Not only embracing boredom, but 'prioritising' boredom! This makes it sound as though boredom is a scheduled activity that she ticks off in her planner. Next thing we know it'll be part of her morning routine.

P.s. Oops sorry I got the wrong title in the last thread. I love 'Pumpkin Bread Activity'. 😂
lol I saw your comment this morning and felt I should make the thread right away because I knew what the most popular title was - I literally posted the thread while brushing my teeth, I really prioritise Tattle in my everyday life

Can someone fill me in? I fear I've missed a chapter in the rubee-verse
Ruby's mum claims she's a volunteer radio show host. Much like Ruby and her wildly embellised roles and accomplishments, she's just a call-in guest for her friend's morning arts and entertainment show on community radio station Marlow FM.

For some reason I thought it was fortnightly, but on second glance it's on the second Friday of every month from 10am-12pm, so once a month for two hours. Tireless work indeed!

The station archives their shows on their website, so you can search and find some if you're tremendously bored. I tried listening to one once out of curiosity and it was an excruciating experience - Mummy Bones mentioned her wonderful daughter almost immediately, namedropped Waterstones because of course, and then yammered the same hollow, suspiciously vague tripe about books she'd "read" as Ruby does.

he had better grades
I remember he got the 3 A* for A level, easily beating Ruby despite doing far less work, but I didn't know he also got a better first at uni. That's a bit embarrassing in light of how Ruby did little other than study. I do wish she'd acknowledge the problems in her methods rather than keep brainwashing her followers about 11 hour study days...

Honestly her getting into Oxford will give her a big dose of reality, I’ve said it before but they’ll be a lot of students in her class much older than her with more experience and talent. She’s going to crumble being such a small fish in a huge pond.

Honestly if she forgot about the planners and made merch with gold like this printed on, I would be placing orders. I'd love a HOW. DARE. YOU. tee shirt.
I'm holding out hope for her next book, 'Persephone Porter and Some Most Horrible Things'.

Is she serious with this

This has to be the saddest most disgusting bread and jam I've ever seen. It looks like it's been spread on and then scraped back off. Also soggy like it's been sat there awhile. Ruby, please fuck off with your Oliver Twist breakfast.

If you have to explain it, it's bad writing. But also if she'd stylised it 'magenta-green' then the reader gets the idea that it's a hybrid of the two rather than magenta being a direct descriptor for green.

Also if you have this image and idea of opposite colours blending etc, why not explore that and find a way to convey the image to the reader in your words, since she LOVS WROITING so much? Spoiler: because she doesn't love writing, she wants to churn out a mangled ten to twelve words, call it poetry and act like she's better than everyone else

Not even that. Someone said an outfit she was wearing looked very Wes Anderson, then she went "OOH, OOH, OOH! SOMETHING ALSE OIY CAN APPRYOPRIATE AND ADD TYOO MOIY FAKE OIDANTITY!"

She's never watched anything by Wes Anderson, she just searched Wes Anderson on TikTok and ripped off the content she found.
anxiously awaiting gossip_guy’s next movie poster for wes anderson’s the rooby tenenbaums

I don’t think the 25 mile rule will bother her. She’s clearly willing to give up anything (mainly her dignity, i.e., the embarrassing how I dealt with Oxford rejection videos) to go to Oxford even if that means leaving the comfort of her filthy den.

I’m interested to see how quick she changes her stance on grades not being important any longer (conveniently made after she attained a first class degree at a RG uni🙄). If she gets any grades less than a first - which is the only acceptable grade in her mind - then she’ll double down on the grades aren’t important stance but she even gets a sliver of a first it’ll be bombarded in our faces. Alongside, of course, ‘Oxford student’ in every video title.

I wonder how she’ll announce her acceptance as we all know if she gets rejected I don’t think her ego would even allow her to announce publicly again she got a knock back from her dream uni.

Given that Ruby is so keen to be a writer (apparently the entire purpose of her gap year) is anyone else a bit surprised that she has not given any sign of entering any writing competitions? Like those for short stories etc. I imagine they can be amazing for raising your profile and for your CV if approaching publishers. There are even some competitions exclusively for young writers (under 25 yr old) and The Bath Novel Awards has a special category for children's books that would have been perfect for her Lottie Parton book.

I skipped through the video and my favourite bit has to be: "The whole book [The Queen's Gambit], her kind of the social dynamic is like a chess move in itself, which is kind of like which is why it's called The Queen's Gambit". She seems so self-assured spewing this unintelligible poppycock, it's beyond laughable. I guess child prodigy, chess afficionado Ruby Granger hasn't heard of openings and gambits?
No, because when you only play chess at night they’re not relevant.

Increasingly, I don’t believe that it was a ‘traditional job’ - or at least, not in the way that most of us would understand it. I get the impression that Ruby probably wasn’t even being paid, but had offered her time for a few hours a week, presumably for something to put on her Master’s application to look like she actually did something with her year off. She’s been so shifty about this job. I completely appreciate that there’s a limited amount that she could share but she seems to have been working for at most three hours a day, for two days a week, for half a term. Maybe the holiday was pre-booked but I wouldn’t call what she’s been doing a job, it’s much more like voluntary work.
It's the reason why she also volunteered to do that social media "strategy" thing for the Emily Dickinson museum. A regular volunteer wouldn't have the access she had and she most likely made a donation as well. It was all probably in exchange for being able to add it to her masters application. A combination of wealth and nepotism just makes opportunities easier to access. Someone here said that everything she does makes her look good on paper.

Ruby, Screen time on your Mac, iPhone and iPad exist! just set it up and you don't need to set your phone on airplane mode. I have down time on my devices so that I can only use my phone, tablet, and laptop until 10 in the evening. Some apps are restricted, like Safari, Instagram or Pinterest. I also shut down my laptop at 10 (okay, I only put the lid down) and try to wind down by listening to a podcast, audio book while knitting or drawing something. No need for air plane mode or a cover for screens. When I go to bed, I leave my iPad downstairs so that I don't watch Youtube in bed. My sleep isn't better because of this but I hope that it at least has a small positive effect.
