We are speculating now, what she is doing after her Masters: And there is an opportunity that she can do both:
Studying/ staying in academia AND living in her childhood bedroom: 😜a course via distance learning ...

I'm always surprised in the choices Ruby has made with her social media content, or lack thereof. For someone who loves to study and read, so, so much, I find it strange that she never joined up with actual online group readathons and only did her own, reading mostly children's books; never got on the annotating bandwagon, which is so big among the cottagecore bookish community; in spite of having tons of money, never did much in the way of interesting book hauls; chose to create her own ugly planner, but never got into actual journaling and collecting of stickers, ephemera and proper scrapbooking. These are all popular themes on YouTube, TikTok and Insta, with large followings of mostly girls in their late teens and early 20's. I assume she has no artistic qualities for such hobbies, because now she is late to the game and seems to have no real interests of any kind. I always find snooping around her Pinterest to be very interesting. Right now she is posting more fashion, which she still hasn't grasped, and has created a new board called 'Beautiful Melancholy", which is basically a bunch of pictures of sulking teenagers. Really strange and depressing. Is this her new vibe? It certainly fits all her latest vlogs. I've also noticed her Pinterest boards and in her life, everyone is usually blonde, blue or hazel eyed, and fair complexion. Considering the variety of people in the world and of the students at Oxford, is she a racist? I have never seen her with any friends of colour or various ethnic backgrounds. She seems to only even attempt to friend people of a very western persuasion. I'm sure you get my meaning.
She did do that nature journal last year. Did she sell copies of that, or was it just her poetry? She also sold copies of her poetry, and her limited print run did sell out irrc.

She clearly has a few things she enjoys doing: nature rambles, writing poetry, I thought she might become a birdwatcher at one point, but the anorak aesthetic isnt quite what shes going for. She enjoyed making that nature journal. I imagine, if she gave it a go, she would enjoy flower pressing.

None of these, really, are career skills. Any poet/writer who does not have familial wealth to skate along on forever has a day job. I have met one real life, properly published poet in my time, and he works for the Telegraph as a literary journalist.

I've mentioned her here before, but the Lady in the Library is an excellent example of a youtuber in the literary academic space who is not shy about talking about failures. She's very refreshing compared to Ruby, without being overly... Dramatic like Unjaded Jade.

She also clearly has some historical interest. If she put a bit more effort in, she could create some interesting women's history pieces.

I do feel that Ruby is so secretive as she wants to be the first person to do a certain subject or come to a conclusion. She has to be the best or the only person to do that. She is very much the school girl covering her work with her arms to stop people glancing at her jotter.
It makes me think of the time when she seemed really put off in Exeter when someone either asked a question she wanted to ask or did a piece of work that she wanted to do for a class.

She would honestly do wonders for her audience if she spoke about her academic work and what she is researching even if it's even mentioning her dissertation. She has made her time in Oxford look like a set for her to film in. She is so secretive even for her undergraduate dissertation and we only know it's to do with Lewis Carroll's letters and nothing else.
It was the same with her refusing to speak about her love for Emily Dickinson when someone else asked her about it. I think ruby said something along the lines of wanting to keep those thoughts to herself as Emily Dickinson ment so much to her.
For someone who cobbles together and plagiarizes other scholars' ideas that sure is funny. Or maybe she thinks that's standard practice and needs to "protect" "her" ideas.

She has some very interesting fashion choices... this Shrek-swamp green dress is certainly not appropriate for an event where people are wearing dress shirts and suits, and the girls in front of her seem to be wearing floor-length gowns. Also her hair, couldn't she have at least styled it? 😅
but she’s the littlest genius child provide at the party!

That's pretty normal. For class trips in school we would share a hotel room with 2 queens and it was 2 people to a bed. We got to pick roommates, but they had to be of the same gender. If you didn't have enough friends going on the trip you ended up sharing a queen with a random person of the same gender, but it wasn't a big deal because it was high school, so usually you knew the person, just not very well.

Is it clear? Most friends of influencers don't allow themselves to be filmed or photographed and posted publicly if they don't want to be in the public eye. I feel like if Blakeney had a problem with people online knowing and talking about her we wouldn't know her name to begin with.
But if there were two beds in a room for two people like the previous commenter said, I would think it's weird to choose to share a bed for no reason and leave the other untouched, unless there was more going on. If there is only one bed available obviously it's a different situation.

The advertisement showing her listening to academic texts on double speed confirms to me that she probably does this with other books to bump up her reading! I understand doing 1.2x for a slower narrator style but 2x is unhinged.
Thread title suggestion: Ruby, unhinged

I loved going to coffee shops whenever I had to do monotonous or boring tasks. Things that needed to be done, but don't take to much brain power to complete, like writing study cards, cleaning up data or organising literature. Sometimes I also went there on days I felt particularly unmotivated and it was either go to a café and get some cake or rot in bed the whole day lol.
But for ruby I feel like it's mostly performative.
Also I used it to get some motivation. Like when I had a hard time to drag myself out of bed. It was an easier goal, and I had to get dressed, I’d go grab a coffee get some semi productive time in, but felt so much better and then moved to the library often for hours of productive work.

"RWOARY GILMWOAR becoss oiy really got intyo GILMWOAR GAHRLS this yahhhr."

She's been claiming she "rilly got intyoo Gilmwoarr Gaaaahrlllls this yeaaahhr" for 3 years running and yet still hasn't watched past the first episode.

"Moiy OIYPAD has NAVVER PLAYED OP ON MEEE."

That's such a weird thing to lie about oh my lord. That's like, compulsive liar type behaviour.

Would any really look down upon you if you said: yes, I reused some footage for this video. Yes, it was filmed across different days.

When people are this blatant about it, you have to wonder what they're getting away with under the radar.

Same here. I can get up, have a shower, get dressed and leave the house in 30 mins. I just have breakfast nd a cup of tea at work. I work for the uni I study at,so uni and work are the same place and I've become the student that's well known for taking a cup of tea to her lecture. I'd love to be the person who goes running and has a full breakfast before work, but that's just not me.🤷‍♀️
Same. I find if I leave too much time in my morning, I actually end up being late because I lose momentum wasting time.

An example of this was that she had this book and then decided to paint over the front cover because she didn't like it and this is how it ended up.

I was very curious what Rumbster had left for me, and there's just one video that is about as charming and nice as a dead worm. And I just watched that video of her unboxing that book, and am I hallucinating from my fever, or did she really say: "you know it's a nice book when it's packaged this well". Like, what the fuck does that mean?? and she says it so seriously too, nodding along solemnly 🤦‍♀️
Well then it's JANUINELY shite, HONNASTLY.

I'm bored and want an update. 🙏
Well, Trinity Term officially ended yesterday and she only uploaded 6 videos for the whole of the term despite saying that she was hoping to upload regularly during this term. Of the 6 videos that she did upload this term only 3 of them were to do with Trinity Term as 1 video was when she was back in Exeter with Blakeney which was before Trinity Term even started, 1 was a writing routine which had nothing to do with Trinity Term and the other video was the iPad which nobody asked for despite Ruby saying that she had received many requests to do this video plus like the Exeter video this was also recorded before Trinity Term even started. I have to admit I find it really strange as to why she hasn't upload anything in the last 2 weeks as she would have had time plenty of time to film a new video espeically when she only had her dissertation to do.

Apparently French carrots are not as flavourful... 🤔🤣 Riveting content, Ruby!

Also she's clearly putting on her posh professor voice again.

That racist chat is one of the dumbest things I've read here in a long time. 🤦‍♀️
I agree that it’s dumb! I do still think she’s likely autistic though. Obviously, it’s dumb to diagnose people online, but I am autistic, so I can’t help but recognise traits and behaviours of hers.

Ugh please post a video

To be honest, I know very few people who were happy to talk about their thesis while they were finishing it. We were happy with our topics and our work, but prepare to present any part of it whilst finishing so many bits and pieces… no way. And with a lot of her followers being quite young, I could see them not be the ideal audience for just that. In the past, soooo many comments complained about things like her using secondary literature rather than produce GCSE-style poetry analysis… that’s funny any other time, but not unusual to not want to deal with during this particular time.

This being said, I do hope she’ll talk about her degree more at a later time. Oxford partly lives off of the mystery and I think a lot of Oxford students are into it. But it could also make it seem more accessible to others, maybe make a little more transparent what a somewhat obscure-sounding degree actually looks like.

Genuine question why was she censoring part of the bird seed bag?😭
That's what I was wondering it was really odd especially when there was nothing on it to censor. I have to say though I found the whole video very weird as a number of things felt off.

I just don’t get why she can’t just try and enjoy Oxford, she wanted it for so long :( Surely it can’t be THAT much of a disappointment?
It's been her dream since she was TWALVE so she's definitely has some fantasies of "Ruby @ Oxford" of everyone being gobsmacked by her absolute intelligence. Clearly didn't happen.

It’s interesting because she said on her stories at the time that Ruby saved the day with the black dress however it’s not Ruby’s style (I don’t think she’d wear straps) and they are very different heights so I’m not sure what went on!
Yes, looking closer it's not the PR manager's dress. My theory is that either Jade always planned to change clothes for dinner (most likely) and the story is just made up for dramatic effect, or she bought a dress in Oxford.

Why is she wearing two cardigans 🤣🤣🤣🤣 she can’t possibly think this looks good. It’s so awful and frumpy. None of the colours are flattering for her skin tone either. And for the love of god this girl needs a haircut 😭😭 so sick of her low ponies, turd buns

Why is everything so crumpled? Including that sheet (rug?) in the background.
