Worrying enough she has no PGCE or similar but she has so little life experience that she will literally be unable to teach and guide children if they need help. Also think she is underestimating how time consuming being an actual teacher is, even if she is only doing it part time she will have to make lesson plans, mark work, make power points, go to meetings and chase up students who were off/late she wont have time for her pointless busy work and 20 books she writing
I can see her maybe sticking it out for a term at most before quietly bailing.

She abandoned her own book club because she claimed reading one book a month and talking about it once a month with strangers on a Zoom call was "too stressful" (i.e. she wasn't the smartest person in the room so she gave up instantly). I can't see her coping in a role where she's expected to command the attention of a (potentially very unruly) classroom, engage them in coherent conversation and explain concepts clearly and intelligently. She'll get crucified.

She'll post a couple of sporadic half-assed vlogs/routine videos that are indistinguishable from all her others, but include a lot of "...and THAN OIY wahnt tyoo wahhrk, whahhr oiy did lyots of wahrrk in moiy job whahrr oiy wahhrk in a traditional job as a wahrking teachah who whahrhkhs..." comments but show absolutely nothing of her working day.

She'll add 46 hours worth of condensed footage onto the rest of the "waahrhk day" to show how she JANUINELY worked a full day, wrote a book, baked some nightmare concoction, ran a marathon, attended a PONKER PODDUNTIFTY Zoom call, read 5 books, wrote an essay, tidied her room, wrote a LATTER to her BASST FRAND Blakeney, then used her Nyord V P Anne subscription to JANUINELY watch a whole series thanks to Nyord V P Anne who VARRY KOINDLY sponsored the video. Her outfit will change at least 6 times. She'll comment that she hasn't been able to vlog much or make content because she's been too busy "wHahrHRkinG".

And then she'll probably quit the job, but keep mentioning her "wahrk day" in rehashed vlogs for a few months up until the summer to act like she's done a full year. Then she'll announce that she decided not to stay with teaching because it was burning her out to do so much (despite her not doing much of anything) and "MANTLE HALTH" is important so she's decided to focus on either a Masters (in the unlikely event she gets in anywhere) or YouTube and becoming a WROYTAH full time instead.

After that, she'll treat teaching like a task she "completed" and will likely make lots of references to her time as a teacher to reinforce whatever nonsense she has to say about "HOSSTLE COLCHA" that week. But she'll be back to decomposing in her room, doing nothing and accomplishing nothing, uploading just as little content as ever, all of it woefully incompetent and criminally lazy.

Just to add on the whole teaching thing. She made that video about how schools are destroying our desire to learn because they follow a syllabus...does she not realise that's EXACTLY what she will have to do for her job. And she can't be giving her interpretation of the text because she has never had an original thought. So what is she actually going to be doing there. You can't talk about how aesthetic a poem is, you have to mention history, socioeconomic factors of the time, different critics and so much more. Everything she has ever talked about literature wise she was obsessed with because it fits a dark macadamia victorian aesthetic.

Edit: When I was in secondary school, finding my teachers Facebook and lurking through them with my friends was a fun past time. I can't imagine Ruby's students finding her cringe tiktoks and videos... yikes

She’s probably reading Spare because she has a vague memory of there being a younger sibling somewhere and she’s wondering what it’s like …

"It's moinuss SIX tyoday, syo at the myoment oiy'm wahrring moiy THICKEST Carloiylse jompah. Boht oiy can't waahr this to waahrk."

Wait, hold up, gonna have to stop you there Rubes... No way is this first thing in the morning and no way did you get fully dressed just to choose a work outfit to get dressed into. Your room is lit by fucking beaming midday sunshine. What the fuck kind of slack-ass, show-up-whenever-you-want school job do you expect people to believe you have that you don't even have to start getting ready until like 1 in the afternoon?

Also the only time it hit -6 degrees in Ruby's town this month was yesterday. A Sunday. Y'know, the day when no schools are open.

"Oiy'm ACTUALLY BOZZING FWORE TYODAY AS WAHL."

Yeah, no shit, it's a Sunday and you don't have to leave your bedroom, and you've found another excuse to lie your ass off on the internet, no wonder you're excited.

Untitle87987976795779879675d.png

And, naturally, she settles on an outfit that just looks like a school uniform with an undeclared ad for MISPAH TEENAH, and just ends the video mid-word.

I just realized she shows herself making her terrible collar in the intro. Love how shes wearing that needle-cushion on her sleeve to act all like a professional seamstress or sth, while cutting some fabric on her bed, presumably with kitchen scissors or sth...

1673469275287.png

also, she actually used a sewing machine to make the dreadful thing. She actually made the effort the get the machine, put it on her desk etc. just to do the worst, most effortless job ever on the collar. I'm amazed. I cant even being to think of a part of the collar on which the sewing machine could have been used, since there is not a single proper seam visible.

Edit: apparently she also started to plan "lesson one", wrote "resources" on her checklist and the next thing we see is her scrolling pinterest. So this is the extend of her preparing a lesson. I'm amazed. Wish I was paid to mash random pinterest inspo-pics onto a powerpoint and probably copy-paste the sparknotes on wutherin heights.

We shouldn't categorically disapprove of everything Ruby does. She seems happy in her van short video, as well as Blakeney. I am glad she is spending some time with people other than her family, and one good thing about Blakeney is that she definitely didn't befriend Ruby just because of her social media following. Otherwise she would have a public profile somewhere. So it does seem like an authentic friendship.

She gets out of bed in her Snoopy pajamas, reads Prince Harry’s masterpiece while brushing her teeth, has green tea, eats breakfast, reads thirty pages, does some research, reads a middle grade book so she can recommend it to the other school children, goes outside, plans her day, checks her email, drinks iced coffee, and conveniently omits the fact that mummy/daddy/grandma drive her to school 😂

Oh and on days she’s not working, she goes to ballet class with her grandmother.
I'm sorry but how does she have time to cram all these things in before she goes to work as the school hours are 8:30 to 5 because to me it doesn't seem that feasible. I have just noticed that she has titled the video 6am morning routine for work, yet halfway through the video she instead decides to film the next day when she isn't going to work which defeats the object of this video as her morning routine will be different on the days that she does go into work and on the days that she doesn't go to work.

Oh my god she's such an idiot, she's going on about how you miss the beauty in the language when watching Shakespeare's plays. Firstly, they're PLAYS, so they're intended to be performed. Secondly, they're saying the same words?? The performance of the language is still the language?? She's such a fake, it doesn't make you more of a literature lover because you literally prefer reading the words.

Glad to see she’s been taking good care of her D&G trousers, I’m sure these will sell in a flash.

A job in a coffee shop or bookshop where she can have gentle chat with customers, read books on her break and do however many hours she wants would have been far better to ease her into the workplace.
I still can't understand why so many commenters here think that retail would be good for Ruby's mental health, social anxiety, and overall well-being. As someone who's spent time behind a counter, I can unequivocally say that customer-facing jobs are not mellow ways for anyone to "ease into the workplace."

Many interactions with customers are anything but "gentle," and can be stressful for even a very well-balanced person to deal with on a daily basis. In my retail days, I saw more than my share of co-workers reduced to tears by a foul-tempered customer. I remember some particularly awful encounters to this day, even decades later. If you think Ruby can't handle a classroom of private-school girls, I doubt she'd fare well with pissed-off, demanding, or sometimes downright crazy customers.

As for working however many hours she wants? Unless the retail industry in the UK is structured very differently from that of the US, employees don't get to make up their own schedules. Retail operating hours are almost always longer than school or office hours, with most shops open on evenings, weekends, and holidays. Between these demands and the high turnover of retail staff, store employees often have schedules that change every week, creating constant unpredictability. And these jobs can be more physically demanding than you'd expect, requiring hours of standing on your feet, cleaning, restocking shelves, etc. Food service, especially, is hot, messy work -- it's not Rachel Greene flouncing around Central Perk with a coffee pot and chatting up her friends on the couch.

I agree that Ruby is going to have a tough go in a classroom setting, but retail would be an even worse situation for her. Unless she has some inner reserve of pluck that we've never seen, I doubt she'd last a week in any sort of shop. Personally, I think she should have sought out a job in some small office near her home. I'm sure that her parents must know someone in the area who could use a part-time assistant to do light office work. Emphasis on "light," because Ruby doesn't have any serious admin skills, either. I'm thinking of a job like that of the assistant in my accountant's office: She opens envelopes, makes copies, files, prints labels, waters the plants, and occasionally orders lunch. That's about Ruby's speed, and I think the sort of fussy busy-work that's often endemic to the life of a small office would appeal to her performative "productive" proclivities, while getting her out of the house for a few hours per week.

Apologies for the rant!

If any other creator titled their video like this, I wouldn't give it a second thought. But, considering Ruby's creepy obsession and fixation on Blakeney, something tells me this was her idea.

I know they’re designer but 84 pounds? They look ancient and she’s not in need of money. I’ve checked out her depop and it’s mainly full of tatty cheap clothes. She’s selling second hand H&M and Zara for £20+??? Who the hell is buying this crap? I can’t fathom buying or selling this type of stuff, why doesn’t she just donate to a charity shop?

Thank u for the new thread. 😊 Love the title.

In the previous thread, Ruby did the following:
  • had a productive flu
  • visited some notorious Christmas lights
  • read a disappointing number of books
  • made a video listing the books.
  • she's still throwing shade at Sun Tzu.
  • created extra work for the bomb squad by leaving parcels in public locations.
  • wore the world's ugliest outfit - the brown shorts refuse to die.
  • wrote a poem about Santa being shot. Why the violence Roobee, why?
  • more sponsorships and weird collabs including a surprise tv appearance for ''the girl, the pox, the vole and the shorts.''
  • (The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse)
a new thread title so soon? Ruby Granger #36: the girl, the pox, the vole and the shorts

Regardless of how we feel about Roobee and the quality of her videos, and in spite of the way she has ruined The Nutcracker for us, let’s at least be grateful she’s no longer using the music starting at 2:42 in this video:

Even here she says “if you just want to sit in your university room it’s fine”… she’s really clinginggg to university :( or maybe she just wants to appeal to that audience
Why is she buying one of those awful Five parody books when she's surrounded by amazing literature??

Also yeah, I'm shy and introverted too but regular socialization is necessary to keep most people mentally and physically healthy imo. There comes a point where you have to break out of your little Victorian book cave and meet people, otherwise you won't develop the social skills you need for future life - and you miss out on a lot of good conversation and valuable insight when you're alone. Spending too much time alone can literally ruin your health; it leaves you alone with your thoughts and worries, and once you become addicted to social media that just amplifies your existing insecurities imo.
Ruby emphasises the introvert experience and how it's ok, but she doesn't ever acknowledge that university isn't just about studying - it's about making connections and improving your soft skills, too. It's fine to not want to go out and drink yourself silly every night, and we should move away from the idea that all students are obsessed with partying; it's expensive and physically exhausting, and some of us actually want and need to study hard. However, as with all things you need balance, and shutting yourself indoors like Ruby does is going to give you a very disappointing and lonely university experience.
She should be encouraging shy students to join events, find friends and explore their university towns/cities, because after years of pandemic-induced isolation what most young people really need now is social interaction...

[At least I have a new bookshop recommendation now, though (as if I need more oops)]

Painstakingly watched her new video on the books she "read" (but didn't actually) in 2023 to write some comments for the thread...
- She starts off by telling us that she wanted to read 220 books and only "read" 117 books. Funny that she blames this on her few days of flu - even though she's had half a year of basically doing nothing to spend on reading. I would maybe believe this comment if she showed us some kind of reading log/schedule rather than just telling us about her Good Reads page.
- As always her pronunciation and grammar is awful. I cringed when she pronounced Sun Tzu as "Sun Shuewee" and then proceeded to make herself sound particularly thick by saying Art of War was too much about war for her.
- The more you watch of her the more obvious her lying tells are. She darts her eyes to the side, overly raises her eyebrows and does a weird "i'm so passionate about this" smile thing (good example at 6 min mark).
- Her analysis of texts always feels really basic (when she speaks about Cicero's letters). She still behaves like she's in high school rather than someone who has spent years at university and wants to do a master's degree. I think the multiple jump cuts in one sentence really don't help her with this!
- Overall, she doesn't say anything useful/interesting about the books she's "read" so this is basically just a glorified "look how clever I am!!" video. Which fails when the majority of the books she reads were intended for teenagers/children. In typical Rubeee fashion, she justifies her love for children's books with a C.S. Lewis quote...not saying there's anything wrong with reading these books but I hate that she tries to justify it/make it sound "academic".

I love how the panel is made up of far more qualified individuals. And she's just: (failed) writer, (lukewarm) entrepreneur, lover of chess and nature walks (or something)
