So I was just looking at her critiques on the not so pretty episode about talc. She’s underplaying the danger of talc in beauty products (so a ‘pro-industry’ stance, especially in the context of the show) but doesn’t even bother exploring why use talc in these products at all? What’s the advantage? Even if there’s a small risk why take it if there’s easy replacements? What do you think the scientifically objective perspective would be?
I wish she had been my chemistry teacher in sixth form.
thought this was an interesting take on the issue
As for the quote up there, I wouldn’t disagree on the surface but I need concrete examples and in-depth explanations to know for sure.
Reading her blog as well, it comes from a very ‘people don’t understand SCIENCE’ angle, which I don’t appreciate at all. You don’t have to have the technical degree to be able to understand and critique overarching concepts. Her stuff is interesting but like most bloggers and IG personalities out there, even if they’re EXPERTS, it lacks a lot of rigour.
