The written intention would drive things even more so for sure. There's more room for a viewer to ascribe their own meaning to film scenes running without commentary.
I'm relieved it is not intended as "a cutesy love story". The characters are far apart in age and experience to the point of it potentially being toxic.
Once I've read the book (all of it, not "the final few pages"

I wonder if Ruby is aware that the author has been problematic in the past. It was a big thing on book twitter last year where people found Bridget Collins had been engaging with transphobic tweets. As far as I’m aware she didn’t say anything herself, but it’s still extremely harmful behaviour and so a lot of people ended up putting her on their author blacklist because of it. A shame because I really enjoyed The Binding and was looking forward to reading her newest release at the time but considering how many books there are in this world I’d rather read from authors who aren’t TERFs.her pretentious post about The Binding
Considering Ruby is no stranger to the world of ‘bookish’ social media I’m curious as to whether she’s simply unaware of this, completely forgotten all about it or is just choosing to ignore it. She follows a few bookstagram related hashtags and accounts and I know a lot of people were talking about it at the time. Whilst your average Tom Dick or Harry who reads for fun would probably be unaware of it, I feel like when you have such a large platform and influence then you should be a little mindful of what/who you sing your praises about and now she is (most likely) a FARST CLASS English Literature graduate, it’s not a reach to say that she’s probably used to Google searching authors. Maybe I’m reaching idk, because from what I can remember the book itself wasn’t problematic (as far as I can remember). But to dedicate a glowing post to her book without even acknowledging the controversy, especially when it was spoken about a lot at the time, probably wasn’t the best thing to do

It's clear that university, lockdown and the pandemic has had a really negative effect on her, and has really pushed her into her shell, but she continues to portray this image of being on top of literally everything all the time. That's why I stopped watching her while I was at university. I would have loved if her lockdown content or uni content was about dealing with this stuff, and off days, and self care. But it's not. She's been maintaining this front which, if these threads are to be believed, isn't even real. It's such a shame because if she came clean her content would be so much better.
Sorry people are raving over Susan Hill? The Woman in Black and I'm the King of the Castle Susan Hill? Her books are awful. I didn't know anything about her tweets, I just know I read those two books at school and hated both of them (only texts I studied at school I didn't like actually.) I wish Kingshaw had offed himself in chapter 2 so I didn't have to read the book, it's just two children bickering for 250 pages. Now I remember why I don't take booktube reccomendations.

My graduation is on the 13th and i found out my final grade on monday. Feel like there's no way Ruby hasn't found out hers yet seeing as her graduation is earlier than mine? What's she hiding?

Why is there a "depends on genre" option. Ruby's written the fucking book. She knows what genre it is. Tell people, then they have an idea if they want to read it or not.
How hard is it to just say:

. i think she's going for Erimentha in teen detective version....And no idea why she's being so mysterious. Unless she plans to rewrite the book if most ppl don't like the genre lol.
Anyway we'll definitely read it when you make an adaptation of her book
