to me it just looks like she's rewriting whatever the previous researcher said
Yeah this! It's super weird cause those notes read like the kind of notes I'd take for class or sth - they're essentially just a summary of Stanley's main points. Which is fine if you just want to use them as reading notes, but as notes for a dissertation?? It's just super weird to me cause I don't understand how she plans to use these notes, since they don't seem to contain original insights that relates to Ruby's argument(s). Is she planning to just shove a point-for-point summary of Stanley's theory into her dissertation?

That drawing really is the stuff of nightmares. Makes you wonder what's bouncing around in her head.

Sorry, I just couldn’t resist phrasing it that way 😁 She’s by far the least offensive family member, and she’s clearly much loved and well taken care of, so I don’t really even feel sorry for her. (This is assuming she’s not subjected to Rootabaga’s content.)
I agree that she seems to have a good life, assuming Ruby doesn't cook meals for her.

OFF TOPIC: do i see one of those minimalistic hobonichi planners? 😭 omg i bought the april 2022 one recently but i haven't started using it yet because i looks so clean and cute that i feel the rubygranger in me is telling me not to write on it because it looks too perfect for my handwriting 💀
Just start using it! I write mostly in all caps because my handwriting ruins everything, but honestly, everything looks good in a Hobo with those little tiny squares and everything so neat 😻 If something turns out looking stupid, 1) you can always cover it up with a sticker or washi tape, and 2) tomorrow you get to use a fresh page again! I’ve used Hobonichi since 2016 and every year I find different ways of doing it. I can’t sing its praises enough, it truly is the best planner out there and endlessly customisable 🥰

Do we know when grades for her dissertation are expected back? Or when Exeter shares their degree results - I'm guessing June/July time?
Her graduation is scheduled for July 12th I think, so I imagine sometime in June.

I really doubt she's in therapy now, she's spiraling. I'm pretty sure a decent therapist would've suggested inpatient by now. Also, she handwrites everything so how does that make sense?
I imagine the intensity of handwriting under pressure in an exam is different to casually taking notes. They wouldnt have given her an exemption without a valid medical reason and doctors certification, exemptions arent easy to get and you have to have a genuine disability or condition.
AQA outlines that students must have one of the following to qualify for using a word processor in GCSEs or A levels:
- a learning difficulty which has a substantial and long term adverse effect on their ability to write legibly
- a medical condition
- a physical disability
- a sensory impairment
- illegible handwriting
So unless she got the exemption for illegible handwriting (which i doubt, her handwriting isnt terrible) she must have been diagnosed with something at the time.

Just remembered an old video of ruby's but can't find it but it was from a few years back. It just popped into my head and Ruby has just started her veganism and it was before she went to uni. But the video had her making all of her spreadsheets ect and planning meals and she was trying to get as much nutrition into her meals as she could being a vegan ect. I could remember that a lot a of the comments were telling her not to become too obsessed with her food ect. It just popped into my head when I saw her chocolate egg porridge the other day. It just makes me really sad seeing her in old videos from the start of uni and how frail she has become.

Why is part of her final ever assignment DRAWING for a LITERATURE degree?? She's clearly not particularly talented at it and those drawings look like a 10 minute doodle, hardly a groundbreaking piece of artwork. If only that had been an option for my english course back in the day, instead of having to write about 30k words in the last term.
Ruby would probably call it groundbreaking though; she doesn't seem to be clear on what it means.

He is a weird little doodle, I like him. 😅

Ruby definitely wanted her dissertation to be finished first, and she planned that as an audition piece to attach to her Masters application.

In her mind, she was going to write a Masters or above piece of work at undergrad level, and it was going to wow the admissions people reviewing her application with how she was working far beyond her academic level.

She'd said before that she was expecting her dissertation to be a part of future scholarship and that she was choosing her topic to compliment her Masters subject. She was also blatantly trying to butter up the lecturers on campus most likely to provide good references for her or who would potentially teach her at Masters level if she went to Exeter. She's completely delusional.

Maybe it started to dawn on her while writing this nonsense that she was completely out of her depth and that's why she decided to skip a year. Admissions definitely aren't going to be impressed to see a brainless dolt with no grasp of English apply for an English Masters and hand over a completely incoherent dissertation that reads like 6 unrelated and poorly-written GCSE essays jumbled together to form one thesis.

Masters would definitely be a bad idea, if she even got accepted anywhere. She has no future in academia, and none of the career opportunities opened up by a Masters would be remotely withing the scope of her ability, so it would be a total waste of time and money. She clearly hates education beyond the superficial praise she gets for appearing to be productive and studious.

She'll probably pivot to writing this year instead now that she has an agent, and transplant all her terrible habits, horrible, dishonest study techniques and fabricated timelines onto being an aspiring bestseller who lies about everything instead. Expect lots of "study with me" type vlogs wherein Ruby stares gormlessly at her laptop and then says, "I wryote TAN thousand WARDS in this hour AND THAN I...went for a waahlk AND THAN I...REE-SAARCHED for 6 hours AND THAN I...wryote elavan thousand mwoar wards."
Exactly. We will be treated to a year of "Write With Me" videos with that wretched clock.

Long time lurker here and I couldn't stop wondering what on earth is Roobster's accent? I'm from the States but I've spent some time living in London and I've never ever heard anyone speak like she does.

I don't think she'll fail her degree or get a 3rd overall (and I don't want her to), but I'd be angry if this dissertation gets a first because I don't think she deserves it.

A lot of the kids who are left out or behind their peers on social development scale go on to develop a superiority complex as a coping mechanism. Pretty much any alternative kid in m/hs has a "people at my school are all stupid I don't need them" attitude.
Definitely, but I do think most of these kids grow out of this attitude once they've left school. I'm not going to judge Ruby for any of her young teenager attitudes because, well, 14-year olds can be a nightmare lol, but it's concerning that she's graduating age and still in that headspace.

Also, was that video by Marfa a joke or serious? I honestly can't tell.

Ruby Granger has issues.

The new outfit post on her instagram really helps illustrate just how much more confident she looks in anything resembling a school uniform... She's positively glowing! 😬
Getting 'baby one more time' era Britney vibes which is unfortunate.

From someone who lives above the Arctic Circle: It would be totally unnessesary with a shawl in the bed here now😅

(Long time lurker, finally found the courage to post something. And I apologize for any written mistakes, English is not my first language)
Haha, my mistake! You must be cold sometimes though? 😝 You have great English by the way. Miles better than Ruby's.

Meanwhile, the only relatable thing in that house is the dimmer switch thing on the wall, the expression of which sums up almost everyone's thoughts on Ruby's content and life decisions:
Look, I have a new profile pic.

Yeah I looked at the pictures she posted and I retract my previous judgment. The dress looks good but I hate that lace shawl thing and the tiny kitten heels, not to mention the fucking tailcoat.
I also really want her to do something different with her hair for once. It always looks boring and unkempt.
I hope to god she left the tailcoat at home. Please someone tell me she didn’t bring it.

Yeah like I get that some people are just like that (my boyfriend is a grad student in Mathematics and he always always procrastinates till the last minute to do stuff, I get anxious for his assignments before he does lol)
But I really don't think Ruby is one of those people
I think she secretly is. That’s why she has more than one video about ”how I stopped procrastinating” - because she hasn’t managed to do it.

Ruby is giving Holly a run for her money, she's making vegan food look even more unappetizing
Also, on a side note, those rusty old garden chairs look absolutely horrendous. I can't imagine having a glass of wine and relaxing on these chairs but then in Ruby's world everything has to look as bland, unappealing, rotten and uncomfortable as possible!

The goth community, the emo kids back in the day, the Vampire Freaks kids, all of them live their lives online to find people they can mimic a friendship with as a cope for not being popular irl and they go on to frame it as ~nobody around me shares my uber special interests\I'm too deep that must be why I can't have friends~ .

Oh btw she’s definitely not reading The Brothers Karamazov (don’t you know that’s written by a foreigner?!), she’s reading this book: https://www.panmacmillan.com/authors/marlene-wagmangeller/once-again-to-zelda/9780330536899

It’s a book about interesting literary dedications. I believe it’s one of the many tangents she’s tied into her thesis. (Of course it doesn’t look like she gets anywhere past the first page or so, so it’s probably all for show as usual. She’ll have cribbed the content from somewhere, with someone else’s critical insights.)

Here’s a sample of the type of work she submits. I feel like a graduating English student ought to be able to distinguish between ”cite” and ”quote” and use a simple expression like ”in spite of”/”despite” correctly.

Her most recent IG caption really annoys me lol, there are multiple typos. Especially given that it’s about her #gifted afternoon tea, it’s so unprofessional. Just shows how much she cares about her influencer status . If it were anyone else in any other job or a Uni assignment, we would be double checking our work to ensure it was up to a good standard. I know it sounds picky but it rubs me the wrong way when people have typos in ads.
It annoys me too. They are getting paid to advertise so at least get it right. Its bad enough when you see the illiterate vapid airhead doing it but so called educated people? No excuse.

I'm guessing she turned down Cambodia (if she'd been asked?) because it's too far from home. Lucky Cambodian kids get Jack, Vee and Jade instead, so that should be enough to put them off education for a lifetime. 😝

Just waiting for Ruby or Jade to make a video called "Why I'm glad I was rejected from Oxford!" with every one of your points stolen
