Why do we have no idea what the topic of these essays is? For a studytuber as diligent as Roobs, wouldn't the first thing you would mention in a video about essays be the actual title/topic? Or did I fall asleep during that bit? All I heard was a lot of blah blah about deadlines, anxious, footnotes, boring, materiality - without actually any idea of what was under discussion?

She's probably the only person whose imposter syndrome is actually justified...does she even know what she's yapping about??

Ruby's reference to talking about the weather as an English cultural behaviour probably came from the book Watching the English by Kate Fox.

And here is the Isis Magazine article.

Behind every one of Ruby's thoughts is... someone else 😅

I honestly couldn't believe how many children's books were in that loft it was shocking to see as I was thinking why are earth have they kept so many that they are never going to read.
People like this think they are clever and better than others by having hundreds of books around the house, a tv in a cabinet that they hardly ever watch because they'd rather be reading and learning. Pisses me off. I think Ruby's family are a prime example of this.

I imagine (personal opinion!) she's just really overwhelmed right now by the demands of her Masters degree and that Yt content will start back up once the program is finished.

She's the only person a bit of imposter syndrome would actually be good for and she doesn't have an ounce of it lmao

what are your predictions she is gonna do in the future, after she graduates from Oxford?
I wish she was who she portrayed herself to be because it would be awesome to have a bookish youtuber become a librarian (an actual librarian not a Jack Edwards) and use some of their knowledge and influence to maybe save indie book stores and promote indie authorship. We need more youtubers like emmie (though I don't think emmie plans to be a librarian).

As for my realistic answer, I think she's going to try for another year or so to get published. The thing that frustrates me about her writing is that fanfiction does have a place in publishing as do retellings, but instead of just calling her projects a retelling or a fanfiction, she just rips off other novels and pretends like she came up with an original idea. No story is completely original, but from what she has shown, all of her writing projects have been extremely derivative of classic authors.

I'm grumpy today so it kind of pisses me off that she can just go to Paris and swan around the Louvre on a whim. And because she doesn't go anywhere alone she probably doesn't even have to deal with the stressful planning parts of it.

Her Paris vlog is up and just like her trips to Boston, Yorkshire and Scotland she has to include the word Bookish in the title. None of her other trips that she has been on previously have been sponsored but this one is by you guessed it NordVPN.

I so dislike places giving influencers who can well afford something the experience/meal/item for free!

If any Tattlers are between 16-25, the ROH has a decently priced programme as well as special young people performance nights https://www.roh.org.uk/ticket-deals/young-roh

That said, the other big Ballet companies in the UK are excellent too, and better priced! For example, the English National Ballet has tickets starting at 15 pounds for Giselle later this year: https://www.sadlerswells.com/whats-on/english-national-ballet-akram-khans-giselle/

New thread title suggestion: Ruby Granger #46 "An Oxford Elegy"

Excerpt from that work of the same title by Ralph Vaughan Williams:

Come, let me read the oft-read tale again:
The story of that Oxford scholar poor,
Who, one summer morn forsook his her friends,
And came, as most men deem’d, to little good,
But came to Oxford and his her friends no more.
Counter suggestion: Ruby Granger #46 "An Oxford Tragedy"

I also think the books she reads to make her feel well read don't actually add any value to her bank of knowledge. I can't think of anything worse than Sartre if I'm feeling low or any of the high-brow stuff she reads.
100% this.

I know Sartre fits with the French theme, but thinking about reading Nausea in a hotel room, alone, in the middle of an unfamiliar city makes me feel totally depressed. Everyone's different though. 😅

Yes. People who want to challenge our nature and really are happy as vegans are rare, most of them are unhappy and frustrated, and end taking their frustration on others. We should listen to our bodies more often. Especially when it's about cheese
I can't agree with this perspective. This doesn't apply to the vegans I've met!

I keep hearing the idea that if your body craves a food it means you need it, but that's not really true. Very often we crave the least healthy things - I get PMS cravings for McDonald's fries and they have no nutritional value! Addicts crave drugs even when they damage their health. Refined sugar is a common craving and it's completely useless for us.

That said, it is harder for vegans to meet all their nutritional needs, and in Ruby's case, I think she's just not getting enough calories with her vegan diet.

”Impressionism is my FYAYVOURITE kind of art, the Impressionists are the true experts at romanticising your life”

Complains about the fact that there were other tourists at the Louvre 🙄

It’s sad and comical at the same time how Roobee is incapable of summoning up a single interesting or original thought, it’s sheer inanity from beginning to end. Also I absolutely despised being shown a 0.2 second flash of a painting and then a closeup of Rootabaga’s face as she read aloud from the info card for half a minute.
It bothered me how she mispronounced Gare du Nord. Just needed to vent about that. 😅

Naturally, this will never get published, so I suppose we'll never find out if Erimentha snitches on any school bullies running any coffee-smuggling rings, if anyone solves the mystery of the school's B.O. problem or what her mother's "way" of squealing is.
Mystery solved: the coffee was almond latte so gender-swapped Martha couldn't drink it. The young ladies had to drink it instead. They drank so much that their pores stank of coffee.

Hey I'm not a writer, this is the best I've got. 🤷‍♀️
