Her "what christmas means to me (slow living gratitude)" video is completely insufferable, peak rich white girl content.

"We can switch off from busyness and trial ... We can leave to-do list boxes unchecked, this is a chance for us to revaluate and appreciate the little things"... are you being serious??? I have so many things me and my family are worrying about at the moment (monetary, illness), I can't just switch off and play with some leaves 😭😭😭

This! No matter how much she gushes about Christmas, it doesn't take away from the fact that there are a lot of scary things going on right now in the world, and, as nice as it would be to be able to do so, you can't just switch off your concerns and anxieties. Christmas can get so expensive, millions of people have been told last minute that they'll be spending Christmas without their loved ones, and so many people have to still go to work this week. It's all well and good her saying that this year has been difficult for people but I truly don't think she knows what Christmas is going to be like this year for a lot of people.

The Christmas Carol video was also very odd? It might just be me being pedantic but it came across as her romanticising this book about a pretty cruel person? I know Scrooge redeems himself at the end but it didn't really match up with the tone of the novel at all? It just seemed like an excuse for her to dress up and twirl around.

I get what she was going for but ... yeah, maybe you should have held back this year Ruby.

I feel like her poetic-sounding monologues are full of empty sentiments and unrelatable romanticism.

These are obviously the words of someone who has never had to work on Christmas Eve/Christmas Day etc. She might be glad to switch off for the season, but the underlying issues people have don't just up and leave for Christmas Day. Many more people than usual will be facing trials this year, and to ask people to 'just be happy' is so out-of-touch, and almost says "everyone should be happy to make ME feel good".

Oh Ruby. As a grown-up currently trying to hold onto my job in spite of my company undergoing massive changes, I can assure you not a single thing on my ”before year end” to-do list is going to go unchecked, Christmas or no Christmas. Doesn’t mean I’m stressed or unhappy, doesn’t mean I can’t appreciate the little things, but tit has to get done when you’re an adult. It’s called... adulting. Try it sometime.

"...Christmas is something you feel, palpably with all your senses..."

If it's palpable it's felt with a sense of touch only lol.
Not to be pedantic, but you'd expect a bit more than such nonsense from an English major.

Skimming throught the rest of her out of touch essay on Christmas- it kinda shows why she's stuck in 10 year old behaviour and looks. Who would want to grow up from that and go into the real world

That whole video reeks of Jade's ✨ casual magic✨ kinda vibe and I hate it

It's a cute idea, just....not right now Ruby. Read the room.
The footage she's included of her entire family around the christmas table should not have made the cut, not right now. Now is not the year to show off these types of things, so many people are spending christmas alone, so many people have lost loved ones this year.

She's creepy too, when I remember that she's a 20 year old woman in her third year at uni - the clips of her prancing around, spinning giddily in her pjs or dressing gown in the garden, climbing over the fence instead of going through the gate is just...well, weird.

I desperately want to leave a comment saying I know she means well but that this just feels a little tone deaf right now, but I just know her 12 year old fans who can't see the problems with her content will just pillory me...

Wonder why she changed the title of the video?
I don't know, but impressively she's actually made it worse! "watch this if you're not feeling christmassy yet" - there are a lot of people out there not feeling christmassy rn who aren't going to feel more christmassy watching some privileged rich girl with her big house, surrounded by family. I mean Jesus Christ how can you be this oblivious?

Yikes, that title is so much worse. Why change it...?

I left her a “this is tone deaf” comment for you 👍🏼

Tell me if you think I’m wrong in thinking this, but to me it looked like she was body checking at certain points in that outfit video :/
i’ve been following this thread for ages but this is literally what has pushed me to posting, i’m currently recovering from anorexia and got insanely triggered in her tea outfits video because she definitely looked like she was bodychecking. pulling at the elastic of her skirt in the first outfit is not showing off her look, it’s just super concerning :// i know how hard the holiday period is for sufferers and i truly hope she’s doing okay, but those little details worry me.

Yes! In particular the pulling of the elastic and the way she kept turning to the side whilst looking into the mirror just really looked like body checks to me, rather than actually showing off the actual outfits. I find it very worrying. I hope you’re okay too

For someone not in the know, what else could constitute as bodychecking? Sorry if that question triggers anyone.

I’ve put it in a spoiler just in case🧡

It’s different for everyone, but for most ‘normal’ people, you’d maybe glance in the mirror and double check your outfit, but body checking is extreme. I could spend literally hours looking at my body from different angles, maybe focusing in on one area. It’s usually positioning your body in different positions to double check how ‘large’ you look from a certain angle

This sort of thing
Theres a lot of things, but off the top of my head a big thing is checking measurements of your body eg waist, wrists, legs or other specific areas with your hands / with a measuring tape, but also comparing your body to how it was in the past from videos or photos, wearing old clothes from your childhood when you were a lot younger and smaller etc
Those are just a few I can think of but theres a lot more, depends on the person
