Here in the US, a lot of us can barely afford to buy eggs.
I agree about influencers being privileged but I also wanna say, dont worry because where I live we are jealous of all US. Almost everyone is paid below hunger/poorment limit. Eggs are the least of our problem. And most of the people in the world has lower living standards than an average US citizen. (Yes US have some systematic issues about healthcare and food ingridients but where i live, everything including these are already being corrupted)

The reaction of Ruby's fans to any criticism is hardly surprising (Jack Edwards' fans react the same braindead rabid-attack-mode way to critical comments), but man, what a bunch of gullible people.

"She's just showing her life! You don't have to imitate it!"

It's not her life, though.

It's completely fabricated with a very clear purpose: To show herself doing more in a day than is physically possible, to make herself seem more impressive and to make viewers feel like they'll never be as good as Ruby. Because they can't. It is literally impossible to do the amount of work Ruby pretends to do - it's 48+ hours presented as a 12 hour day via the magic of (sloppy) editing.

If you're paying attention, it's not hard to spot the seams - the continuity errors, the lies, the fake off-screen activities, all the undeclared ads for products she doesn't use, the 67 outfit changes a "day" - but if you're young and impressionable, you're more likely to buy into it and believe it's real. Her comments section is flooded with people too young or too gullible to know better, who point out how jealous they are that Ruby accomplishes so much and they feel unproductive by comparison.

That's why Ruby makes these videos. It's for that hollow, cruel little boost she gets from seeing people weigh themselves up to her and feel like they come up short. That makes Ruby feel better about her obvious inadequacies and it makes her feel more valuable as an influencer.

Because that's the ultimate goal: To leave students chasing an unattainable goal while Ruby acts like she's the person with the secret to doing in her sleep - someone to be emulated - while selling overpriced "academic essentials" and serving up undeclared-ad-filled "study tips" videos and sponsored (undeclared) products to help you on your way to being JOHST LOIKE HARR.

Ruby prides herself on that influencer position of power to the point where she uses it to sell herself and her brand. She brags about her follower numbers on LinkedIn and states that she uses her platforms to get students to "maximise their potential, both academically and outside of school/university". Ruby herself is out there saying that kids see her as a role model and imitate her, so this "she's not really an influencer!" tit doesn't hold water.

"She always puts disclaimers to show that toxic productivity is bad and she doesn't agree with it!"

She puts half-assed, lip-service disclaimers on videos in which she does and promotes the exact thing she claims to disagree with. A disclaimer would hold more weight if she ever accepted responsibility for her part in propagating those toxic habits for the entirety of her influencer career, or it clearly stated that her videos and their depicted timelines were staged.

But she'll never do that, and until she stops presenting an impossible goal as an attainable reality, she's going to get a lot of impressionable people following the blueprint she's set out: Drink water non-stop, never eat a nutritious meal, work yourself to death, always be productive, use BONKERBRADACTIVITY planners, all your downtime MOSST BEE PRODOCKTIVE, your boredom MOSST BEE PRODOCKTIVE.

It's dangerous and reprehensible, and she's been warned enough times to know better, but she simply doesn't care. She is not "sweet", she is not "lovely", she doe not "mean well". She knows exactly what she's doing and the damage she does and she'll never stop, because she cares more about that hollow ego boost and her flow of cash than she does about anything or anyone else.

"She doesn't make that kind of content any more though! Her content is super chill and cosy now!"

Her content is exactly the same, there's just less mention of school/uni (but still a baffling amount considering she's a grown woman who graduated a year ago). She's still presenting the same brand of toxic, unattainable productivity with her content in every single video.

"...and THAN OIY had a meeting, AND THAN OIY ran THARTEE MOYLES and THAN OIY wryote a bohk, and THAN OIY radd THARTEE BOHKS and than OIY cleaned moiy house, and than OIY RAN MOIY varry yown BUSINESS SINGLE-HAWNDEDLY and THAN OIYY STODDIED FOR THARTEE OWWERS, AND THAN OIY did some WAHHHRK."

That's every video. That's every Instagram post of a planner. A non-stop onslaught of "VARRY BUSY, VARRY PRODUCTIVE" activities all crammed into an impossible space of time. "Impossible" being the operative word.

Every reading vlog has to emphasise the wildly embellished number of books read or the pages read per hour first and foremost and yet nothing is said about the content of the book. It's all fake.

She's changed the nature of the things she does in her "day" in videos, but it's all the same fabricated, toxic, hustle culture bullshit she's always made.

"She clearly enjoys studying and being productive though!"

The utterly miserable mope on her face at all times and the strained, fake grimace that she can't hold for more than a few seconds suggests otherwise...

If she enjoyed studying, she'd be content just showing and talking about the actual study she does, what she learned, what she enjoys about it, rather than very clearly lie and fabricate events to boost her accomplishments.

But she doesn't. She lies. She makes tit up. She stages all her videos. She has nothing to say about the things she does, it's just a laundry list of fabricated activities and robotic, parroted quotes sandwiched between undeclared ads for crappy products.

This isn't enjoyment, it's a toxic productivity numbers game, where Ruby needs to put her thumb on the scale to come out on top and make herself seem more impressive, intelligent and efficient.

she is teaching (or whatever) parttime so depending on when her ... whatever she does starts, 10 o'clock isn't that odd, I guess.

btw I got a call earlier. I have a new job!! Starting in April, fulltime. It will be sooooo strange to work 40h a week after such a long time. And I have to leave the house. while my husband can stay home to work. will he miss me during the day?
Congrats! I remember you made a few posts about struggling to find a job so I'm happy for you!

"Ruby, can't help but notice you're several hours late for work, is everything okay?"
"Yahh, syo sowry, oiy...was wahhrking on planning a YEECHEEB vidyeeyow."
"A what-now?"
"A YEECHEEB vidyeeyow. Oiy've been potting it off fwore ages naow."
"Umm...what the heck is Yee-cheeb? Is that a medical thing?"
"Nyooo, Yeecheeb! Yoo knyow, it's an internat platfworm whaahr yeeu cheese videeyows to watch and than yeeu watch tham."
"And this...Yeecheeb was important enough to skip the first three hours of your shift for?"
"Oh yas, Yeecheeb is moiy wahhrk, and this is moiy traditional job, syo Yeecheeb always takes prassedant, syo oiyy johst did that and thannn had a quick cwoffee and thann oiyy lafft.."
"...It's becoming very clear, very quickly that many mistakes were made in hiring you to work in the English department."

She "works" a 3 hour day. This is not a job, this is the school doing community outreach to give a local hermit a reason to leave their dusty home for a few hours.
Am I the only one who reads 18:15 on the post-it note?
Mind you I was fully ready to accept that Ruby's "traditional job" was a 9 hours a week endeavor but looking at the post-it note that looks like 18:15 to me? Do I need to get my eyes checked?

Yeah now you said it, it can be. In this case its also weird if she just does the things listed there for 8 hours. If she had lectures I believe it would be included in the list. She is a person (like me) who adds meals in to do lists. I would definitely add my lectures to that list if I had any.

Nothing irritated me more than her constant holier than thou attitude she would always make statements about how she doesn't eat fast food, her exercising for hours on end so she's more productive and so much more are all pushing the idea that she is the most productive because she doesn't do what other people do and everything she does is for her productivity. Anyone who says otherwise clearly isn't watching her content lmao she lives and breathes to be the most productive human being on earth.

Just wanted to thank you for pointing out this tiktok. It was an excellent takedown indeed. 🤣 I did see her comments about Miss Patina being unethical etc, with no response as yet from The Roobinator
Looks like the MISSPAAH TEENAH question comment has been deleted now.

Were there comments calling out the length of the workday? I missed it 😭
The comments I saw were mostly from her adoring fans, I imagine she’s been on it nonstop to delete any and all even vaguely negative comments. It gained traction for some reason so there must have been all kinds of comments.

It seems a bit odd it’s been deleted then, she still has OOTD TikTok’s with hundreds of negative comments, and one of her doing yoga by a service station which also had a pretty negative reception. Maybe it was found by her students (but that would be true of all her content if so)?

Yeah, that was the only noteworthy thing I saw on there.

The comment from the student vanished not long after and the rest of it stayed for a while, but there was still lots of conversation about what qualifications Ruby needs or doesn't need as a teaching assistant.

She's been purposefully weird and vague about saying what she does, so I'm guessing Ruby doesn't like it being confirmed that she's not actually a teacher and probably deleted it all in hopes her fans would forget and continue to speculate.

damn it, I missed it all! This is what I get for having an actual job 🙄 (I mean unlike Ruby, this is not meant as a slight to anyone in this thread, employed or otherwise! ❤)

Definitely no slight taken. The vast difference between Ruby and those on the thread is we don't brand ourselves as productive yet spend practically a year doing little more than wondering aimlessly about our gardens or sitting down at a desk writing lists of mundane tasks. Not saying there's anything wrong with planning out your time but (a) that supposes you need to manage your time because you are actually busy and (b) your not writing lists because you think writing a list is in and of itself productive. On another note the comment from her student was hilarious. It just confirms what many of us believed. Nothing wrong with being a teaching assistant I worked with many who held invaluable roles in a school. I can't believe for one minute she holds an invaluable role. I have this image of her becoming super excited because she could enter the hallowed environs of the staff room and having her own mug and specialist tea there.

I know it's been mentioned before, because it's extremely annoying and distracting. But can someone explain to me why she does the claw thing and talks with her hands so much? I'm autistic and honestly don't understand a lot of social things, it just seems so unnecessary.
(Please be kind! This is a genuine question lol. Also, sorry for my English!)

As a french, I often speak with my hands, just like lot of people from my place ( south west of France), for me it's normal. But it feels strange to see that on an english girl tbh, Idk why.

Not related but for the ones who know Kylegordonisgreat, his "The kid that's no fun" is a male Ruby but funnier.

I understand this, but I my parents and I arrived in this country undocumented so my parent's wages have always been lower, they don't receive health care and are going through health issues that makes working harder , and we've always lived below the poverty line. I haven't been able to find a job and because I will be my parents' retirement plan, I feel a lot of pressure. Although I can now work legally, I can't even leave the country because there is no path to citizenship yet and I am always at risk of being deported to a country I don't even know and losing everything I worked for. Your problems are valid, but mine are also.

I think that Ruby's gestures are kind of artificial? Idk I'm Italian so moving your hands as you speak is normal for me (I do it even when I'm talking on the phone or talking to myself lol) but you can tell when someone does it all the time vs when someone is doing it to put on a performance. You see it with actors and other Youtubers as well.
