Hello, l’ve just discovered your thread which I’ve read with interest. I’ve watched some of Ruby’s vlogs and don’t know what to make of her. I discovered her when she made a vlog on Venice. She seemed to be there alone. As an art historian with a specialist interest in 18-C Venice I dm’ed Ruby with information and photographs and she did not respond, not even a thank you. I’m not sure that she’s as sweet and charming as she makes out. She also appears to be a bit of a loner. Does she hang out with many friends in ‘the city of dreaming spires’?
Knowing Ruby she would steal all the info you gave her, block you and then use it in her content pretending she did research herself. That’s what actual Ruby is like.

Plagiarism … great! Good to know for the future. I was temporarily taken in by her air of childlike innocence. 🤣🤦‍♀️

I was watching a bit of her recent vlog, the one in which she ends up having afternoon tea at the Randolph. At the beginning, when she’s in the library, she talks at great speed. What’s that about? Moreover, she doesn’t convey much passion for her research. It sounded incredibly dull.

Re. plagiarism - in her undergrad, she took all the same modules as her housemate, they'd "divide up" the reading so she benefited from her housemate's notes, and they'd have lengthy discussions before each class, presumably so she could glean ideas off of her. She also printed (apparently only for herself though) a book of "literary recipes" and talked about how she "created it" while at the same time showing herself copy/pasting recipes and pictures off the internet. Anything that's out there for Ruby to take, she WILL take, and never credit. From what we've seen of her academic writing, she likes to string together quotes (and then moans about doing citations) and hope a meaning emerges.

And the fast talking is just her sneakily speeding up the voiceover, she's been called out on doing it several times and it's not quite as bad as it was at one point, she now thinks she's getting away with it but it's still obvious 😂

Whenever she talks about her research, she's just quoting random bits from some abstract she's skimmed through recently. I don't know how passionate she is about her studies, but she's also not very good at communication in general so maybe it just doesn't come across.

I once DM'd Ruby with a question. It was a brief, polite message but 1+ year on I still haven't got a response. I think it's so rude that she didn't reply after you went to all that trouble.

p.s. I'm studying art history!

WTF is sleaze academia? I'm definitely getting too old for all these different trends, I can't keep up! 🤣 I think I might just stick to my own "60s-70s-hippie-core" aesthetic. Which I just made up. That's the beauty of getting older: you tend to care much less about what other people think! 🤣
Well... Did you heard about dark academia? And white academia? I'm happy to announce that they created grey academia because some people were stressed by dark academia and the interpretation they had of it.

I DM'd her on Insta two times, one first to let her know she made a mistake about the pronunciation of a french name ( which she asked in her video, she wanted people to tell her) and explaning her how to actually pronunce it well: not a single reply. Way later, during her gap year, when she went on holidays while school was open, and as we couldn't comment on her insta posts, I DM'd her again for asking her about it and she replied, very nicely I'd say.
Pretty sure she only replies when you touch some subjects, other than that nothing.

She's mentioned submitting essays and pieces of writing a few times but been purposefully vague about what she's submitting, where and why. Most of it's amounted to her tossing her bad seagull poems in every direction and hoping someone will publish one or it'll win a competition (naturally, nobody touched any of her poems or fiction with a bargepole).

She bragged that she got an "ACADAMMICK ASSAYYY POBBLISHED" a while back, but luck and low standards seemed to have been her friends there, too:

https://english.umd.edu/research-in...ing-2022/heaven-what-i-cannot-reach-how-emily

Every piece of academic writing she shares is the same brand of godawful mess, with a few borrowed, disconnected ideas and a bunch of Googled quotes lazily stitched together in one babbling essay with no regard for coherence or a clear through line. I can't see whatever this conference paper is being any different.

Ruby being Ruby, this'll no doubt be a wildly embellished minor vanity event of some kind, like Oxford's 3rd worst hotel agreed to let her use their karaoke mic to read out her essay to whatever guests might be milling around the bar area between the hours of 11am and noon.
Uh... That's supposed to be an academic essay? Damn, my highschool teachers were expecting more than that back then.

I have, I just got confused by the gazillion new "academias" and "-cores" that seem to be popping up everywhere. Blame it on being old! 😂

But what’s sleaze academia? Dressing like a pervy professor who sleeps with his students??

Google suggests that sleaze academia ‘subverts academic uniforms. Think checkered mini skirts, bold ties, crisp shirts and awkward layering’. Ruby’s got a head start there then.

All I can think of when I hear “sleaze academia” is that St Trinians movie that came out in the 2000s.

(I would pay unreal money to see Ruby go there.)

She refused to talk about it and her posts about it used all the same "This is not an AD! But..." dishonest language and contradictions that her undeclared ads usually do.

All signs pointed to her contacting someone at the museum and offering to do some guest posts on their social media and advertising the museum on her channel in exchange for getting some free tours and gifted experiences.

Everything she did there were things that any guest could do if they paid a fee (a writing session in AMMILY'S BADRYOOM, guided tours of the rooms and grounds, etc.) but Ruby refused to tell people that while advertising the place because it would've made her seem less special and made it abundantly clear that she was gifted something with a cash value in exchange for advertising the place.

Instead, she did her usual transparent tactic of wildly embellishing the whole endeavour and claimed she was JANUINELY WAAHRKING at the museum as a volunteer and helping them with their social media. Usually volunteers at the museum have to do gardening or help set up for guests, but Ruby did none of that.

She did a couple of lazy posts on their Instagram (full of errors and typos) and a couple of TikTok videos amounting to a few minutes of content which focused more on herself getting attention with VARRY DRAMMATICKOL REEDINGS than talking about the museum. It was yet another shoddy, undeclared ad campaign that she begged her way into.
