Her sped-up reels of herself are becoming a thing, aren’t they? So ridiculous that the only way I can look at them now is while thinking of the infamous episode of Black Books when Manny becomes a model and visits famous places like Garfunkel’s.

SH receiving honorary degree- well, as someone who’s got a masters degree, she can try to convince herself all she wants, but it’s not the same as putting the hard graft in over a number of years and earning your degree the proper way. It’s laughable that her contributions to journalism were part of the reason she’s given it. Sounds like a publicity stunt by the university. Bet deep down she’d still have the same hang ups about her lack of formal higher education.

I makes me despair for the state of our society where pillocks like SH get recognitions left-right-and centre for questionable achievements while people like the ones work with, give everything out of themselves often for nothing, not even a thank you or a deserved pay rise, despite their years of education and selfless graft at work. Something really is truly wrong with how as society we value people.

Poor Lauren having to go all the way to dreary Cardiff to film Sali looking like an advisor to Henry VIII and Nookie Bear. She doesn't get paid enough for this, I guarantee it. She does get bonuses by way of rank Grenson shoes though so there is that.

I do. She hasn't yet contributed or innovated anything that would justify an honorary fellowship imo.

Cardiff Uni have seriously fucked up, presumably in an attempt to be inclusive (of influencers?).

What has really angered me is that she is put in the same list, sentence and selfie as Carole Cadwalladr. Laughable. I know no one with any sense is actually comparing Sali’s weekly word salad with Cadwalladr’s brave and vital investigative journalism, but still. FFS.
SH didn't wasn't included by Laura Trevelyan (who clearly is not @bbclaurak) if it's any comfort to you.

Never heard of this woman before so came here to see if there was anything on her after getting hold of a copy of her latest book. She completely baffles me. I cannot figure out who the target market would be. It's not a beauty book but a series of trite tips on how to pick the best Champagne and how to hire a cleaner..

I'm standing here with an onion and bated breath waiting for her book to be published.
I have a copy.. it's not worth waiting forlol

Ooh how did you get a copy of her book, is it an advance copy?
it went up on Netgalley yesterday. Never heard of her but it sounded interesting... til i read it. Kindle shows reading time at 8 hrs.. I estimate a 30 min skim tops

Oh, please post some choice photos of the pages!
I'd love to but I don't have a camera.. also it might jeopardise my position on getting advance copies in future sorry. Basically anyone could write it. it's about a millimetre in intellectual depth

Oh no, looks like someone's going to have to go through the list of everyone sent a review copy in between moderating SHB forum and the FB group. Wonder if they'll get an Eames bird for their trouble or just more #prsamples?

i don't quite understand this post.. but I would be open to bribes if thats what you meant

Oh fudge.. I just checked the Wiki.. so SHES the one who is always whinging about Tattle in the press... makes me feel totally comfortable leaving the one star review I am about to write

IK has got the face of someone who's truly nasty, hasn't she? She is the living embodiment of the Road Dahl "ugly thoughts showing on your face" passage.
she reminds me of a cross between Miriam Margolyes and Meera Syal's granny

She advertised it a while ago saying there would be a section on how to cook a potato. thrilling stuff  Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

Sali and/or a few of her acolytes have identified people here from clues in their posts. I thought you'd been sent a physical copy so it was a joke about them being busy trying to work out who you might be (and then blocking you any social media accounts you might have from Sali's). I hadn't read your comment about NetGalley when I posted. Am relieved on everyone's behalf that cross-referencing your tattle posts with the Everything Is Washable advance list won't be necesary, after all.

they'd have a job on.. I don't post anything identifiable and am not on social media using my real name anywhere lol As I said before... never heard of the woman til now

there is indeed lol. however the commonly known tip of adding a potato when you have used too much salt appears to have eluded her and she suggests adding water

I'm not surprised it's a quick read. Those kind of books are really no more than magazines that are beefed up with a hardback, big font and (presumably) photos

doubt there's many physical advance copies of her book going out, not exactly a widespread hyped release?

also who would review it? it won't be sent to book bloggers as they more often than not review fiction within their genre niche, ditto with the reviewers at big publications, even people who specialise in non-fiction won't be super interested in an odd mish mash of opinions/etiquette/basic advice? Especially when the general non-fiction trend now is for deep-dives on a narrow topic, dedicated personal histories/memoirs, or essay collections - of which this is not.

no clue who this book is aimed at aside from Sali Hughes fans and her gaggle of middle class female friends? (who will all know all this shite already as Sali only has about 10 anecdotes and pieces of advice she just repeats ad nauseum)

thats generous.. I'd say the actual useful content is probs a pamphlet worth. i don't have a physical copy so can't comment but it's giving coffee table or xmas gift book vibes.. you know the ones that get bought but never read

always bought for you by some family member who doesn't know you that well too, so just gets some generic 'women's book'

I’m Welsh, from the Valleys just like our plucky Sal. With an actual (not Welsh, so perhaps not as impressively patriotic as Sali’s) Doctorate that I put the years of hard graft in for.

Neither of the above reasons are why I think Sali is a complete nincompoop though. 😂 I’ll probably add the posing about the honorary fellowship to the list, but it will be a long, long way below the bewildering self-importance, tortured prose, endless daft mirror selfies and the speeded up reels. The pillock.
