It would be quite peck-yool-ya if Ruby has read any of the books she’s now recommending😂 Do we think she’s actually watched beyond season 1 of Stranger things. It must be painful for her to see the kids growing up.
It’d probably be a better video if she showed things the right way round - just saying. ‘Wrongwayround’ is not the same as the Upside Down, Ruby.

btw I still don't understand what exactly getting a first means other than getting a first is very good. The British system is so different from the German. But "first" sounds better than 1 oder very good or 1.0 oder whatever.
Essentially it's a bit like this:
First = A
2:1 = High B
2:2 = Low B
Third = C

That's a simplification ofc and just the way I explain it in my head!

Also, thanks for the BookTube recs y'all 😊

I guess her parents planned the holiday and she just shoe-horned in the Call Me By Your Name thing on her social media, so that's why the destination doesn't exactly fit the theme. They just planned a holiday to the Amalfi Coast and Ruby only heard "Italy" and went straight to Call Me By Your Name because that's the only piece of media set in or about Italy she's ever consumed. She probably didn't notice that it's set in a completely different part of the country lol
Ah I see, I hadn’t realized that! :)

I unironically really like that white dress she's got in her last post.
If you mean the outfit with the school blazer: the dress or skirt looks a lot like this skirt from Armedangels:

You can't see it well in this photo, but it has slits exactly in the same spot as Ruby's skirt and it's the same length. It's called the Katinkaa cream skirt. It's from a previous collection but you can still find it second hand online.

Of COURSE super sustainable ultra ethical vegan queen Rubbadubbdubb eats Weetabix (pretty sure that flavour are not actually vegan because of the origin of some of the additives) and also uses fucking pods for her 'cahffee that I absolyutely LAHV it is tyotally moiy thang'.

Also, I found her whole "JUST START A SMALL BUSINESS" thing absolutely stinky with that middle class white girl privilege she likes to drop in every now and again.
how long until she stops drinking coffee? or did she need a different liquid to fill herself up with?

tiktoker turned book tuber and 'author' who thinks reading Russian classics and being a hedonist makes up for a lack of personality
her hedonism is just drinking wine and eating a cheese board btw she's hardly Dorian Grey
Didn't she post a video with Jack Edwards a few days ago? It keeps popping up in my recommended despite me not following either of them

A Room with a View is also set in Italy lol did she also bring that to Italy with her?
She exclusively chose "Eat, Pray, Love" style books written by foreign authors where foreign characters discover Italy and are smitten by the simple and cheerful nature of the locals
Yes, she was really running with the Italy theme. 😅 I just found it interesting that she gave a lower rating to the 'classic' book and a higher one to the YA books (a genre she supposedly doesn't like).

It's not her work though.

She's openly said that she gets Blakeney to read and summarise critical material for her, share her Notion notes for everything with Ruby, brief her on the reading before seminars and provide her with recap notes after lectures.

She's revealed that she skips the required reading in favour of a Sparknotes summary, and she's shown that she reverse-engineers an essay from the thoughts and opinions of other people, starting with an argument of someone else that she likes and working backward from there. That's not her work. That's other people's work mashed up and reworded into essays about books she never read. The only thing she worked hard at was avoiding doing work of her own.

Good for her if she found a way to cheat the system and get top marks for no original work of her own. But it's not her grade to be proud of.

That's Exeter's criteria for a first. I find it incredibly hard that Ruby showcased "independence of thought and originality" when she's never shown any evidence of that in 7 years of content.

View attachment 1374383

And then the lower end of the scale, which lines up much more with the standard of language and writing we see regularly from Ruby.

Absolutely every piece of writing we've seen from her, from the essay samples to the poetry, from the book which she charges money for to her everyday conversations and professional business copy are riddled with errors on every level and I don't think she's ever offered up an original, coherent thought containing anything resembling intelligence or insight. I find it incredibly hard to believe that she was keeping a stash of exceptional talent in reserve just for her private essays.

You're right though, without seeing her final essay product or knowing what the hell the grading tutors saw, there's no way to tell why there's such a huge disparity between everything we've ever seen from Ruby and the grades she's been getting. They likely don't watch her content, so didn't see her outing herself as relying on every dodgy shortcut possible to avoid doing her own work, or they might've had more questions for her. But it's clear she relied almost entirely on the work of others to get there, she's all but said as much herself. If the criteria for a top mark is independent and original work, then she didn't earn those grades.

I kinda doubt she's going to show her full grade breakdown unfortunately, but I'd fully expect First overall and low grades (or lower than the Firsts that Ruby thought she was entitled to) for her dissertation and creative writing project.
some unis will round up any grades from 69.5% to a first, im not sure if Exeter are the same

She hasn't read the Miss Peregrine books for sure.

Ok, I completely misread that and assumed she was asking if people were interested in reading the book that she herself had just finished reading, not reading the book she’s just finished writing (which she wasn’t going to promote to her social media audience …) Colour me confused.
Tbh she doesn't make it clear in her Instagram story which book she is referring too so I think a few of us were confused by this.

yes and no. I have been a customer for a couple of years.since I saw them at a Vegan fair.. I was attracted by the pumpkin one which tasted much better back then. some are great. some are vile some are tasteless.

One of their big sellers is Blue Raspberry which tastes like metal to me but they do a Peach Cobbler one where you can actually taste the pastry. The Chocolate digestive one is lovely.

They do have a nasty habit of discontinuing my favourite flavours
Agreed. I've pretty much liked every one of their teas I've tried, but you have to be prepared to brew them for at least the time they state, and maybe sometimes longer. Lots of their teas are also improved with different milks or even liquids (their fruity summer ones are amazing cold brewed in lemonade, especially Peach Bellini imo)

Yup... to quote her ranty rant: "EVERYTHING ELSE COMES SECOND (including YouTube, which I cannot and will not rely on for book sales; I just can't let myself do that)"
Thread title: RubME (everything else comes second) Granger

Very off-topic but have seen that Eve Bennett has a boyfriend now and seems to be thriving and do not see it (partly because she seems so much more "normal" and grown up than Ruby) but do you see Ruby putting herself out there or getting a relationship anytime soon?

For all we know, she may be asexual and occasionally I get those vibes, yet I do feel that a relationship or something to get her out of the family bubble would be hugely beneficial for her and her personal growth. She seems too childlike for it to manifest, though.
