Lol, she's such an idiot. If you have a skin condition like acne or even less serious conditions like dry skin or blackheads it's incredibly easy to see which products are working and which aren't. If it was the placebo effect everything would seem to work as soon as you apply it.

Clearly she thinks so because her skin is just fine and doesn't really "need" anything, so to her it seems that the products she uses aren't really effective. If she had acne and noticed it clear up or get worse she'd be able to tell what the products she uses are doing but as it is she's kinda just maintaining the status quo so it's harder to tell.

I might be wrong, but I think that originally Erimentha was not on a scholarship and then Ruby re-edited the book and added that in, presumably to make Erimentha more relatable (or to emphasise the ‘child genius’ aspect, I was never sure which).

This is true - she edited the book to make Erimentha seem less disgustingly wealthy (didn't work) and less obnoxious (same). I think in the original, Erimentha was more vocal about her sneering rather than just thinking it.

I get what you're saying — that she may be co-opting those struggles she didn't go through for content — but I don't fully agree. A lot of people relate to characters with mental illnesses, for example, who are played by actors who aren't mentally ill. I'm not saying Ruby is the same as a Hollywood actor lol but I don't think this is super egregious.

As a french, I often speak with my hands, just like lot of people from my place ( south west of France), for me it's normal. But it feels strange to see that on an english girl tbh, Idk why.

I think that Ruby's gestures are kind of artificial? Idk I'm Italian so moving your hands as you speak is normal for me (I do it even when I'm talking on the phone or talking to myself lol) but you can tell when someone does it all the time vs when someone is doing it to put on a performance. You see it with actors and other Youtubers as well.

It says a lot that for all her years of proclaiming herself to be an "anti-bullying advocate", she never once sat down to speak with another person who had actually been bullied to provide a platform for talking about their experiences. She has never cared about other people. It all had to be all about Ruby and her tone-deaf advice based on her completely fabricated experiences with bullying, and if there's not an actual reason for her to hog the spotlight, she'll make one up.

Her whole "I was bullied and that is my identity" persona was entirely fake and she only ever wanted praise, sympathy and money for her pretend adversity (and publicity for Erimentha Parker, which she billed as autobiographical despite being entirely ripped off from other middle-grade books she read and full of wildly unbelievable wish-fulfilment nonsense). It was also a handy annual excuse for her to be the recipient of money intended for bullying charities that never made it any further than Ruby's bank account.

That fictional bullying history is still paying dividends for her; in that TikTok the other day from the person calling her out for promoting toxic productivity, there was comments saying "Leave her alone, she was bullied at school so studying was her only comfort!" Nahh, she wasn't bullied, she's just a compulsive liar who has never gotten remotely good at it. Not having many friends at school because she's an insufferable little asshole isn't being bullied, no matter how much Mummy Bones told her so.
