On the topic of Ruby becoming a teacher 100% agree with everyone saying it is not for her. You can’t go into teaching hoping it’ll help you mature, you need to have matured beforehand and be in an adult mindset. I’ve just finished my 1st year of doing primary education and can’t imagine Ruby managing the class I had. The teacher and TA were always there to help me if things go too out of hand, but there were times when I felt really overwhelmed and I wonder how Ruby would manage if a lesson she’d meticulously planned didn’t go exactly to plan. You have to be flexible to allow for disruptions and often I was planning around the lowest ability and worst behaved pupils to ensure lessons could cater to everyone and limit opportunities for misbehaviour. Ruby would definitely only pay attention to the top pupils and even then some of them can be quite naughty because kids play up. She also wouldn’t dream of going to the non Russell group uni I’m at (although Durham offers the course) and might struggle to manage coursework and placement as PGCEs are very intense (although I’m not certain about what they involve as I’m not doing one) and she probably won’t have time to continuously re-read and change work.

I never thought it would get to the stage where plenty of you are sitting through a live university graduation just for 10 seconds of seeing Ruby walk onto the stage 😂 😂
The summer heatwave is clearly making us all delirious.

That and there's always the slim chance she'll trip, get booed, or attempt to accept Blakeney's award as well.

Good lord, the waffling Tory vibes are strong with this ceremony though. Just give people their degrees so they can go home already!

Speaker: "This is a forever university; DO stay in touch."

Oh, you're gonna regret saying that with Ruby in the audience...

Speaker: "You have knowledge and humility."
Ruby: "I dyoo?!"

For the amount of editing Roodawakening is supposedly doing, we're getting remarkably few videos. Her Italy vlog is like a month late at this point. Although knowing her, it's not so much an issue of editing (we all know she does very little of that) as waiting for sponsors to approve the videos.

Thank you to @heroesfeast for the wonderful title.

In the last thread, Ruby finally received her degree results and was disappointed that she only got a measly first. Not to worry, though! Ruby then told us that grades aren't important (while also telling us that they are important and employers will judge you if your module results aren't above 70).

In other news, it took her three hundred years to read Call Me By Your Name.

Umm, what else happened? It's all a blur now.

Wow, I just saw this video in which Ruby is bragging about her Christmas gifts, and wow. I've always thought that scene from the HP book where Dudley received a ton of gifts was an exaggeration.
Except it's worse! Dudley only has 36 presents, while Ruby gets:

In her stocking: 16 presents
From Santa: 23
From Daddy Bones: 3
From Mother Granger: 4
From both of her parents: 10
From Marfa: 10
From friends: 16
And from her family: 6

That's 88 total! Dudley would be shook.

Of course I did count every item, so the three pens or three packs of licorice were probably wrapped together and could have been counted as one present, but still pretty wild... growing up my parents would usually do three presents and some candy, and my siblings and I would give each other handmade presents, and I thought that was pretty good!

I hated her spiel about how shopify makes owning a business accessible...okay land lord with no long hours or real commitments or bills to pay explain how having to pay for a website domain makes owning a business more accessible for ordinary people
It's because all the magical "wabbsite" fairies appear as if from nowhere to pay for your supplies, build your business, handle all your logisitics, shipping, returns and customer service, handle all the labour for you, balance your books and do all that pesky accounting, and then do your tax returns! It's like magic! At least that's been her own experience with her business and her life in general - everyone else does all the work for her and she takes credit and gets rewarded for it.

Does anybody know what her current novel roughly is about? Has she shared any more information than it being Young Adult?
On a side note, I have not read much Young Adult, so correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't they usually about teens falling in love? I absolutely cannot imagine her writing about that. It must be another asexual bullying story, but with a protagonist older than Erimentha.
Details revealed so far:

It's a YA mystery titled 'Lottie Parton is a Bad Friend'.

The book's protagonist, Lottie Parton, is just Ruby/Erimentha again with a different name. She's hyper-fixated on studying, obsessed with grades and has vague and poorly-defined OCD traits.

The main plot centres around Lottie trying to find a missing 9-year-old girl, Janey, who is apparently Lottie's friend. Lottie is in Year 10, so 14-15 years of age - far too old to be friends with small children. The child's dissappearance is apparently Lottie's fault.

In the samples shown so far, no investigation appears to be happening, and the book is about how a missing child's burdensome dissappearance affects Lottie's concentration when she's trying to study. She appears more invested in wishing she was part of the "mean girl" clique-y friendships of other students than finding the probably dead child whose disappearance is her fault.

This, like Erimentha Parker's To-Do List, takes place in a world without boys and romance. The only male characters are teachers, parents and possibly siblings/cousins.

It seems to be set at another girl's private school, because Ruby has never socialised with boys and so has no idea how to write them. She also has no idea how to write girls, either, which is why the main character is herself and everyone else is a cardboard cliché stolen from another YA book she skimmed through.

All the teachers are interchangeable and talk exactly the same.

All the students are interchangeable. They all appear to have been written with OCD traits.

It's about bullying again. A subplot recycled from Erimentha Parker involves Lottie choosing not to snitch on some classmates for bullying another girl, even though this time, the bullying is practically attempted murder (hurling rocks at a girl's head). It's not the time to alert thr authorities. Instead, Lottie has printed and compiled a binder full of evidence to use at a later date, like when the bullies have successfully killed someone or insulted Lottie's planner.

It looks like a trainwreck. It's a bad Wattpad book that Ruby thinks will catapult her to Stephen King levels of success.

Lmao Ruby you're the one who chose to wake up at 7:30 and only get 5 hours of sleep.
You're an adult, you don't need mommy to tell you to go to bed. If you want 8 hours of sleep and you went to bed at 2 just wake up at 10. What's stopping you other than the imaginary productivity standards you hold yourself to?
Or if you don't wanna wake up at 10 as it's too late just go to bed at midnight and wake up at 8. That seems reasonable to me.
Or if you absolutely want to wake up before dawn just don't do any work in the evenings and go to bed at 9.

She literally has no set schedule or responsibilities to attend to. She can wake up and go to bed whenever she wants. You literally cannot be sleep deprived in these circumstances unless you are choosing to sleep too little, or you have medical conditions that prevent you from sleeping well.
You can already see how her life is starting to unravel without the external structure, praise and validation she used to receive at school/uni. She's already flailing about trying and failing to organize herself and preaching and bragging to her viewers in an attempt to cope, and it's only July! She hasn't even officially graduated yet! She has a full year of sitting at home without any structure ahead of her!

I'd feel bad for her, but she really did this to herself lmao

I can't with her asking her audience something and then doing it the way she wants. Just do what you want, why asking in the first place? I think she does it to boost engagement with her account. I believe instagram shows your reels/post more often if your audience is engaged with you via polls, direct messages, comments, likes, etc. Maybe that's why she constantly asks stupid things like "When was the last you visited a library?". It's not because she's interested, she just wants you to make her account more popular.

Morning Routine reaction
DEAD BUG.png

SHE DID IT AGAIN FOLKS: focusing on the dead bug!

Seriously though: Why do a cold shower when you can do a warm one with a cold rinse.

Her breakfast was very small. If you compare it with what you see with people who eat a lot of fruit for breakfast (raw vegans, for instance) they usually eat 3-4x the amount of fruit she's used there.

Ugh, pushing the academic planner again? She doesn't manage her own store. She'd have more meetings about it if she did. This was likely a "ok here's the advertising spots we need you to do" meeting. She's pretending like she does here for the ad, but other times she acts like she has almost nothing to do with it. You've had a good experience with your store? Was the 2021 planner debacle a good experience, Ruby?

omg Ruby is using the grimy coffee machine lol.

Point and peck.png

You'd think a writer who loves her old timey typewriter would be better at typing than the old point and peck method. 1 wpm lol. There's no way she actually writes on that, she must just get it out for the aesthetic in videos

I think one thing we can all agree on is that Blakeney is an absolute saint.

I have a "friend" who only texts me when SHE needs help with something. Then disappears off the face of the Earth, especially if I talk about something outside of academia. Ruby's lucky and fortunate to have found someone who's willing to be her only friend AND literally do her degree for her. Without Blakeney I doubt she would've gotten a First. Even with Blakeney she just sits in her room all day, every day.

Long time lurker here! English isn’t my first language

So apparently Rubella is a geologist/geographer now? I’m having flashbacks to the time she said she LOOOVED astrophysics. I can’t believe she actually included a whole segment about how volcanoes work?? I’m starting geography at uni this fall and I cringed so bad. Roobee, there are actually way more volcano types and they can be divided by so many different criteria, the two types mentioned in the video are pretty much the tip of the iceberg, I can’t even remember them all lol.

I have to say, one of the most annoying things about her for me is how she’s always trying so hard too seem like she just knows absolutely everything. I just wonder if she does this out of insecurity or does she genuinely think that reading about volcanoes as a kid makes her an expert on the topic.

I mean it can't be very easy with the cap :D I wish them both a happy day!
Ruby's overjoyed that she'll never have to leave her bedroom to go to Exeter ever again.
Blakeney's ecstatic that she'll never have to see Ruby ever again.

It's a wonderful day for them both!

It’s a mystery (no I mean literally, it’s supposed to be a mystery) about a child that goes missing, and the protagonist (Roobamenthie Barkerton) is a Bad Friend, because she was too busy worrying about getting a low First and picking her cuticles bloody to go find the child (who is several years her junior, which raises no red flags at all), even though she is a contortionist and has X-ray vision. But this is probably because her parents are off to live on a farm upstate (sic) so she lives with her grandmother, a.k.a. the only person able to appreciate all the housecleaning that Roobamenthie does (because she is a literal saint and also has OCD like some other, totally-not-plagiarised book characters).

I’m fairly confident this summary will go on to save many, many people’s hard-earned cash.

I don’t know where she’s got the idea that employers see your grade and know what level you work at? That doesn’t make any sense, people can work 10x harder and come out with a lower grade. If she means the level of work you produce, that’s not relevant outside academia.

On a different note, I like Eve Bennett but I don’t think the comparisons are that legit as they have totally different personalities. Being in a relationship also doesn’t equal maturity, especially as Ruby has said she’s not sure she wants that.

I’d be interested to hear how she actually felt about her Uni experience.
