I don’t think she has any discord frands, she’s completely abandoned that server!
I'm guessing she sets them up, scouts a few profiles for people who look/act like her and share all her interests, takes their details and bails. She's made the same group multiple times in the past.

legitimate video or just body checking?
Not that I want to watch it lol but I couldn't find that tiktok on her page?

I only got about halfway through the video - bailed at “Soofjan Stevens”. She does do the similar thing to Ruby, when she tells you what she’s going to do instead of just showing it. I can‘t figure out the outfit she wore to the Bird and Blend event - it looks like a weird combination of a nightie, wearing her older sister’s revealing dress that she’s not quite old enough to fill, as well as overdressed all at the same time 🤣 Bless her though, she seems to be enjoying herself and going out with friends etc
Yes that's true enough! And to reply to someone else's comment I didn't realise she was invited by Ruby. I must've missed that part... Well that definitely changes things a bit!

The way they ended this with watch a film/series tho 😂 Ruby does not approve!

Also found this in their “How to read more” short. Safe to say we found a hardcore Ruby minion
This is so off topic but are you german? I see the 'abonnieren' in there! :)

It does make me laugh that heatless curlers are now making their rounds on my IG when (from what I can tell, I haven’t dug that deep so happy to be corrected if I’m wrong) the basic premise would be a sophisticated version of the rag curls worn by Victorians etc during the night, but all I can see is that clip of Ruby trying it and failing….

ps I’m glad she kept that clip of her trying something and it not working out in, just a bit of a laugh and I can kinda see her turning her nose up at someone trying to “modernise” her previous Victorian routines when it quite literally has the same point

"Learn some very basic French." This is going to sound terrible... judging by her knowledge of Spanish.
I hope she'll know how to pronounce 'Poirot' then.

I hope that essay that's "due" after graduation is not her sample essay that she's sending to Oxford (sorry, can't read the word before 'essay' in the photo).
I don’t live in the UK, so please correct me if I’m wrong, but it seems weird to me that she attended an independent secondary school and doesn’t seem to have a basic knowledge of French, Spanish, Italian or German. Even if she didn’t enjoy learning languages, she still had to do the classes…? I looked at her old school’s website and French is compulsory for Year 7 and 8, plus they also offer Spanish and German. Surely she would have retained the basics of French from her early secondary classes?

In fairness, I’m going into my fourth year of French at uni and I’d never pronounce ‘ambience’ with a French accent. Even though the word comes from French most loanwords (from any language) in English do end up, to varying extents, having the English pronunciation be the correct one. I think there’s a danger of sounding a bit pretentious if you stick too closely to the sounds of the source language (not that that is something that would deter Ruby!).

Each language has its particular phonetic patterns and norms, and switching to those of another language mid-sentence, more often than not, just sounds weird and unnatural. And if you did that with every borrowed word from any language, nobody know what you were saying because your speech would be a jumble of accents, each language having its own ‘logic’ which tells native speakers how a vowel should sound in a particular word etc. — at least 75% of English words are borrowed from other languages, at different stages in history.

If everyone who had studied French was expected to use the original pronunciation it probably wouldn’t be too hard to understand because a lot of people have some idea of the phonetics of French and could figure out what you meant, and French is not too different from English anyway. But what happens when the source language in question is not even distantly related to English? Is a polyglot who speaks 10+ languages supposed to pronounce every borrowing from one of their languages in the original way? Language and communication exists to connect with other people, not to alienate them by using a pronunciation of a word which they don’t understand. I know that this is more extreme than the example you gave, but the concept is the same.
I mean you don't have to know how to speak French to know that ambience is pronounced 'ahm-bee-ahnce' not am-be-anss'. I've never heard anyone pronounce ambience the English way because it just sounds so wrong.. And I personally don't think it sounds weird to say ambience the French way when you're speaking English. You don't call someone's name the English way if it's a foreign language name so why should it be different for words? Correct pronunciations of words exist for a reason... I just feel likt it makes you sound like you understand languages and pronunciations when you pronounce a word how it's supposed to sound it its original language. It's just like listening to Americans or Ruby trying to speak Spanish and not rolling the r's, or even trying to even pronounce the words correctly. It hurts to listen to.

I can't get over how similar Sacha looks to Martha. They could literally be twins, not just the fact that they both dress similar/wear the same makeup
Is this the same girl that was at a Christmas market with them and everyone thought it was Marfa? (It was long ago).
I really wanna know who that was. 😆

Sorry to be OT but did she ever give her thoughts on Joan Didions the year of magical thinking? I've had a look but can't find it on her goodreads so I'm not 100% sure she ever finished it

Has this one from Feb 2021 been discussed on Tattle? It was before I joined. She's got a book haul of 45 (!!) books and the first two are etiquette guides. She pronounces the word strangely: etty-ket, though it's possible I'm the one who's been mispronouncing it. And now she's talking about War and Peace - did she ever finish it?! By Leo Toiylstoy, according to Ruby.
she's definitely saying it wrong I think, I'd say it like etty-kut. I remember a teacher saying he would never begrudge anyone for saying long words wrong as usually it means you've only read the words and never heard them said out loud which is fair but Ruby has had such an expensive education it's odd that she gets words like percent and foliage wrong

I know it’s early but I’d like to nominate

Ruby Granger #31 Why in the illiterate, dusty fuck?
Except swears aren't allowed. :( You'd need to change it to Ruby Granger #31 Why in the illiterate, dusty duck? :p

At the end we find out Ruby is reading "The Life of Elves" and she tells us very seriously "it's not actually about elves, which I'm quite glad about" so who knows what drew her to pick it up. It's got a nice automnal feeling though.
Ruby the elf hater. Who knew? 😂

She also recommends Atonement, a WWII novel, as a summer read - but only the first half!
Okay I sort of understand this. I'd never recommend reading only half a book, but the first part of Atonement is deliberately very different in setting and tone to the second. Still weird to suggest only part of a book, though!

. She could make videos about trying new hobbies that are sort of her vibe like crocheting or bullet journaling or scrapbooking or language learning or cooking.
I'd like that! I would even do videos like this myself. As I mentioned, I learnt how to knit socks this year and I want to start bullet journalling (at least trying because I like the concept and I feel like it could help me figure out what I want).
There are so many things she could do and film. Bullet Journal, crafting etc are huge topics on Youtube at she would gain a lot of views. I now want to start myself. lol

I don’t want to roast this girl bc she’s young but jfc that is waaay more than middle class. Work experience at the uncles marketing firm, and her accent is somehow even posher than the way Ruby speaks.
But yeah I think this is the case with every influencer tbh, being wealthy and middle class affords you so many privileges when it comes to influencing, it means you can afford good filming equipment, you can afford to dress yourself up to film, you’ll generally be able to film in your nice big house and go to fancy tea tasting sessions… I can’t think of any working class influencers tbh bc most people don’t want to watch a vlog filmed on an estate off an android phone, they want to see Ruby Granger fucking about in her big mansion in Surrey.
Don't they live in Buckinghamshire?

There is a difference between Margaret Thatcher and Jacob Rees Mogg though. Thatcher, whether you agreed with her ideology or not, was one of the most important politicians of the last century and anyone seriously interested in history or politics of her period would have good reason to read her biography and writings; Jacob Rees Mogg is just a pompous, over promoted 'bit' politico, who will be a footnote in history. No one would read anything he purported to write unless having a very specialised interest in his extreme right wing views.
I know he was PM, but I don't think David Cameron was a very significant political figure - at least not when compared to people like Thatcher or Castro. I also think (and this is probably an unpopular opnion) that politicians' autobiographies aren't the best sources of information because the authors are obviously concerned with presenting themselves in the best possible light.

It's also a bit suspect that Ruby's read the Cameron book but avoids non-fiction about politics. I don't get why she'd read one without ever taking an interest in the other.

I'd love to see her face if someone were to suggest she read a book by or about Arthur Scargill! What's next, listening to a few Billy Bragg records? :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
Why not? She could do a reaction video. :p

I agree with what both of you are saying, but I think she does make herself believe she always reads the whole thing, like by reading it at a very fast pace by missing out large chunks, but by reading at least some sentences on each page. Combine that with online summaries, and there you have the feeling you're not missing out on anything.
I just don't see herself as someone who deliberatively lies to her viewers to such an extent. She's too naive to do that, I think she would feel bad about that so she prefers convincing herself that she actually reads everything.

Not to worry, I went back to Waterstones and after a lot of searching, I found a copy hiding in the stock room.

View attachment 1506985

The Waterstones employee will be VARRY embarrassed to learn how wrong he was, if he ever comes back from his lunch.
I now know why I couldn't find the book it is because I couldn't understand what Ruby was saying as I thought she was saying Amunsta Quorls and not A Monster Calls. 😂
