I think some of you are reading into her too much. She's being a bit obsessive about exercising but she's obsessive about everything, that's just her personality tbh. I don't think she has an ED, she looks healthy to me. If she was overexercising and undereating so much she would have lost a significant amount of weight but she hasn't.
The fact that someone has to ‘look’ like they have an ED is such a toxic mindset and the reason lots of people let their EDs spiral before they seek help - because others have this view that you have to have lost significant amounts of weight and be underweight to have an issue.

Whether it’s linked to an ED or not, exercising the amount that Ruby is isn’t healthy or normal, and it shouldn’t be glamourised or even normalised by her or others.

As others have said, I’m pleased that she got good marks on her essays.

In the one about being productive and getting essay marks she literally went outside like 6 times during the day. I get we are in lockdown but she's been focussing a little too much on exercise
And changed outfits 4 times during that day!!!

There’s a large book tube community out there, it’s strange she doesn’t do a weekly reading vlog?

I like ruby, she does seem quite sweet natured.

However, I do think she definitely needs other hobbies though as you worry how she'll end up when she leaves university. What will she do when she goes into the world of work?

She definitely seems to have gotten better with socialising of from what I can tell since she's been at Exeter from what I can gather.

However, I really think, like a lot of these study tubers she would benefit from a part time job. Get some social skills and life skills. I don't understand how you could let your child study as long as she does, it seems a bit obsessive. I understand it's technically a job doing YouTube but even working in a café or something would do her some good.

Can't be mentally healthy being cooped in your room and getting glum about getting a "low" 1:1.

Apart from being rejected from oxford, I doubt she’s ever had to deal with failure, she will probably go on to do a PHD I think, she’s so glum with a low 1st because she has never experienced it before

Ruby is clearly struggling with her exercise routine - like her studying she takes it to extremes. In the same way studying for hours on end has impacts on mental health, over exercising is dangerous for physical health. I think she tries too hard to be perfect and wants the ideal productive life, but it’s simply not possible and most of the things she does are unproductive. When she injured her ankle it seemed like the end of the world for her that she couldn’t exercise. Then she said the physiotherapist said she should start cycling to heal. Now let me just say, I have a life long condition with my ankle and have seen many physiotherapists before and I’ve never been told that cycling helps relax the injury. I am convinced she made that up as an excuse to exercise - but it looks bad on the physio and for people like me. I could never cycle when I had bad ankle sprains/ flare ups. The way ruby wants to exercise so much that she would lie about something like that - she clearly has an issue with over exercising

Hope you’re ankle’s better now! x

I’ve used to have issues with my ankle and was told that once my injury has (almost fully) heal I should start cycling as it can actually help strengthen that area and therefore reduce the risk of another injury.
Ruby probably was told something similar and just thought that once the strong pain was gone she should cycle?

Thanks, it’s somewhat better now. Ruby may have been told something like that but I’ve never heard of cycling to heal an injury. But she definitely takes things too far - exercising for an hour a day is more than enough but she does it 3/4 times a day, someone needs to tell her to stop

If I remember correctly, her solo exercises take about 10-20 minutes tops - unless I misunderstood the video. I don't think it adds up to a dangerous amount of exercise, to me it seemed like she's dividing it up. I think the longest one is the family bike ride which doesn't seem very high impact to me. And she follows rules to a t, for better or worse so I don't know if she would do something that would risk her ankle further. I know I've been less careful with injury recoveries than she was, but hey. My take on it only.

I like Ruby.... I feel like I’m far too old now to be part of her target audience, being precisely twice her age, but her vlogs are restful. I think the Family house is shared with other people. It was no doubt something very large at one point, now split into smaller dwellings. That’s my take, anyway.

That said... She reminds me of what I could have been capable of at university, had I not had a social life and a liking for John Smiths (don’t worry, I drink proper beer now). Still, I think I prefer the way I did it...

Am I the only one surprised by how many productivity Apps is she subscribed to? She's spending hundreds of pounds per year just on making lists!

I never knew Ruby had a thread - but I am usually elsewhere. I have a real soft spot for her as I went to Exeter too and she just seems really sweet. I really like her, but like the rest of you I am worried she is getting obsessive about exercise and eating. I wonder if it's because she isn't at university in the same way due to lockdown (and probably won't be come September either), and she hasn't got anything to focus on obsessively like she usually would. I think something about being the level of productive we see in these studytubers probably does indicate that they all have fairly obsessive personalities, I'm just worried for her mental health, which I know she is open about but might not want to address food/eating issues in case of being triggering to anyone...

I've just found Ruby and loving her videos - I'm struggling with study motivation during lockdown and she's really helping. However, I can't help but think she's a bit OTT... she seems to study for soooo long! Does she ever just watch Netflix, play video games, take a day off?! I hope she's not too obsessed and can relax a bit.

I'd also love to know what her family does for a living because she seems crazy rich. Hasn't she bought her own house even though she's at uni (and I assume that she doesn't live in it)? I suppose with Youtube she can afford it. Also very jealous of her family home - from my limited viewing it looks like a really fancy Manor House or something!

I don’t think she ever takes a day off, she’s uploaded videos where she’s studying on Christmas Day !!

Yes... I think she will struggle in the real world, after university. I could see her working for a charity, or an eco / green organisation.
She will need to toughen up a bit, though, or she'll just get trampled on!
