First time poster, long time lurker 😉 found a (possibly dodgy) link to the video where Ruby says she has bought a house:
One, thank you for this, I've been so curious about this video

"I don't like the idea that I will never will be living at home again"
As someone close to Ruby's age this baffles me. I feel once you move out, unless you have an absolutely terrible time as long as you have a good relationship with your parents you would want to go and visit but not move back home, anxiety or not. I suffer from extreme anxiety, have been back to my parents house and was stuck there for a while due to the pandemic, and as nice as they are there's no way I'd move back in unless I absolutely needed to.
I know the fear of being alone is very real, but to me running to your parents really isn't helpful.

You’ve summed it up brilliantly. This struck me as odd too and I’m in my mid 20s and haven’t moved out of my parents home yet so for me to find this odd says something 😂 for clarity I went to a university I could commute to, and my parents couldn’t afford for me to move out at that point, I did uni for 4 years and was applying for London based jobs when the pandemic hit one year of job hunting and one year of working from home and now I’m here nearly 25 and have never moved out of my one and only childhood home. But, even though my London office is not requesting we be back any time soon in the slightest, I’m currently in the process of moving to a flat on london alone because, as emotional as I’ll be, I know that it’s going to happen eventually and when I’m not emotional to leave I’m excited and I have good transport so should anything happen to my family (god forbid) I can get back if needed. That’s my thought process, if I was going to extend staying at home it would have been to save more money so maybe I could have gone into buying rather than renting first but I know that’s a slippy slope and if this place works out then I’m going to take the leap - rip the band aid off so to speak 🤷🏼‍♀️

Thank you! I have to admit I have a bad habit of replying to this thread drunk so I worry what I say makes no sense (I often see my posts later and look at the mistakes, which annoy me greatly) , so I'm glad what I say people agree with. I totally agree that as much as I was emotional about moving out, it needs to happen, but after a very short while you get used to it anxiety or not if you just force yourself into it. If I had stayed home I honesty would had made my anxiety worse and I would of lessened my chances, same of how I feel for Ruby as she gets older.

Absolutely, Ruby would only benefit from cutting the cord and getting some exposure therapy by living alone instead of rushing back home at every minor opportunity to be mollycoddled by her parents. She's gotten worse since this video, and it'll only get worse from here. Even then she was practically talking herself out of the idea of leaving home even after already being locked into a mortgage.

Since then, she's ditched uni under the cloak of 'ronaphobia (despite proving time and time again that she never really had any anxiety about Covid, and she'd happily lick a sewer grate if a sponsor offered her money), bought a child's bed, filled her wardrobe with a child's clothes, wrecked her health trying to physically transform her body into that of a child and become more sheltered and deluded than ever.

She's longing for the days when she was told by her parents and the teachers she sucked up to that she was special and gifted, before she dipped her toe into adulthood and realised she was just a small, dull fish in a massive ocean full of more diverse, brighter and interesting creatures. She's not particularly intelligent, or smart about her academic habits, her YouTube fame was founded on lucking into the studytube fad and having a vaguely unique angle (Hermione cosplay) to deliver on that rather than any real creative talent or ability (as evidenced by the fact that her content hasn't changed or improved on any level in 6 years). She's quickly experiencing the result of diminishing returns.

That's only going to get harder as her views decline, her health fails, she fades into irrelevance, and academia (if she makes it onto a Masters course) gets harder for her to brute force her way through with endless busywork and monopolising her teachers' time.

If she'd stuck it out living at uni and continued with therapy, she might be in a better position to deal with the major changes she's going to have to handle after uni ends. As it stands, the combination of graduation and YouTube irrelevance is going to hit her like a speeding train, and she'll have no emotional tools to deal with it besides running to mummy and daddy and throwing endless tantrums that life isn't giving her what she thinks she's entitled to.

Sorry but I'm a bit emotional at the moment, so you guys can correct me, but be aware I am speaking out via emotions.
Where I grew up It was a constantly made fun of suburb, where we were all called bogans, laughed at so forth.I remember being absolutely embarrassed to say where I lived for YEARS. The houses were cheap (hence why my parents could afford my house)

Now I cannot even afford a house there because landlords and people like Ruby and her parents thinking. I know she didn't personally do this to me (she doesn't even live in my country, Australia) but I feel like saying duck you, duck you duck you. This isn't even emotion at Ruby, it's emotion at everyone who felt "investing in property you won't even live in for a few years" is a moral, ethical thing to do. duck you.

Sorry for being emotional, but that video honestly tipped me.

holy bleeping tit it actually happened
also I love her saying that she hasn't been lent any money for it and that she paid for it with YouTube money
like the fact that her parents are well off didn't have anything to do with her having the time and resources to make dodgy videos on youtube

hey a fellow aussie!!!!! the australian housing market is absolutely stuffed. my parents bought our house in 1999, the price is now 8x (last time we got in valued about 2 years ago) the original price....

on the topic of moving out in your 20s, i don't think i know anyone my age (24) who doesn't want to move out? i moved out the start of this year and god it was so scary but the experience and independence you gain is amazing! becoming an adult and doing adult things is and can be really daunting but it is just a part of life, you will have to get on with it one day!!! yeah you still struggle, cry, get confused and overwhelmed etc but it will be ok! (yes, this is very simplified and every situation is different but i know you guys understand me lol)

I’m pretty sure the ”I did it all by myself” is lies. She keeps mentioning how the process of getting a mortgage took so long ”because I’m so young” (lol she likes to repeat that). There’s zero chance Daddy Bones didn’t co-sign. So yes, she may have paid the deposit from her savings (probably partly from funds her parents have been setting aside for her since birth) and she may be getting the mortgage payment covered from the exorbitant rent she’s charging (here’s hoping it stays vacant for a while lol, I just want nothing good for her rn), but no actual bank would give out a mortgage to an eighteen-year-old iNfLuEnCer where the monthly payment would be a significant percentage of their monthly income without some guarantee.

I live in a city in the UK which is overrun with Airbnbs and it is so infuriating knowing I'll have to move out of my area when I eventually save enough for a deposit becuase so many properties are bought up to be short term lets. The thing is renting doesn't have to be a terrible thing! (See how 60% of Vienna rent from social homes: https://www.newstatesman.com/spotli...basic-human-right-vienna-model-social-housing) but private renting and holiday lets can quickly turn things sour

Her grades confuse me so much. The way she comes across in her videos sounds like lack of intelligence or ignorance rather than lack of effort. Yet she always gets good grades. I don't even know anymore
I’m happy to comment on this because I go to Exeter also!

Compared to other unis they mark harshly imo but so do most Russell Groups.

She has easy assessments, from what I watched on her grades videos she had a lot of graded participation, quizzes, presentations etc. Didn’t she have to dress up for one of them ?

I think she does a lot for the grades she gets, I would’ve expected higher grades from her considering she’s constantly reading and I presume she does all he readings. I easily get a 70 on a last minute essay I do overnight without really dwelling on it because I tend to work smart and I know the mark schemes well. A 75 for participation is relatively easy to get too, I got a 76 average for online quizzes I did every week last term without reading the material extensively. I don’t work nearly as much as she does I just know what’s expected of me.

Ayeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee, honestly I know the feel about the housing, again I don't blame it on Ruby, but the general thinking. There's a certain word starting with Cun.... towards these landlord/ landlord type people that Aussies use in different situations and Americans seem to be horrified of that I I honestly want to say over and over and over again.

£1600 for a 1 bed in a rural area is insane. I pay that for a 2 bed house with a garden IN LONDON.

Totally this. Myself and my partner are fully-grown adults, I work full-time in a fairly responsible job (if you can believe that lol) but because my partner is self-employed in the creative industries the hoops we had to jump through to get a mortgage were pretty significant. I really don’t believe that Ruby holds the mortgage on her cottage alone and I’m sceptical that she was able to buy it by putting down the minimum deposit. For a start, it’s really difficult for a first-time buyer to be able to buy a house to let out, because the banks like you to already own a property so that you have something behind you if it all goes bits-up - and if she has a BTL mortgage then the ‘minimum deposit’ was probably quite a bit higher than it would have been for a residential mortgage. Given that her dad works in finance I’m sure he knows all the loopholes (or knows someone who knows …) that would have allowed Ruby to be a landlord at 19 given that her main income is from YouTube, but there is no way that she has done this ‘alone’.

But because her audience is made up of young teens who are not aware of any of this she was able to lie to their faces to make herself look better, like she always does :)

Is Ruby fooling us all with her weight? I've noticed several times that she doesn't look that thin in other people's pictures.... I am confused.

I guess we’re not getting a new video this week seeing as she’s on holiday from her endless leisure. I mean I know she’s not the most regular uploader to begin with, but I’ve been spoiled by other youtubers who film in advance if they’re going to be taking time off. You know, people who plan ahead. Roobee probably made a Notion page to plan her filming and upload schedule, and then she just never looked at it again.

"It's in a nice safe area" aka 5 minutes driving distance from her family home. Like not even the next town over. If Ruby "lived" there, would she actually live there? I can just imagine her mum picking her up in the evenings so she could sleep at home...
