Why eat an actual chocolate egg for once, when you have the opportunity to showcase how very little you eat by just using flavoured fucking water for your half-portion of porridge? Oh and don’t forget beetroot and other weight-loss aids!

You know she's reached a new low when the dead fly in the background is more nutritious a meal than the actual "food" in her bowl.

And to add insult to injury, the tea is gifted, so it's an ad, too. If I were a sponsor and saw Ruby using my product for this dangerously stupid and irresponsible bullshit, she'd be off our mailing list so fast.

Talking of dissertations, this screenshot from @gossip_guy's post clarifies nothing.

It was COMMON for his gifts to function outside of the dialogue of 'ordinary letters'.

I haven't a clue what this means. Maybe I'm being dense, but how did his letters transcend 'ordinary' letter writing and why are his letters still being referred to as 'gifts' rather than, idk, correspondence? I think it's a massive mistake to shoehorn Lewis Carroll's letters (literary subject) into theories of gift-giving (anthropological subject).

In other words, the essay itself still depends on letters being dialogical for the most part.

The point is that Lewis Carroll's letters were mostly 'in dialogue' with others rather than being a private journal? Sooo, his letters were letters and not diaries (because they are diaries)?

But the 'three kinds of letters which are different from dialogical letters' apparently fit into the definition of non-ordinary letters. And then the notes go on to say that Carroll's letters were mostly dialogical. But the first point says that it was common for them to function outside the dialogue of 'ordinary letters'. Which one is it? And why does it matter?

Expectation that people will reply but this doesn't always happen in practise.

Well, duh. Why is this a dissertation?

I don't mean this to come across as anti-intellectual, and don't want to undermine anyone's area/s of research, but this just sounds like pointless waffling jargon to me. 🤷‍♀️ Feeling like a #thicko right now.

to me it just looks like she's rewriting whatever the previous researcher said

I can never quite work out whether Ruby is over- or under-confident or whether she’s a weird mix of both. It’s like the outfit she wore to the premiere.
I think she’s one of those horrendously insecure people who tries to hide it by acting better than everyone else

Not quite sure how Ruby is able to declare if the show is "honestly groundbreaking" or not when she's watched like 3 TV shows in her life and won't have any knowledge or point of comparison.

"A PR rep told me this was JANUINELY SYO SYO GROUNDBREAKING!"
isn't this a YA romance book about a gay couple? reviewes by the same roobs who skips romance books with straight couples and any mention of YA?

ruby’s latest stories talk about putting academic output in to perceptive after spending every waking minute on it for the past four years 🤨 looking for to her not taking that energy into her inevitable masters degree ✌🏻
also, it'd be a little more justified if she'd grown as a student, as a person and as a writer. which she obviously hasn't. so yeah, she's wasted the past maybe seven to eight years if you include GCSEs and A Levels.

aaand she's body checking in IG stories

I stand corrected! But now my confusion extends to the organisers… they do realise that, just because they’re “studytubers”, doesn’t mean they’re still school age?!
None of the events they attend make sense on any level, and it never seems like anyone involved gave any consideration to who the influencers were, if their content/brand suits the product or if their audiences match whatever's being promoted.

I'm guessing it's a numbers game for the PR people. They see a follower count and can go back to the client to say "I got 600,000-1 million eyes on this from each influencer!" when that's not the case and certainly won't translate to people actually checking out the thing being advertised.

Sixteenth don't give a shit what's suitable for their talents' brands, they just want money and more ad deals. And from Ruby, Jack and Jade's perspective, they do not give a shit about brand identity or integrity, and if there's money or a chance to mingle with celebs on offer, they will advertise literally anything without question.

Like, the Downton thing, I guess I could understand if they were hosting a trailer, or attending a screening. It's still not a great fit for any of their brands, aside from possibly maybe kind-of Ruby, who assumes it's a Victorian TV show because she thinks all of history pre-1930 was the Victorian era, but it's a broad enough advertisement that they might get some engagement out of it.

But the event was focused entirely on the costume designer of the show. Like, why the fuck would these three be a suitable fit for that? They aren't history buffs. They aren't fashion vloggers. Fashion victims, maybe.

With her dissertation, why is she trying to find the structure of it now to see if it makes sense? If she is doing it then she is floundering around so much especially if it's days before it's due. And it is just time wasting activities that she is doing such as writing it down when she could typing etc. I wish that I had enough time to do boing stuff like this when I had deadlines, I've got one on Tuseday and I'm working and doing a job. The days before this dissertation is due , it should be minor editing and making sure everything is referenced correctly. I can understand more floundering if it was a class essay as there is usually other assignments and less time to work on it, but she had a year for this!

I'd honestly love to read it. I work as a writing tutor for uni students so it is 100% a selfish interest. I can't judge the whole obviously but it seems so scattered. And willfully obtuse, as well, like she wants it to be hard to understand. This is classic budding academic writer stuff. Digressions, convoluted sentences, additional research and citations that only muddy the water instead of making your point clearer. I've seen lots of students fall into a trap where they skip out on explaining how they got from point A to B and assume the prof can read their mind. Feeling torn up about having to cut stuff is also a part of that budding academic writer stage. You tend to think everything is valuable, interesting, or relevant.

I've done all my schooling in Canada so idk how these dissertations are handled but my uni has an online database where any grad/postgrad student can submit their thesis or dissertation for anyone to read.

That coffee post has got to be an ad, I swear Ruby has talked about not drinking caffeine before so only money would get her to go back on that. Also didn't she eat a coffee bean in a really deranged way in a vlog not so long ago?

i feel she's going insane with her dissertation deadline
Screenshot_20220428-190131_YouTube.jpg

People have commented on her latest video asking about her hair, or pointing out that she should take better care of it.

I think her intentionally showing her hair looking like a mess today and making a point to mention it is to divert attention from her receding hairline and generally fucked-up wig. If anyone mentions it now, she'll say, "It just looks like that because I was tyoo busy to wash and brush it haha 🙈 💛"

Better to look like a lazy slob than to look like a malnourished clown, evidently. Of course, if she cut it short, it'd look a lot healthier, but she won't do that because she likes reusing old footage too much.

I'm sure the Oxford photo is also a transparent trick: she's intentionally trying to tease a future at Oxford to give the impression that she's got big opportunities and success on the horizon, when there's no chance she'll get in at this point, and she'd be daft to apply given how thin-skinned she is about rejection.

Yeah there’s no way she went from the absolute shitshow of yesterday’s video to magically being finished in today’s video. At the very least she’s omitted a few days, I doubt very much she would’ve kept mum on insta if she had in fact finished her diss last week 😂

My educated* guess is that she called it done as soon as she’d managed to get the word count down to what it was supposed to be.

*education in this case = having spent an inordinate amount of time watching Roobee videos

oh look

lol the bar just gets lower and lower for her content, doesn’t it 😂 I’m not going to watch 30 minutes of Roobster squinting in direct sunlight while someone mows the lawn and listens to music in the background.

(Grabs the popcorn.)

Ahh, we're at the 3 month interval where Ruby reminds of her supposed favourite "AMMILY Dickinson" poem, which is an ode to selflessness and considering and prioritising other people's feelings. Meanwhile, Ruby insists on posting triggering content to knowingly do damage to her audience when she's been asked not to so many times. Make it make sense, Ruby.

I was going to comment something about ”one syllable or less” but then I remembered she managed to butcher ”scourge” as well. We need to set the bar really low.
... and quay (she wrote 'key').

Imagine spending thousands of pounds on a private school and your child still can't spell. Fair enough if their strengths lie in other subjects, or they're dyslexic, but out of all subjects, Ruby is studying ENGLISH.

It’s probably not performative. I am making assumptions here but I think she’s uncomfortable around the idea of dating and romance. I also went to a girls school like Ruby and if you’re not sociable outside of school it can lead to you growing up unable to relate to or befriend men, perhaps even a little threatened by them. (Not saying Ruby’s attracted to men though, she could not be!) Romance novels about women or straight relationships might make Ruby uncomfortable and make her question her own feelings and aware of her own inexperience.

As she’s not a man, gay romance novels are unrelatable to her life, it’s basically like a fantasy. She can allow herself to talk about it without any of these expectations or attracting any questions about her own love life. Gay romance is really popular among a lot of teenage girls for this reason.
I completely agree, but I do think the way that Ruby makes an exception for gay male (correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think she's ever discussed reading sapphic books) plays into an othering of gay men. Maybe it's a fantasy for her, but gay men are....real people, with a long history of persecution and not a tool to make Ruby (or anyone else) more comfortable with their own feelings or lack of around romance.

I understand, and I'm by no means trying to say "women shouldn't engage with mlm relationships/stories" but if that is the way she engages with them (which is what I was suspecting, but couldn't word as eloquently) then she's coming at it from a very privileged and fetishising position.
