It takes over 55% to get the worst passing grade and over 90% to get the top grade in my country. These threads have really disillusioned me about the ✨prestigious education✨ in UK.
You don't sound too bright. In some subjects in the UK such as medicine or nursing, 90% is the lowest passing grade for many exams. By your logic, your 90% top grade in your country is just a crappy barely-passing grade compared to them. You can't judge totally different education systems and totally different subjects by the same criteria.

Idk if it's just me but I'm just not at all interested in Ruby's degree results cause I'm 100% certain that she'll get a First and a Really Good Grade for her dissertation so there's just no excitement there for me

Oh, my sweet summer child.
Let’s make it clear though - if it weren’t for Daddy Bones’ money, she never could have gotten started on youtube, never could have coasted through her uni years without a job nor any thought of getting one, etc. Privilege ALLLLL the way.

“GCSE workload piling up” 😂😂

Good god, that description makes it sound like a bad piece of Year 8 creative writing.

Was the notebook Ruby's attempt to be more authorly, just feels like she is trying to be an author and looking like one instead of writing stuff down. Has she ever heard of a bag to put them in there instead of a pocket? Can't blame Mother Granger for making fun of her and I think that Martha would have a lot to say about her doing that. Ruby never fails to amaze me in the things that she does at times and always surprises me no matter how long I've been watching her videos. Would like to see a day in the life of Ruby, a not for youtube one, to see what she is like off-camera and not performing, I don't know how different she would be but it would be interesting to be a fly on the wall in the Granger household.

I don't know if I should trust Ruby's advice on this
Ah yes, that's exactly why you should rest and take time off: It's so that you can COME BACK MORE PRODUCTIVE AND FOCUSED! Because remember, you have no intrinsic worth as a human being but rather, your worth is measured in how PRODUCKTIVE and FOCUSED you are while WORKING VERY HARD because that is your sole purpose in life. This is a totally healthy way to think about yourself and your own needs and is not at all influenced by toxic cultural norms!

And by the way, the results of all this PRODUCTIVE AND FOCUSED work absolutely need to be quantifiable (number of hours spent studying, number of pages written) and it is important that you also, simultaneously, love and enjoy every single second of your producktive worrking and studying! Because you always have to be a good student! Because you have no right to develop anything resembling a normal, three-dimensional personality or to live a full human life because PRODUCTIVITY always comes first. THAT IS YOUR IDENTITY. :)

Oh thank you for posting that quote, I really liked reading it! And yeah Ruby totally misunderstood poor C. S. Lewis didn't she. Using his metaphors, Ruby wouldn't even be a train moving from station to station, she'd just be a thin little train engine (dressed up as a Victorian train engine) sitting in the station, refusing to move.

don't think there's anything wrong with going with your family, even if you're in your early 20s like Ruby is.

The issue here is though, it allows zero room for any personal development. She's constantly surrounded by the safety blanket of her parents and any problems would be able to be sorted by them, she'll do everything with them and the opportunities for independence or exploration are virtually non-existent.

I can't emphasise enough how much Ruby would benefit from solo travelling though. I've done so much of it now and even the small things such as booking things, navigating airports/flights, talking to randoms in hostels and finding things to do are things you gain so much from. Not saying she has to jet off to Malaysia, but even a small break to somewhere in Spain would do wonders.

Do I expect her to do it? Sadly not and she'll continue to live in the family protected bubble. I don't see her undergoing any personal growth this year; if anything, I expect her to revert backwards.

A character who makes a plethora of literary references would make for great satire, but, unfortunately, I don't think that's what Ruby's aiming for. This book is going to be a disaster.

Time to start checking the internet histories of all your friends and relatives. Just kidding, don't do that. You don't know what kind of fetishes you'll uncover. You'll never be able to look your grandma in the eye ever again.

Quick question. I've read here some comments about how Ruby pronounce some words, even her name... I'm not a native English speaker, so I can't tell the difference, does she have an accent or she mispronounce words just to sound *posh*?
Her base accent's pretty common (Martha's accent is presumably the baseline for what Ruby's accent would be without all her vocal affectations layered on - essentially a posh Cockney), but whatever she's done from there has turned it into an accent that nobody else has ever used in the history of vocal chords.

Like others have mentioned, most of her accent comes from her trying desperately to imitate Emma Watson as Hermione Granger in the first Harry Potter movie. But in that film, it was a relatively inexperienced child actor playing a snooty, smarter-than-thou bookworm, so there's lots of head waggling, brow furrowing and over-annunciating overacting going on. There it made sense, because it's an 11 year old child actor who hadn't found her footing yet playing an 11 year old character who's kind of a smug, desperate-to-impress asshole at first, and both the actress and the character grew better over the next movie or two. But Ruby adopted that 11 year old, awkwardly-acted smug child's persona at the age of 16 without any trace of irony or awareness, and she never grew past that Year 1 Hermione - the "insufferable know-it-all".

She took that awkward caricature Hermione impression and made it her persona for her entire life to date, but cranked up the "poshness" to 10,000%. The problem is that she's inherently stupid and has a feeble grasp of English for a native speaker, and she's also just pretty inept at everything she does. In her quest to sound even posher and smarter, her already fake-as-fuck accent then evolved into a new language of stupidity, and she started just randomly swapping vowel sounds. "E" sounds become "A" sounds, like whenever she says "AXATAR" instead of "Exeter", "O" sounds become "E" sounds, like when she says "CHEESE" instead of "choose". She puts a hard "Y" sound before every "oo" sound as well, so "Ruby" become "Ryoobee" and "today" becomes "tyooday".

She puts hard emphasis on completely random words, raises and lowers the volume of her voice at random (a problem independent of - but not helped by - her shoddy editing chopping her sentences to bits) and she takes unnecessary dramatic pauses before random words, but especially the word "I". Like "Tyooday, OIY'M...[dramatic pause]...gyowing tyoo dyoo this, AND THAN OIY'M...[dramatic pause] gyowing tyoo dyoo SOMMETHING ALSE." Her natural language mistakes and some of the odder vocal weirdness might pass by unnoticed if she was just speaking in a regular, generic Home Counties accent, but the fake way Ruby awkwardly annunciates along with her weird, alien cadence putting hard emphasis on random words just shines a light on her errors and draws direct attention to all her stupid vocab mistakes and mispronunciation. She constantly sounds like a natural idiot trying desperately to be the smartest person in the room.

She is so pretentious, it really reminds me of that Robert Pattinson quote about pretentious dishevelment
Someone needs to make up a clever phrase to describe wealthy people who cosplay having a job (or indeed, a personality 🙄). Ruby seems to think that just by buying stuff or wearing certain things it will make her into something - I wear a jaunty neckerchief and a beret and therefore JE VIENS DE PARIS, I buy lots of books therefore I AM A READER, I carry a notebook and pen and try to look thoughtful and dishevelled and therefore I AM A WROITER. Next week she will be doing something mildly bonkers and/or offensively stereotypical to show us that now she is AN ITALIAN. THAT IS WHO I AM.

There is absolutely nothing questionable about doing paid work. Not even for a charity. Not even when people who have money work for money. And the people lying about her stealing are still lying about it to people who don't know any better.

And I can't believe that there has been no consequence for the members who have not only come up with this lie but have continued to spread it to different platforms. This is literally legitimate grounds for legal action.
Mmmm everyone has their own moral compass, but I think most people would consider an influencer charging a charity an undisclosed sum of money just to post a picture of herself holding a candle, looking wistfully into the camera pretty questionable behaviour.
In terms of any legal consequences, if you feel that anyone on this gossip site have broken the law then I invite you to start legal proceedings against the offending members, do what you’ve gotta do my friend!

I'd kill to be a fly on the wall in the Granger household, but knowing the average lifespan of a fly trapped in Ruby's room makes me think it might not be the best idea. 😬

Love how all the Brits (I assume) get super defensive as soon as someone says something negative.
From what my friends told me who did study abroad it seems true that it is ridiculously easy to get good grades in the UK (they did business, English, law and economics).
My partner studied in the US for a while and said the same about an undergrad degree in a College there - as long as you managed the volume (i.e lots of quizzes, test and small pieces of work, with not a lot of analysis expected or required) then you could get good grades much more easily there than in the UK. Conversely, one of my friends at uni was American. They were taking a post-grad degree and they struggled hugely with the UK system because they’d never been expected to provide a lot of analysis. I don’t think you can really compare systems as they’re reflective of so much more than just how a grade is calculated.

Here’s my prediction, I reckon she has got a first, but it’s a low first and because she’s so arrogant and was expecting it to be publishable, she’s mega disappointed and that’s why she hasn’t posted yet. Either way, I don’t think she will tell us the exact mark for it, unless it’s like insanely good.
