Her Depop makes my skin crawl every time I see it. Everything she sells at ridiculous prices is always unironed and has been sat festering in some dark, damp, mouldy corner of her house for years. I think she's said before that she stores it all in the attic.

When she's not just showing that the clothes looks like shit, she's posting listings where the only pictures are from 6-10 years ago.

This is from a recent listing. Her dog is still a puppy in the picture.

You're supposed to show the current condition of something you're selling, not a few mostly-obscured photos of it from a decade ago. I dread to think how dusty and cobwebbed these are when she finally unearths them to post them, she sure as hell isn't washing any of it.

Whatever mental health issues Ruby has, they are her own responsibility at the end of the day as an adult. Her parents can only help so much. I think people assume if you are mentally ill that you want to automatically get better and seek help yet as crazy as it seems, a person can get a lot of comfort from dwelling in their own problems. Some people even don’t want help just to see ‘how bad things can get’. I know for me when I was heavily depressed, a part of me didn’t want to get help because being in my own little bubble was actually easier than dealing with the problem at hand. The difference is with Ruby with this mindset however is that she isn’t doing this herself, she’s actively promoting it as a good thing (over working yourself, isolating yourself) to a large audience of mainly impressionable young people who look up to her.

I don’t think de-platforming her will help, and it leads to a slippery slope of hiding people who do struggle with their mental health or just in general. But I think a bit of self awareness would go a long way for Ruby’s channel. Acknowledging that her need for constant stimulation and productivity possibly stems from an unhealthy place and that her desire to be ‘unique’ borders on ridiculous. Her young fans should be reminded by her that productivity fluctuates greatly throughout a span of someone’s life and ironically don’t be shamed if you don’t have very niche interests and if you do actually enjoy to follow trends, that’s just human nature to want to fit in with others. Unsurprisingly I don’t think we’ll ever get an honest discussion from Ruby.

I mean, most of the list is clearly a work of fiction (she's tasked herself with doing lots of PP "admin" despite having no actual role in the company) so this is undoubtedly her trying to massively embellish her school role right on cue.

But god, the thought of some poor bastard getting their A-grade essay mismarked to a B/C because Little Miss Malaproprism can't understand basic language...

Every time. Every time I decide to stop reading Ruby's Tattle thread and just casually watch some of her videos if I feel like it, she goes on and does something weirder than ever that the youtube comments barely mention. The 5AM candlelight writing thing in January at -6 degrees is mental. It is also not real, obviously. At -6 degrees her tea in a regular cup would get cold in like 2 minutes. But it is also mental.

She bought a cottage a few years ago. There was a vlog about it but the video's been removed, probably due to privacy issues and backlash. I'm pretty sure she rents it out. I know Ruby earned lots of money through YouTube, but I'm guessing her parents helped financially too? But yes, she does have the option of moving into her own place.

There was lots of "JANUINELY moiy parents did NWOT give me money fwore the deposit, JANUINELY! OIY PROMISE YOO" denials, so it's a given that daddy put up the deposit.

Mortgage lenders are notoriously reluctant to lend to influencers because there's rarely a consistent, sustainable income, so I don't believe for a second that she got a mortgage at 18 when her channel was relatively new without her parents being heavily involved and putting up cash.

There was also lots of "Oiy'm JANUINIELY nwot making this video johst tyoo brag and byoast!" disclaimers, she "JANUINELY" saw it as a big step in her "parrsonal devalopmant" to be able to overcome her fear of living alone and was "johst syo acksoyted" to...buy a house that she had no intention of living in for several years at least. So it's a given that she uploaded the video just to brag and boast.

Watch the video in the Wiki and take a shot any time she says "JANUINELY". Your liver will be pickled before the video's finished.

Older generations indeed is Ruby aware that the youngest Millennials are 27 (ish, depending on the line in the sand), hardly doddery old fools who shake their fists at clouds.

Also, adding Trampolining Society and Harry Potter society (VP) is definitely not the kind of thing you add to a professional LinkedIn profile as an adult. I wouldn't even have added this to my academic resume as a teen. Lol.

I suppose you could add it, if you wrote it in such a way that it highlighted the transferable skills you gained while being in that role. I don't know, things like organising events, managing teams, getting funding, that sort of thing. But just writing it down like that makes it sound really childish and like she's desperately trying to pad out her CV.

As far as I can remember, someone called her out on the board not making any sense, and she replied with something about ”this is just staged for the photo, we only play chess at night” In the dark? Where no one can see?

Of all the things that annoy me about Ruby, her complete inability to admit when she’s wrong is probably the most irritating. She will never, ever admit that she doesn’t know something and will either ignore the criticism or come back with some daft excuse (because obviously when you play chess at night it doesn’t matter where you put the pieces ). My favourite is when she’s pulled up for an incorrect pronunciation and she always has to respond with ‘well, I’ve heard it pronounced this way so …’. It’s hilariously annoying.

That’s why I find her irritating af. I don’t think she’s a bad person at all but omg I wish she’d just learn to hold her hands up from time to time and just say ‘yeah, I got that totally wrong, thanks for correcting me and teaching me something new’, but instead she’d rather try and defend it because she’s genuinely terrified of not being the best at everything and not being right all the time.
Know it alls are so jarring to be around, it’s a wonder she has any friends at all tbh… humility is a very important trait lol.

Confession time: if I’m reading a book that I can’t put down, I do walk around my house reading as I lock up and brush my teeth etc before climbing into bed. Because I simply cannot put the book down and want to know what happens! Not for performative, look at me I’m such an avid book reader, superior reasons. But then I don’t spend my life lying and it’s because I have a job and adult life stuff that means the times I get to read are very precious!

It's beyond cringe and I can't look away. I keep hoping someone starts playing music to signal that she needs to wrap it up and leave like they do at the Oscars when rambling speeches run too long.

Edit: Oh god, the audio for the stream glitched out when they recorded it, so now there's delayed audio of Ruby playing over the current audio of her talking and it sounds like there's duelling Rubies in the room both talking over each other and vying for the spotlight, neither of them making sense. It's utter madness. I love it.

I watched some of the oldest videos she still has up on her channel today (please don’t judge, I had a ton of knitting to catch up on and Netflix was far too brain-engaging) and can confirm the only thing she has now that she didn’t have 8 years ago is better equipment. She has several videos where the camera focuses on her Cath Kidston curtains (can you imagine how dusty and gross they must be by now?) and both her voiceover and the music sound like they’ve been filtered through a vat of mashed potatoes. The awkward cuts and audio craziness were there and they haven’t gotten any better or worse.

She wasn’t quite as much of a habitual liar back then, though, and I found that refreshing.

Occasionally I go back and watch her videos from way back or even the first year of uni. As a teenager, while she was odd and spoiled, I felt she had a more normal lifestyle. She seemed to know who she was. A student, a studytuber, associated with Hermoine Granger, head girl, hung out with some friends and cousins regularly. Quirky as she was and certain things done to an extreme, I didn't mind her so much. Okay, her family had money and her accent was fake. But she was a kid. She could get away with things, that back then could be seen as immaturity or childishness, that would eventually pass. But they didn't. I was excited to watch her grow up at uni and start adulting, but she never did. I waited, year after year, to see that transformation, but it never happened. No sponsorship, no travelling, no authorship will ever bring that to her. That comes from within. What once passed as odd or even eccentric is now uncomfortably abnormal. She isn't someone I would want to have near me. She isn't someone I would want near kids. Or anyone who is easily influenced by others. She has a toxicity to her. Her ED, her perfectionism, her fakeness, lies, pretending, all of it. It just creeps me out. Because if you don't break away from these tendencies, you can end up going down a dark road and taking others with you. This may sound cruel, but it is true. She will be more than the oddball out. I just get a lot of cringe from her now. And every week she seems to get worse. If she is in therapy, it doesn't seem to be helping much. No matter how many routines she does, books she reads (or pretends to read) or spins around the field, she just seems utterly lost and pointless.

Does... what is a carlisle jumper? Doesn't she mean fairisle? She's wearing a fairisle jumper? Has she literally just substituted it with another place in "the north"?!

Also lol at her being like "I won't tell you anything about it but I totally recommend that YOU do it without knowing anything about you or your attributes".

She does this, slightly opens a door to something interesting and then slams it shut. Like in the autumn when she went to Amherst. Someone commented on an Emily Dickinson blog asking what it is about Dickinson that speaks so spiritually to Ruby, Ruby replied that it was too personal to share online. I get that she doesn't want to share everything, fine, but why bother replying at all? She doesn't engage with many of her comments as it is. It just seems like teasing.

I just unfollowed her on Goodreads. She’s read 7 books in 2 weeks and I’m fed up with her cluttering up my homepage with her kiddie books. I want to follow people who’ll give proper recommendations of things I might enjoy.
