Yes, this! I didn't run around the house screaming, but I think a lot of us even in the UK are just pleased that Trump has been taken down! We do have our "special relationship" with the US to think about too, and absolutely it gives us hope that if people can be inspired to vote for the first time like so many did in the US, we might manage to do the same. I do think Ruby likes to be seen as being "in the loop" with current affairs though - so that hours scrolling through news on the internet can be dressed up as "productive"...
Again, as I’ve previously said, I don’t think the special relationship or brexit was what Ruby was so excited about?
But agreed, she definitely posted it to seem as if she knows what shes on about when she clearly doesn’t because if she did know the slightest thing about US politics she wouldn’t be ecstatic upon hearing Biden had won. Which was what my original point was

I feel a bit sorry for her.
I felt that when she was away at university she seemed as if she was really 'finding herself'... The Hermione impressions used to make me cringe so it was like she was finally growing up. The family home gives me the creeps slightly. I think she’s a nice person but I don’t think she’s necessarily mentally very healthy.

I have some - ok a lot of- questions/thoughts regarding her morning routine
- Why does she wash her hands first thing in the morning? They haven‘t touched anything dirty?
- Why can‘t she just focus on brushing her teeth? Surely she can‘t do a good job if she‘s distracted.
- cold water in the morning is not good for you. Drink if it wakes you up but not ice cold water
- anyone ever tried power poses?
- the temperatur measuring every morning seems a bit excessive. I only know people who try to conceive / not conceive doing this?! And why is it in Fahrenheit? I thought Brits use Celsius?
- notice how she doesn‘t mention the Telegraph (even though she did a couple videos ago?)
- ner nails were disgusting! And they don’t fit at all with her perfect put together aesthetic? Just take a minute and remove the old nail vanish🤢
- Her random posing and smiling at the camera seems so fake
- and I‘m not even going to say anything about the fit of her mask ...

Sorry, I just had to rant 😂 Had a really bad day and ever since her NHS / Government ad I‘m just so annoyed with her

I think Ruby would have struggled massively at Oxford.

I do like her but she completely overworks herself and always seems to give herself extra work to do unnecessarily. She doesn't know when to stop sometimes and I think it's unhealthy studying for that long and so often.

There is nothing wrong with passion but she takes to the extreme.

They get a lot of work at Oxford but it is manageable (I know this because I have two family members who studied there) and I just don't think Ruby would handle it well.

Plus, I feel like she likes to be seen as super intelligent and I reckon it would have burst her ego that she is not as clever as some people or a similar level to herself.

Obviously I feel sad for her as it was dream, there is nothing stopping her for applying for her masters there.

However, if Ruby us quick to question her professor, I'd assume she's not one to listen to constructive criticism or advice. I don't think she'd be very favourable to professors at Oxford either if she was like that too.

They'd probably pick up on it as well.

I feel like she's kind of proud to still fit into clothes she wore at 11. I feel like that's worrying? There's no way I'd fit into clothes I wore at that age because I've grown and put weight on.
I don't think it's that worrying. Ruby's quite short (as seen in this pic lol) she looks like she's 5'2 at most. Most short girls can fit into kid clothes, in terms of sizing clothes that fit 11/12 years = size 6/8 (obvs if you're taller then you wouldn't be able to fit in kids clothes even if you were size 6/8) . I think it's more concerning that she still wants to wear clothes from when she was 11 years old lol. Her wearing kids clothes is much more to do with her peter pan syndrome than an ed.

So she's moved back home does this mean her friend is now having to pay for the house all on her own for the rest of the term
I'm really not surprised by this, tbh I'm surprised that she didn't move home sooner. As she signed a contract, she'd still be liable for rent unless she finds a replacement tenant herself, but it's not like she can't afford it.

I doubt she'll move back in January though, it's more like a permanent move I think.

As someone who is very sensitive to caffeine, watching Ruby drink all that tea is giving me a headache. Maybe she only goes for caffeine-free varieties? I know she's a small thing so it must affect her if she's caffeinated all day long. Certainly wouldn't help your nerves (with regards to the paranoia about intruders).
If I spent as much time studying as she did, I would need a hell of a lot of caffeine. Wouldn't surprise me if it's contributed to that.

Why did Ruby feel the need to set up alarms every few hours during the US election night? I found that a bit odd. I'd maybe expect that from my American friends whose basic rights would be endangered by a possible win by Trump. I know Ruby follows the news regularly but she would find out the result with the rest of the world anyway; she's neither a journalist who needs to be updated immediately nor a statesperson whose job depends on the outcome. I think she's stressing herself out for the sake of appearing interested and busy sometimes, with no tangible results.
I’m really interested in politics and even I didn’t stay up all night 🤣

Yeah I totally don’t see anything wrong with her going back home. Exeter might be ok just now but it could change and some students could be facing not seeing their family until Christmas or even after. If I was Ruby I would have done the same.

Me too! I found I actually made better notes based on the class discussion and people making points based on my ideas than if I'd made pages worth of notes myself beforehand. Seems like a waste of time to me. And when Ruby and her flatmate set aside time to discuss the text together before the seminar it seems like a way to fill up time but maybe that's just me as I don't like group study.
I started out my first year making the kind of notes ruby probably does and quickly realised it was useless unless I was given questions to consider

Just watched Marfas covid video...feel like I need a lie down

Cannot believe they're related! I actually thought Marfa was adopted for a while because she never called their mum, 'mum' but her name instead and they don't even look similar
Also, she's behind, and hasn't been going to seminars and she's not even 2 months into her course...hope her parent's didn't pay for uni out of their pockets 🤭

I found her being candid about her mental health a massive insight into a lot of her habits and personality traits. I just hope she continues to work through things because there’s still worrying elements which I don’t think Ruby has considered, like the whole ‘getting more into exercise’, which with her obsessive personality, could spiral. Just hope the best for all these studytubers tbh!

I’m definitely enjoying her videos more recently.

Further to what a previous poster said...If she’s writing a book I don’t think she’ll struggle to find a publisher. She’s got a sitting audience ready to lap it up and make some bigggg money for the publisher. I’m assuming her writing is good and of course if it’s not she might struggle but I bet the fact she has a fanbase, she’ll be fine. This sort of shit annoys me because it’s so hard to get your stuff published and who wants to sell their soul and put their life online (not bloody me).

Anyway hope she can continue to diversify her vids. Far prefer her to jade/eve/jack right now...

The ED discussion comes up a lot, and I wouldn't want to diagnose but I think with Ruby it's much more about eating perfectly and doing the right amount of exercise in an "obeying the rules" kind of way more than an obsession with how she looks? I don't know, but I think that if her eating is disordered it's more in line with orthorexia than anything else. That said, she was really into that book the Fasting Girls. Again, not for me or any viewer really to say outright what her behaviour around food aligns with but that's my take given the rest of her personality and habits.
I'm concerned. But she's a grown woman (in spite of what her channel might lead you to believe). Just hope she's alright to be honest.

0%! I go to uni with a lot of private school kids and the ones that are just regular people are fine. One of my flatmates went to a really good private school and the only issues I've ever had with him is that he occasionally doesn't get it when I talk about being working class. It's the ones that constantly talk about knowing all the other private school kids because they played lacrosse against each other or whose only conversation starter is asking where your favourite place to go skiing is that get on my tits.
Omg the skiing holidays. Every half-term. What is this about?? I've never been skiing in my life and everyone in my class seemed to have been born in the ✨mountains✨and their families would all go together.

Anyway I hope at some point she can enjoy the other parts of uni like slobbing around the house with friends avoiding your assignments. Then finishing it at 4am. Not that I ever did that of course.
I don’t think this will ever happen. Especially not since Blakeny (spelling?) seems to be quite similar.
One of the reasons why I would never live only with someone doing the same subject as me. It’s nice to be “forced” to talk about something other than my subject.
