Usually in the run up to getting some kind of grade we’ll start to see ‘grades aren’t everything’, ‘schools don’t teach you properly’ type videos as Ruby tries to cover her back just in case she doesn’t get the grades she wants, or that her followers are predicting. Then, once she’s got the grade she follows it up with yet more ‘grades aren’t everything’ videos in a rather patronising attempt at modesty, without once acknowledging that there are lots of factors that impact someone’s achievement and being able to sit at home and focus on academic work exclusively is definitely one of them. We might get the odd ‘Oiym syoooo, syoo lucky‘ but that’ll be it.
The only real difference here is that she’s started so early, so I’m guessing there’s a degree of anxiety (no pun intended …) about going to Oxford. Maybe we’ll get something slightly different this time and it’ll be ‘the Oxbridge system isn’t everything!’
