I think perhaps the astrophysics comment is yet another example of how Ruby misinterprets words. Like how she claims to be on the verge of obsessed with dark academia when really she's seen a couple of light academia photos on pinterest that looked vaguely nice to her. She's the first to jump on any obsession that'll make her look mysterious and there are so many books she will have read where the main character is fascinated by the stars and sky and space, and she'll adopt those characters' personalities because she can't work out her own.
Yet again, I'm questioning whether she could have Autism (ASD). Her inability to empathise and judge a social situation by her own feelings, and even those of others, jumping from interest to interest and obsessively researching each one (rather than enjoying it or admiring it from afar), her lack of age-appropriate interests, friends etc all align with aspects of ASD. I completely understand that people can have those aspects but not have ASD (I work in an area specialising in young people with additional needs), but Ruby has shown and continues to show these signs. It could also explain how she has created such an odd character for herself and revolves her entire life around the character's feelings and interests.
