She knows full well she’s still got an eating disorder, but she thinks she’s fooling everyone by showing what she eats and trying to make out that she’s naturally this tiny. She’s just replaced starvation with too few calories and too much exercise. She’s always going to block anyone calling her out because she doesn’t want to address it, but shame on all the people enabling her behaviour.

Agree with everything posted above about Sarah. She's in such deep denial that what she's doing is detrimental, and she's deeply selfish for not caring about the horrible effect she could have on others. That's what really upsets me. Most people I've met with restrictive EDs are unnecessarily self-critical and blame themselves for everything. She has such a horrible personality that she's the exact opposite, in the sense that she has this disgusting pride in what she does and that's just reinforced by her speed/progression at running.

The only way she'll ever change is if she finally gets what's coming to her in terms of injuries. Without a series of stress fractures, or even full fractures, she can continue to live a lie, suck up to her coaches so they stick their fingers in their ears and sing lalalala I can't hear you when people point out the fact they shouldn't be reinforcing her behaviours and enable her, and brag about how emaciated she is at every possible opportunity.

Sarah posts everything she eats and trains. It is obvious that she is in a significant calorie deficit Every Single Day. If she was not running/training her calories would still be too low for maintaining her weight I suspect. I suspect her family are extremely concerned.

If someone contacted me like you did, I would take it seriously, and even if I didn’t want to address my own issues and gain weight / start fuelling better, I would be concerned about the potential impact I was having on others by what I was posting. It’s not that she has to stop posting about her running but the constant ‘how small am I’ and tiny tiny portions of the SAME food kind of tit. And pretending to eat loads of cake when she clearly doesn’t. She’s small naturally yes but not that small, and the way she shows it off is not normal and the real problem here
that’s exactly my point - you can’t force anyone into recovery and that was not my intention - but you have to be mindful of what you post when you have such a large following. I hope she gets the help but her blocking me after such a compassionate and non-judgemental message speaks volumes :(

I have actually messaged Purdue performances about my concern, and someone is replying (also offered his number to WhatsApp) so I’ll let you know what their response is!

As people have stated I don’t think telling her concerns will spur anything to action, mentally she will see it as this is working and people are jealous. I don’t know a lot about ED but I do work in healthcare and have to treat people, I also try and research to make myself more knowledgable on the area. It’s not just bone injuries. Her electrolytes will be very messed up and she could have a cardiac arrest from this, especially if she suddenly started to binge eat, so she would need to be re fed on a specialised way to ensure this doesn’t happen with monitoring. I know injuries may help her, but actually if someone took her bloods and did an ECG they may scare her!

I hope they respond appropriately. I contacted them a long time ago and was told they’d “address it in a sensitive and timely way”. Would that be when she stops PBing? I outlined the medical risks (as a medic) alongside the MH aspects. I don’t believe any kind of results will scare her; I actually think she’d take pride in them as they’d confirm “how tiny she is” (as she likes to comment on repeatedly) and how superhuman she is when she can still perform as she does.

I’d be intrigued to see what the responce was. I was curious if the tiny PB when she was obviously expecting a big one might be the start of a few issues for her. For the sake of her health I hope so..

Hit the nail on the head. That's why I took it a bit further and said she'll only change if something severely impacts her running like a bad fracture.

I mean, if raging anaemia and osteoporosis isn't going to stop her, I don't think anything will in terms of scary medical results. And with the anaemia all she did was brag about how well she was running in spite of it. Like, not a bad PB for someone with and then she posted rock bottom iron levels.

I haven’t been on running Instagram in months because I can’t run atm - I can barely waddle my fat arse and bump around the supermarket. Popped back on for a few minutes and it’s all ladies who are tiny or more pregnant that me running miles and miles 😒

The response was literally a guy saying hi I’m adam from Purdue performance and then here is my number to WhatsApp and nothing else! I’ll see if they further respond tomorrow in more office hours! It’s borderline neglect that they are letting this continue to happen, it’s incredibly unsafe.

I agree - I have entered competitions and shared their posts before I knew of this issue and now it sickens me to think I’m indirectly enabling this sort of behaviour

That's Adam Clarke isn't it from Purdue Performance? Heard a lot of people say he over trains his runners and often some are injured. I'm waiting for that slow lilliesfitness to get injured due to the load she puts on herself and she's coached by them. Take nothing away from what she's achieved but you can't help but see she has injury written all over her soon

I think this is more or less how those IG coaches (and not IG work). They send you a plan suitable for Kipchoge, people improve in different levels depending on genetics, and then burnout/injury. There are some capable of resist for longer, those became IG stars

I was looking up some of the runners coached by "Kelly R coaching" (I always read it as R Kelly coaching, the name is so naff). One of them is injured already...

So he responded properly this morning

I cut the top line as it had my name in. It doesn’t sound like much really!

Maybe if I WhatsApp this Adam he’ll coach me for free 😂
That's probably a standard response they send out to everyone, you're not the first to message them about her and I'm sure you won't be the last. They also need to think about how it reflects on their business, and if she gets a bad injury and blames them it could have negative consequences for them.

In other news her bf ordered her a Nandos from France to make sure she is eating...

They see Sarah as £99 per month and easy marketable results, I doubt they care about her wellbeing or anything more

I dunno - I'm not defending them when they put her PBs on their insta or whatever, but I do think they are a little bit stuck. If they drop her as a client, that doesn't help her either - she'd just go elsewhere probably to someone (even more) unscrupulous. And they can hardly say anything publicly or to a stranger that is in any way revealing of personal info. I don't know what the best thing for them to do would actually be?
