One of the worst things Ruby ever did was share about her buying a cottage. For the average student, and even above average person that age, they are usually financially struggling, have loans and can't even afford a car, let alone a house. Nor do they want the responsibility of one. Even if I had had the funds back then, there is no way I would have bothered with the concern of home ownership and all that it entails. I just wanted to enjoy college life and my last years of being a student before being thrust out into the real world. I knew there would be plenty of time to worry about fully adulting. I was not ready nor interested in such responsibilities at the time. No normal young adult would be. For her younger audience it was much like a game....another "let's pretend" from Ruby. Let's pretend to be home owners and decorate and imagine being alone, etc.. Hence the backlash it received and would continue to receive if she ever brought it back up.
I find it all in poor taste considering since then we have seen her run out of her parent's home like a scared chicken because she heard a noise and keeping her phone with her when walking around the backyard so her father could keep tabs on her location. Over and over again we have seen her play, play dress up, play roles, pretend, act like an idiot. Still nothing about that driver's license. Not working. Ran home quickly before quarantine was even in place. Doesn't socialize with people, has a very small amount of "friends", most which seem to be just trying to promote themselves and their channels through each other. None of it feels valid to me. Her being alone in a home, even if it were on her parent's property, wouldn't go off well! She isn't ready for anything in the real world....she may never be. It is pathetic.
And yes, the money. I am sure her parents co-signed to ensure mortgage payments. It is now probably sold or being rented off all the time. But why bother to glue yourself to a specific area when she doesn't even know when she is moving out or what she plans to do for a job and where that job will be located! She will be living under her parent's roof forever. The plain and simple fact that financially she is in a very different situation than her viewers just disconnected her even more from them. I don't believe she is spending any time there. Nor do I believe she could handle it on a regular basis....probably not even overnight. She is too afraid of the monsters she had "pretended up" under her bed!
