Little does she know that it will not give her any fulfillment, because it's not where her heart lies. Hi all, long-time lurker new poster here!
I discovered Tattle several months ago, it was the darkest time of my life (thankfully all is good now) and I must say it brought me much needed laughter. Also, although some topics I found were too severe and nitpicky, it virtually opened my eyes to the (frequent) void behind the polished image influencers carefully build for themselves. I'm in my late 20s, not too naive (at least I hope!) and I was still blinded into believing people like Melanie Murphy or Madeleine Olivia were having a great life. For Ruby, I could see some cracks in the picture but was far to see all of it. I mainly started to watch her about 4 years ago because I wanted some British countryside stuff to listen to in the background, and her study habits still sometimes made me question whether I was doing enough with my own studies! Can't imagine the effect on a young impressionable kid.
Anyway, I could be projecting but part of my feels a bit for Ruby. I've had a very sheltered youth (very different than hers though, did not attend school for one thing). And it took me until I was 22/23 to start breaking free from my family. Back then, I was quite well-read, but terribly socially akward and naive 'in the real world'. I was also very aware of my own limitations, and of the rough time I would have to go through to get rid of them, so I waited a bit too long to take the leap. But better late than never. I hope Ruby does the same thing one day and realize the outer world is not as scary as the picture she's made of it in her mind.
I also find it pretty sad she's so clung on her childhood because ironically it makes her look (and probably feel) older than she actually is. Someone in their early 20s is old only if you look at it from a child's perspective. I have several friends who've completely changed their lives around in their 30s or 40s. At 22, one is a grown-up but still a very young one. One can try things, make mistakes, and be forgiven for them easily. She's not enjoying her youth at all, and I'm afraid she will wake up years later and regret it.

She owns a cottage that’s a very short way away from her parents’ house. Like, biking distance, or even walking distance on a nice day. She bought it when she was 18 and it’s being rented out. She says she bought it with her own money, and she may well have had enough saved up for a down payment - but only because her family is rich enough that she’s never had to work, and has had the leisure and the means (camera, laptop, etc.) to start doing youtube at a young age, hasn’t had to cover any of her own cost of living, etc.
If she’s having a crisis over what she wants to do with the rest of her life, don’t fall into the trap of thinking that she’s in a similar position to most of us. She can afford to decide to do nothing at all for the rest of her days, and her parents are enabling her in that.

It's been 3 days. I'd ask what's wrong with her brain but that seems obvious already.

So...she went with two people: One of whom is a child who just turned 17. STOP BEFRIENDING CHILDREN, RUBY!
Hilariously, Ruby longs to be a child again and showed up looking like everyone's estranged (and very strange) great aunt. She looks 20 years older than everyone else in the picture. It doesn't help that she's wearing grandma's curtains as an outfit.
Note that this is also not the outfit she showed in her outfit of the day, and even though she changed after that, she didn't have the sense to toss that collar in the fire.
Also this "event" seems to just be the staff preparing samples. It's about as much an "event" as when they set up a stand at the supermarket to hand out sample foods on cocktail sticks.

She made the error when she was writing the story.
She either missed it when editing/proofreading the project, or didn't do any editing or proofreading at all (the most likely option).
She missed it when filming the footage of the story and illustrations for her video.
She missed it when editing the footage, or just slapped together the footage without looking (the most likely option).
But considering she pronounced it "tappackle" in this new video, which is unbelievably off-base and close to how she misspelt it, I totally believe that she thought she had it spelt correctly and in her head it wasn't a typo.

List of similarities between Dudley and Ruby:
- receiving tons and tons of birthday presents (although unlike Ruby, Dudley doesn't film videos about it. He also doesn't add the obligatory lip-service disclaimer about how lucky he is, so Ruby wins this round)
- attending expensive private schools
- following a weird diet/food issues of some kind or other (that get ignored by the parents)
- lack of independence, an unhealthily close attachement to mommy and daddy
- academic underachievers (Dudley never did that well in school, Ruby only achieved a low First on her dissertation even though she worked syo syo hard on it)
- no interest in romance
- frequently wears a straw boater hat
- beset by mean haters who harshly criticize their lack of personal development and question their parents' parenting choices (Dumbledore for Dudley, Tattle for Ruby)

Statistically, she's probably not going to transgress boundaries. She's probably just a boring, immature idiot living in filth.
But to those who confidently declare “I'm 100 percent sure” and “She's absolutely not a pedophile”, you have no way of knowing this from her generic social media presence. I am NOT making an argument that she has sexual motivatons when she crosses boundaries with minors (attending school functions or letter-writing to underage fans). What I'm saying is please don't be naive. You have no idea who this person really is from her edited social media presence and the red flags are there - sexual repression (likely self-inflicted), mental health issues, narcissistic tendencies, and enabling support system. Even if she is completely benign, these are sirens sounding and it seems bizarre for anyone to back her innocence 100 percent.
The most successful predatory people hide in plain sight. They may even wear oversized collars and prance in fields. If you'd confidently have this cretin babysit your under 16 year old, knowing what you know about her idealizations of youth, specific fixations, compulsive lying, and boundary-crossing, I'd be disturbed.
This is not to say I suspect her of any specific impropriety. But she has textbook red flags. So to say she's 100 percent trustworthy just because she's young? Because you've seen many videos since she was a minor? Appears asexual? I don't know.
I've been lucky/savvy enough to avoid major victimization so far in my lifetime, but it blows my mind that people would defend Ruby despite knowing her dreadful character otherwise and seeing her personality dysfunction play out in real time week after week on social media. I don't think it's right to condemn her, but it's certainly not an overstep to call her behaviour “creepy”. Please don't be naive with those you interact with day to day - people give you signs of who they are and it's human nature to balk at the big, heavy, weird stuff and dismiss when really should just put a wall up. My wall is I'd absolutely not want this young woman corresponding with a minor in my household.

Blakeney already has a post-grad job working social media/marketing for a vegan food company from the looks of it.
So she did all her own work, did most of Ruby's work for her, worked as the financial manager for the uni TV studio, did a lot of valuable extracurricular work, did charity work, wrote and published a children's book, didn't run home every five seconds, and had a much more active social life than Ruby. I'd assume she got a very similar grade to Ruby's, if not higher at the end of it, too.
Blakeney's was the experience that you're supposed to have at uni - getting a well-rounded education, getting experience that'll improve your job prospects, learning to be independent, meeting new people, learning new things and having fun. And now she's free of the albatross around her neck that was Ruby.
Meanwhile, Ruby's probably writing unsolicited letters to all her primary school teachers to tell them how proud they should be that she got a FARRST.
Ruby has mentioned wanting to do a Masters and has said she aims to apply for one after taking this year out. I don't think she's said Oxford, but given her history and the way she made mummy take her to Oxford so she good gaze lovingly at the buildings she wasn't allowed into and longingly stroke all the student gift shop merch, it's clear she wants to go there and anywhere else would be a disappointment.
Ruby has Studytuber Syndrome - she desperately craves the validation of being accepted to Oxford, because in her mind she's the smartest GAHHHRL who AVVER lived, and only the best academic institution will do (See also: Jack Edwards). They will not accept that their average intelligence, limited ability, lack of appropriate critical thinking and study skills, and complete absence of well-rounded interests and experience makes them a poor fit for a university with such demanding standards, so they keep applying and getting rejected.
Oxford isn't likely to want her. It's entirely possible she applied and was rejected last year and kept quiet about it, which could be one of the reasons she's taking a year out.
Jack has the same grades and very similar experience to Ruby and he's been rejected from Oxford more times than he's had hot meals. And getting accepted might give Ruby an initial boost of validation, but she would be held up to a much higher standard than at Exeter - she won't have the benefit of softball grade inflation. She won't get handed Firsts for "seminar participation" just for raising her hand, spouting gibberish and parroting quotes from critical essays/Blakeney while clearly being unable to speak or understand English.
Her usual cheating tactics and handing in unstructured drivel riddled with errors wouldn't cut it. She was looking utterly destroyed while working on her dissertation and having to try to use her brain and work independently for the first time. She isn't cut out for Oxford and it would demolish her ego.
A Masters will also be completely useless to her other than another way to defer adulthood and attempt to try to prove the narrative that she's an academic genius. Ain't happening.

Yeah, I think she'd only be happy with a very small Venn diagram of kids who're "well-behaved", bookish teacher's pets (so, Ruby/Hermione/Erimentha), but who also aren't smarter than Ruby believes she was at that age. And even then, she'd be more focused on trying to befriend the kid than teach them anything.
You'd better believe if any child she taught was showing more aptitude and more advanced progress than she was at that age, she'd take it personally and sabotage the hell out of that kid. She'd only be there to relive childhood again, she wouldn't want any reminders that she wasn't/isn't as smart as she wishes.

She'd be trying to set them extra unnecessary homework, preaching her warped productivity ideals and making the whole thing all about herself.
