Ruby Granger #4 Please sir, may I have some more (priviledge, playtime, and fake productivity)?

Yeah.... I mean.... You can do better, even if you were not a lit student.

Can somebody hold my cup? I need to hit my head against the wall
That's pretty reductive for a book about a totalitarian regime which brainwashes its citizens to the point that even history and the past can be completely rewritten without anybody noticing or caring.

Ruby often says that one of her favourite books is Cat’s Eye and now I’m trying to imagine her narrating her day in an Atwood style. Nope ... that just doesn’t work!

This thread omg. I feel like we were actually quite nice about her book after reading this

That’s it! After reading those screenshots I’m about to charge up my Kindle and finally buy it.

Wish me luck!

The comments Ruby is a ‘Victorian ghost’ and the book is ‘like the ramblings of an Alan Partridge/Jacob Rees-Mogg love child, but somehow worse?’

This is the most embarrassing thing I have ever read in my life. And I used to read and write fanfiction when I was in middle school.

I don't think Ruby is as intelligent as she claims (who remembers her claiming her IQ was 140 or something ridiculous?)

There is a HUGE difference between natural intelligence and being able to retain information.

Ruby is just able to retain information, it doesn't come to her naturally from what I can tell.

I too found the brine one in her Oxford interview weird. I reckon she was too embarrassed to admit she had no idea.

Oh guys I CAN'T but I also want to scream PLEASE DON'T STOP. Those screenshots are painful to read.
How can J.K. Rowling, Barack Obama and Queen Elizabeth I fit in the same sentence?

i feel this way about...all of studytube. their critical thinking and analysis faculties are just so lacking, but who am i to judge. they make hella bank on productivity porn.

I'd love something like The Wilds with a bunch of studytubers on a deserted island.

oh i wasnt saying i dont count them as it haha. its just i keep seeing arguments about it online. i dont do audiobooks, but not everyone can 'read'. i was mainly wondering if ruby listens to audio books and if she counts them as reading. i think i worded my question weirdly lol. my bad

She isn't a great wit. Doesn't seem to delve deeply into any subject. Not thought provoking or provocative. Not sure she wants to be any of this and she doesn't oversell herself as such but she does seem want to roleplay as an academic with all the planners, candles, productivity emphasis. She is just a pleasantly earnest and rich otherwise average-ish girl at the end of the day. She is miles ahead of some other booktubers...I made a mistake of watching a 10:00 plus min bridgerton review, where the whole review was the youtuber liking this and that and more of that and that's why she recommends that because she likes it?!

Not accusing you of thinking like this My argument was against the opinions I have seen online as well as, I've said in my reply already.
