For the last 2 days in her academic planner, Ruby had ‘call Blakeney’ (sorry, spelling!) so hopefully that means they’re still on good terms!

I feel like she just needs to make baby baby steps with doing "fear activities" as it were, eg I used to have a stunning combo of extremely lacking confidence and imposter syndrome which meant I never spoke in class, even during my fave classes, so one day I was like okay maybe if I put my hand up once or twice a week that's okay (which is tiny but more than nothing!) and then once I'd done it a few times I realised the world wouldn't come down around me and I could actually do it! The rest is history! You just have to take the scary/anxiety-inducing thing and do it just One Time to take the apprehension away and then its easier every time after that..I think Ruby's tendency to run for the hills at everything just makes the paranoia and the "what ifs" worse and worse unfortunately :(
Sorry if I’ve missed something but did Ruby say she’s lacking confidence in something? Obviously she’s v scared about covid. I know she’s part of clubs at uni and helps run the Harry Potter one IIRC, but is there something else?

Wow that’s weird I’ve never heard of 30 credit modules at any uni. But she does seem to be doing excessive work for each class - at most then she might have 2 lectures and 2 seminars a week, the amount of studying she does looks like it’s for a lot more
It seems a very odd way of doing it! I’ve never seen any others that did 30! What a load of pressure and narrow selection! Like you end up doing 4 in your second year? That’s quite sad tbh

The first few comments are saw underneath it were things along the lines of ‘I don’t because I’d be a victim of hate crime’ and ‘no, because of the lack of equality’. I think she’s appealing to a very white, middle class audience when she asks questions like that. I think she needs to consider that not every 19th Century person lived like a Brontë, Austin etc character.
Oh I didn't see any comments, she's clearly turned them off. You're right, so tone deaf.

Wait thats crazy?! I went to a private school but it was 1/3 of the price, I don't know the average price of private schools as I try my best not to associate with the awful time I had there but that seems hella expensive to send 2 children to.

My housemate at uni (who is still a close friend years later) went to a private boarding school....£12k per term 😬
It’s weird though because you’d never know she went to such an expensive private school because of how...normal she is???

I love the vibe of dark academia but Ruby takes it a bit far for me. There’s too many problems with it that aren’t talked about, especially by ruby when she is in a position to educate people about it

I’ve thought this before about Ruby and Jade. Always wondered if Ruby is struggling with her sexuality and that’s part of her clear regression.

(before anyone comes at me, I’m only suggesting this due to my own experiences at 18-21ish as I was coming to terms with my own sexuality)
Yes I've wondered this too. I appreciate people can be private, but she's never even mentioned thinking anyone is cute/attractive.

Again, maybe just cus I was a horny mess as a young adult, but I find the outward asexual vibe more than a little odd!

Like Eve Cornwell never mentioned her relationships, but we never thought she wasn't having them privately.

Considering how productive she's meant to be, I do find it super weird how long it takes for her to get videos out. Didn't she release something over the summer that had been filmed months prior whilst at uni??

Also, I really like that blouse she's showing off on Instagram, it's totally my style. I wish I had companies sending me things, lol
Agree! It looks really nice on her, really suited her

I don’t think it was terrible of her to go back home, but I do think the fact that she went to uni in the first place knowing that this pandemic was not going away, was certainly going to get worse, signed a lease on a flat and then left after one month really shows her privilege. Especially in a time where majority of people could not afford to be doing that, and considering all the job losses that have happened as well. So I can see why some people would look at it and not have too much sympathy for it, bc we’re all in this pandemic and sometimes you can’t help but compare experiences.
But at the end of the day situations change and if shes got mh then shes gotta do whats best for her.

Obviously I don’t know for sure what Ruby’s situation was, but when I was at uni we signed our contract for our second year house in February (and this was late!). If you waited any later, you’d get the bottom of the barrel houses. So it’s possible she signed before covid. Maybe the people on here at Exeter Uni will know better though.
Jesus christ, yeah that would make sense tbf

I couldn't even imagine my parents spending this much on my education
Wow, I literally had no idea private schools were that expensive jesus christ. It just seems insane to pay that much money to get something that you could literally have for free 🤣 do her parents pay her uni fees as well?

She literally didn't leave her house for the entirety of lockdown 1 and she (not diagnosing at all) can be very obsessive about things eg the sanitising of her backpack a few months ago and when she moved into her uni house this year, so those are things she needs to work on.
Arguably, she, and most people in the UK right now, don't have to "work on" getting over a need to sanitise or stay at home. Those are the things we SHOULD be doing.

So she's moved back home does this mean her friend is now having to pay for the house all on her own for the rest of the term
oh wow I wondered why she wasn’t posting videos. Not that surprising considering how worried she was, the constant disinfecting etc. And I guess only seminars are in person, and even then it might not be all of them.

Has she no longer got any in-person teaching this semester now? I know some unis have gone fully online but I didn't think Exeter was as bad as up north?
Some give you the option not to go to seminars face to face if you don’t want to/can’t

Does she still bring up Harry Potter in general or Hermione a lot? Maybe she wants to make it seem like she's moved on from it but hasn't. It would make sense in a way, if she really idolized the character so much. Was she actually a big HP fan or really just Hermione? She never seems to give herself time to really enjoy movies and series unless it's watching something with her mom.
Not an awful lot, but every now and then. I don't really feel like she's a massive Harry Potter fan. (I know she has a Ravenclaw scarf) but more Hermione.

I’m surprised as Marfa going home too. She seemed a bit more independent to me. But, each to their own, in these circumstances i can understand, but hope travel rules weren’t broken.
