lmao. As she goes on and on about snowflakes, I can't help watching the others who are absolutely disinterested in what she is babbling about and grabbing water, adjusting their clothes, looking all around, not paying attention to a single word. WTF with the claw arm? Can she not just sit still and speak in a mature manner? She keeps flipping her messy long hair. I can't believe she didn't even try to pull it back for a special occasion. And the slouching. She has spent so much time at her computer, crumpled over, that you can see she can't even keep her back straight for a full minute. Never mind her empty speech. People who quote others all the time have nothing worthy of their own to say. She is a train wreck!

Are her “freckles” always in the same place? I’m just wondering how much effort she puts in to lie, and how different her life would be if she put the same effort into being honest and owning things she did or got wrong…
Never in the same place twice and often spontaneously grow, move, change shape, disappear and reappear at multiple points in the same video.

Sometimes they're not there, sometimes a gigantic mole has spontaneously appeared on her nose. Sometimes they're dots, sometimes they're smeared lines, sometimes there's some kind of weird snail drawn on her nose.

As with everything she lies about, she puts no effort into making this remotely believable or consistent.

Cosmetic freckles are super popular nowadays, and we live in an age where people routinely change the entire structure of their face using makeup contouring, so there's nothing stopping her from just saying "I don't really have freckles, but I love how they look, so I add some on as part of my makeup routine".

It'd still look ridiculous because of the lack of effort and consistency, and it'd still be obviously part of her sad, desperate precocious child cosplay, but overall, people wouldn't care. Pretending that they're real every time only draws more attention to how stupid it is, how dishonest she is about everything and how fake everything about her is. She'll never stop being her own worst enemy.

I've noticed that Ruby never talks up the Brontës, even though the sisters and their writing would seem to be perfectly aligned with her online image and purported interests. How does a supposed lover of literature, Victoriana, and moody atmospherics routinely ignore the Brontës? Too violent? Too sexy? Whatever the reason, I get the feeling she's not a fan, so it'll be interesting if she has to do some kind of academic instruction on Wuthering Heights.
Wuthering Heights might be a bit too raunchy for her, I think thats why she doesn't talk up the Brontes. I've come to the conclusion that Ruby isn't a true lover of literature. She just loves the image and identity of being bookish and literary.

lmao what about the bit where she said they wanted to make it ImMERsIVe so when the characters drank water, they also drank some water. It's like they were in the book or something!
A true edge-of-your-seat thrill ride!

I'm eagerly awaiting Ruby's next failed book submission, The Hydration of Erimentha Parker.

I don't want to know what's going on at their house at night :ROFLMAO:
Pa Granger, dressed like a character in a Dostoevsky novel, huddles with the dog in the dark trying to keep himself safe from Mother Granger’s latest disaster and Ruby’s increasingly desperate attempts to light a candle. Mother Granger flings herself down the stairs into the swampy kitchen in her haste to sniff Pa’s tomato-soupy armpits. Meanwhile, Ruby is twirling alone in the pitch-black drawing room, playing chess against herself with anything that comes to hand - a candlestick, an unread novel, a mug of cold tea and a half-finished Master’s application. It doesn’t matter when you only play chess at night … Somewhere, there’s a half-remembered memory of another sibling. Marvin? Malvina? Millie? Who knows?

I am actually quite curious about her little job thing at her old school. I hope for her sake that it's an eye-opening experience to finally see what a real workplace is like and what people expect from a 22 year old in real life.
Knowing Ruby she might find it too overwhelming and quit. In my experience around two weeks into a new role it's when it starts getting stressful. You're past the exciting phase and you're starting to get into a routine, but you are still learning and not yet confident or fully independent, you still mess up, if you're like me you get super anxious about it, etc.
I think that if she tries to stick it out and keeps a positive, open and eager mindset this could be a good thing for her.

I mean… learning just ‘for the sake of learning’ is all well and good when mummy and daddy will allow you to indefinitely live rent free in their mansion 💀, some of us are quite literally just at university so that we can get a job and pay our bills. That’s how life works in the real world.
In my experience when you're 18 and choosing what to do with your life, way too many people tell you to "follow your dreams! If you have a passion go for it! Don't choose something you don't like just because you think it'll be easier to find a job!"
And the result is that now that my uni education path is almost over and I'm starting to look at career opportunities, not a day goes by that I don't tell myself whyyy didn't you choose a more expendable degree. Why did you listen to those people. And my degree isn't even actually "that bad" when it comes to jobseeking, but it's not a law or engineering degree either. And now that I'm older and I look back I see that I could have succeeded in one of those more "career-oriented" degrees too, even if they weren't exactly my absolute favourite thing, and I ask myself what the hell I was thinking.
So imo it's the opposite, I think that way too many young people go to uni with this mindset (that you shouldn't choose based on job opportunities but rather your interests) and end up disappointed years later when they are looking for a job.

(I hope no one interprets this comment as dismissive of humanities degrees or like I'm saying that they're not worth it. I'm saying that rather than young people choosing based on career options, I see a lot of young people choosing based on passions and interests and then being let down by society when it seems like there's no place for them in the workforce)

When she reads out the passages of letters or other texts, why does she feel the need to lend some drama to it. Her eyebrows be going all over the place. Does anyone remember that Cadbury chocolate ad with the kids and the eyebrows? 🤣
eyebrows.gif
That'll be the shitty Emma Watson eyebrow acting that she's clinging for dear life.

I truly wonder what her personality would be like if she never laid eyes on Hermione Granger. She has no manner of speech of her own (Emma Watson/Hermione Granger), she has no personality of her own (Hermione Granger/cherry picked parts of studious little girl characters), she has no thoughts or opinions of her own (stolen from essays or researches of others), she has no actual passions or hobbies (performative stuff for the views), she has no connection to the world (hiding in her bedroom unless she is paid to leave it). Sometimes it feels like she barely exists.

It really was the best thing for Ruby's own mental health that she was rejected, and even though the lack of an interview for Oxford masters massively increases her chances, I'm far from convinced she's any readier than she was four years ago.
Yeah, I don't think she learned anything from any rejection she's experienced, least of all the Oxford one. She hasn't developed her critical ability in any way following her Oxford interview fuck-up and has no self-awareness, so I'm sure she still views that Oxford rejection as some kind of cruel mistake on their part.

Her getting a FARRST at AXATAR will have only emboldened her and inflated her ego, and she won't consider that she relied heavily on the work of others and a lenient grading curve that inflated scores. She'll think that final grade proves her worthy of Oxford and proves her right that they make a mistake not accepting her at undergrad.

If the recent video mentioning her Masters application is anything to go by, she's still incapable of explaining why she wants to go to Oxford other than the obvious 'gold trophy' elite status of it all. She still can't say why she wants to do a Masters, or what she'll get from it that she isn't already claiming she gets by "LARRNING FOR THE SYAKE OF LAAAHRNING" in her bedroom with her limitless free time and mountains of cash, resource and privilege.

In reality, she's never seemed committed or interested in actually learning anything beyond the need to avoid the real world in an academic bubble and keep her feet in academia to try to impress strangers with the illusion that she's intelligent and gifted.

It's going to be a Jack Edwards situation all over again; she'll try to wow them with a personal statement outlining her embellished accomplishments, vanity projects, a life of privilege and superficial interest in academia, and yet will be completely incapable of explaining "Why do you want to study English, why do you want to study at Masters level and why do you want to do it at Oxford?"

"Because oiy loff larrning for the sake of larrning and Oxford is the myost varry basst" is not gonna cut it and neither will parroted quotes from dead scholars. She might be able to fool schoolchildren into thinking she's a workaholic genius, but her unremarkable CV and transparent lack of genuine interest in academia isn't likely to endear her to Oxford admissions people reading her statement, especially if they look into who she is and what she does.

Ruby Granger 2023-
  • Still performative as ever and continues to pretend to read large amounts of books (at least half of which are children's novels)
  • Still has the absolute worst fashion sense ever
  • Her Dolly Lottie Parton book really didn't work out
  • Still living in her cluttered childhood bedroom
  • Hasn't changed her sheets in months
  • Apparently is starting work at a "traditional job" this month as a teaching assistant, which we're 95% sure is her old school Piper's Corner
  • Plans to apply for her master's so she can be a student again (most likely Oxford, but there's a lot of doubt she'll get a place)

Alexander Pope was one of the Romantics, according to Roobee 😂 They really don’t teach you a lot at AXA-tar, do they 😂

I understand that reader response and one’s own personal reactions have a place in critical reading, but you can’t just straight up ignore historical context. She does that with every single one of these works. Someone in the comments even points out that she can’t very well criticise a bird book from 1797 for not having information on migratory patterns etc. that simply were not known at the time.

Glad to see she’s been taking good care of her D&G trousers, I’m sure these will sell in a flash.

Yikes again. Is this real? Are they meant to look so creased?

Ruby's so careless when it comes to her belongings. I don't know why it irks me so much. Suppose it just seems disrespectful somehow? Like she's ungrateful for things that other people would treasure. 🙁

ETA: And why is she selling her Dolce & Gabbana stuff but keeping her brown shorts??

Oh hi hello look what I found

I remembered she had talked about "having a paper published" and I wondered what became of it, so I googled "'Ruby Bones' essay".

edit: It's just as we always imagined - word salad cobbled together from way too many sources and not a single original thought to hold it together.
Oh thankyou for this blessing! :D

My brain when trying to read it:

Yeah, this definitely lines up with the essay tactics we'd suspected from her - it reads like she stole three or four essay arguments from respected critics, couldn't decide which thesis she wanted to pass off as her own and just slapped them all together without regard for coherence or original thought. Just a complete, meandering mess of borrowed quotes and disconnected ideas barely glued together by a few garbled sentences.

"This essay will explore how AMMILY DICKINSON was actually not a hermit and not not a hermit! But first a few thousand words about our lord and saviour Jesus Christ."

"Cristanne Miller’s forthcoming Emily Dickinson’s Letters (2023) will include eighty-three new ‘letter-poems’ not identified in Johnson and Ward’s 1986 letter anthology, and stresses that many of Dickinson’s poems took the form of letters."

Why the fuck is Ruby speculating about the contents of unread upcoming books in an academic essay? Did she literally just cram an undeclared ad into a published essay??

I’ve been trying to figure out why the freckle thing annoys me so much and I think it really is because it’s just a microcosm of her whole thing - she thinks everybody else is an idiot, and that we’ll believe anything she tells us even if it’s glaringly untrue so long as she slaps an innocent enough “whoops, didn’t mean to!” onto it.

Next somebody will call her out on it obviously enough that she can’t just ignore it, and it’ll be “well actually when I said that my freckles are genuine I meant that I GENUINELY draw them on my face every morning, so you misunderstood and I was right all along! x”

”I love sealing my letters like this” Like what? By making an unholy mess of a candle (NB not a ”candlestick”!) in the last two minutes of its sad, sad life on your windowsill, together with all the wasted potential of several unlit matches that never got to go out in a literal blaze of glory but are instead being forced to eke out an indeterminate shadow of an existence in ignominy, before you finally manage to clean up your desk, perhaps on the day of your biennial sheets-changing?

Rolling my eyes at her new TikTok video. She's claiming to have already "read" 9 books this year. Looked at her Good Reads and sure enough...very short books and children's fiction strike again. Also I just don't believe she read all 500 pages of Spare.
