, beauty products, experiences or all of the above) by being a journalist who’s specialism is to sell ways of acheiving one narrow idea of beauty.

It is implied that beauty is good. Just that assumption week after week is a problem. That’s without adding on that the solutions to the problem of creating a problem are usually to buy things or to spend time on ones appearance. Many women are time poor as they do the bulk of the domestic and emotional labour. Many women are financially relatively poor as they earn on average less.

So really the empowering thing would be if we all switched off Instagram and read a book 😂

I know I mentioned this on the Friday it all kicked off, but the sexism in women talking about women being problematic somehow but men talking about footballers / other such folk (I'm guessing almost exclusively male sports people) has never caused this kind of fury that I'm aware of. I'll pay attention to thinkpieces about this kind of space when it's not made out to be primarily a women v women issue.

For weak dilutes of skidders, tattlers are doing ok. I see more intelligence, wit and genuine empathy on here than IG or twatter for sure.

And why the hell should the mods here feel compelled to talk to a Grazia journo? Who the hell does she think she is? bleeping Woodward and Bernstein? And people here didn't want to talk to her? Good. Why should they. But there goes the spin at how slightly sinister it all is here. Not just that people here don't bow down in awe to, oooh, a journalist.

I never feel virtuous or any other bollocks these drippy articles try to suggest about us as Tattlers.

The way the Tweeters, Influencers and woke Journalists appear to think they’re above criticism is astounding. That we should be thankful for them bestowing their opinions upon us requires trash sites to knock them down and remind them they are not better than us and can’t control what we think.

Because when a man is talking tit about another man, that's just him giving an opinion, nobody interprets criticizing a hockey/football/what ever player as: You are jealous because his calves are magnificent and his rotation (?) is superb.

That Grazia article is awful! What on earth counts as content these days 😂.

Surprise surprise the girly press doesn’t like women to discuss influencer culture with a critical eye. Wowza. It would have been a far richer article if she’d said maybe influencers need to be more transparent or maybe celebs need to stop bullying on Twitter.

I am gobsmacked that publications worry that nobody wants to pay for content anymore but at the same time publish content which nobody would ever, ever pay to read.

And the way they justify it all the time which essentially boils down to “it’s my job.”

No it’s doesn’t have to be, you just like stuff, and having lots of it, and it being sent to you for free. It makes you feel important.
I remember watching that video, and thinking, at that point, she must really just view all those boxes as "stuff". "Stuff" that makes her feel she has a role, but at the end of the day, isn't actually purposeful to her skin/makeup regime despite all the fawning. As you say, she has one face, it would be impossible to properly test out, let alone use up a fraction of that hoard. Yet as viewers we are told to buy this bit of "stuff", it's a game changer, holy grail, whatever. I think Jefree Starr was a bit more honest in admitting that his own piles of "stuff" consisted of items forgotten about for years, unwanted stuff, things maybe plugged once, and a never ending flow of new "stuff". That's them, but for the average consumer, one tube or bottle in those boxes would be a considered, expensive purchase that would cause guilt, sadness etc if found out to be crap.. like a chanel nail varnish that chips, or an 80 quid serum that just has a nice bottle. To them, that amount is "stuff", it;s not considered, wanted or used, it's just affiliate link material... and ultimately destined when the hoard gets too much, for landfill, sticking around for years, out of sight, whilst the inflow of more stuff keeps coming and will end up there in that cycle.

You are so right. Why on earth is it somehow 'worse' that is it women being critical and 'mean' and having a laugh? Also SH primarily flogs sorry recommends stuff to women. It just isn't that difficult a concept is it therefore that women might be more pissed off? Are we all supposed to just read Grazia and want to buy the latest £300 shoe boot they are telling us we absolutely need?
SHs constant sad 'yes it's all women' in the wake of snivel fest was equally galling. Why is that bleeping relevant? And as said above by @Tesla's Ghost that it is down to jealousy is pathetic, offensive and sexist - India Knight I'm looking at you.

PS I don’t feel virtuous. I feel bleeping gobsmacked that the popular media aimed at women is so, so bad that a lowly gossip forum is the smart breath of fresh air I’ve been waiting for. Literally if a GCSE student wrote that piece I would’ve given them a C.
