Okay this may sound stupid but is she just telling us she’s the brand founder or does she have to declare it if she’s posting content and it’s in shot? I’ve never known her to say that before so I’m confused
Usually people put "AD own brand" but i've never seen someone put brand founder?

Time to start checking the internet histories of all your friends and relatives. Just kidding, don't do that. You don't know what kind of fetishes you'll uncover. You'll never be able to look your grandma in the eye ever again.

Dakota Warren needs a thread! At first I was enjoying her book recs, but she became so egotistical it no longer felt funny/ satirical. Just uncomfortable. Like she genuinely believes she's the hottest thing on Earth. Don't get me started on the mouth close-ups and her new habit of slowly/ "seductively" licking her lips. She also body checks + flashes the camera a lot. Her fans will legit eat the dirt she walks on, it's a bit scary. That being said, she does have good book recs and I go away with a few new things on my TBR (unlike Rubes). Not sure how good her own published work is though.
Just went to look at some of her book recommendations and I've got to say that her book-related vids are more interesting than Ruby's. At least she does actually seem to read what she recommends! Still think she's pretentious though.

So, she went to see an orchestral performance of The Firebird today. Words can't express how desperately I want to gatekeep Stravinsky from her. I swear if she starts using The Rite of Spring in her videos I will sue her for emotional damage.
Here's a hilarious, nightmare-inducing video for fans of The Rite of Spring.

I want to gatekeep my fave pieces from her too! She already ruined Swan Lake- don't let her touch Nutcracker PLEAsE

I'm honestly surprised she's still using Goodreads and hasn't switched over to TheStorygraph yet. She'd get so much more data on her reading she could use for videos besides the whole "i ReAd 200+ BoOkS tHiS yEaR!"

*Someone posts a picture of hand washing*

Person: Hi Ruby, it’s your old friend Penultimate. I’m a 56 year old man living in my parent’s basement in Arizona. I like guns, taxidermy, hard liquor and the all-you-can-eat wings night at Hooters.

Ruby: Congratulations, you’ve won a personalised book recommendation from me, Ruby Granger. From my extensive experience of honestly, actually reading lots of different kinds of novels (honestly) I’m going to recommend the classic Upper Fourth at Malory Towers. It’s so heartbreaking when Darrell has to resign as Head Girl of the form!* You won’t be able to read it in a whole day, like I do, but I’m sure you’ll find it quiscent. Have a productive day!

*thanks Wikipedia!
Somewhat off topic but
I just found out there’s apparently 6 additional Malory tower books and I feel a little traumatised and bewildered. I really hope Ruby doesn’t find out the same information

I recognise my age and how annoyed I’d have been if generations before me said this…and yet

(At least) 1 in 4 people who graduate from Exeter will get a first. That is ridiculous. I don’t believe in 20 years people can have become that much more intelligent or able or whatever. It was a very small minority who got firsts way back when. Where we had to get straight As to get in (pre A*s and numbers!). Something is really off. (Prepared for the hate!).
The percentage is even higher for Durham, UCL and Imperial. What’s your point? These are also top universities, it’s not surprising the students might be more likely to achieve higher results on average

Does anyone else feel like she's been in Italy for ages? Reality is I thinks it been two weeks but it's all she's gone on about and now it feels like its been ages
It’s been ten days, so not even two weeks 😂 It definitely feels a lot longer though!

Is she gonna spend her year traveling with her parents? Why doesn't she travel alone or with friends. I don't get it.

I know this sounds awful but I've had two glasses of wine so let me be but I'm so glad to see that I get the same/sometimes better marks than Ruby and I put in half the hours she does (not a brag btw it just shows you don't need to do so much extra reading and 15 hour study hours to do well)
I half assed the last year of my degree and ended up with a 2;1, she definitely makes herself busy to soothe her anxieties

uncarley, sally thames and EKG are my faves but they don't really read YA
I can’t stand uncarley, she seems to just talk about the same 10 books all the time and every single review of hers is either ‘this book is for mentally ill women’ ‘this book is toxic/unhinged’ or ‘this book is a red flag’ lmfao

making my first ever post on here to say...

eh, i don't know about unhinged. that particular caption seems pretty cogent and like a step in the right direction (that is, if she can actually do what she's saying she'll do)
she intends to keep doing what she's always done, she says. and I believe that.

She hasn't even had the chair for that long, right? Also, about Ruby's income - she's still getting money from renting out her cottage (afaik?) so basically she has more money than 90% of people her age.

Could you imagine her usual hyperspeed narration plus cocaine though? I find it hard to follow her on her normal speeded up talking! 😂
I'm picturing Alvin and the Chipmunks helium voices. 😂

I feel it's important to make the point that the flour was undulating.
Oh no, NOT THE UNDULATING FLOUR!

I've read it, I quite liked it. It's sort of magical realism I guess you could call it?
I might add it to my TBR then. :) Although you scared me for a minute because I thought you were talking about liking Ruby's book!

I know nothing about the publishing industry- what are the chances her book does get published? What reputable publishing house will want this steaming pile of trash under their name? Penguin won't touch this with a ten-foot pole.
I would agree with you, but then I remember that Fifty Shades exists so...any horror is possible.

I don’t pipe up much on here but I felt I needed to add that even on exams, some unis cap their exam marks at 80 (the student needs to get 100% on the exam to get an 80, which in the UK grading system can be taken as an 80/100 and not 80 as a raw mark since 0-100 is the scale used). One of my lecturers told me this about a previous university that they’d worked at. Sorry if this doesn’t make sense!

I heard lots of people say getting an agent is easy, but finding a company to publish your work is hard. And judging by the writing about Erimentha's lesser known twin, there probably is a small chance that she will get a publishing deal. I think it would be a freaking miracle if she does get published.
