OK I have actually found the house online based on the clip of her standing in the kitchen in this video 😂 Obviously won't post a link or the address, but it's pretty easy to find if you Google "1 bedroom cottage Buckinghamshire", scroll down to about the 6th website on the results page (has an icon kind of like a red circle), it's currently advertised to rent for £1600 per month. You can easily identify the kitchen in the pictures 🙊 (delete if not appropriate)
That place is in the middle of nowhere ... I can't see Ruby living there without a license and a car. (I live in the middle of nowhere too and I love my car!!)

One of the worst things Ruby ever did was share about her buying a cottage. For the average student, and even above average person that age, they are usually financially struggling, have loans and can't even afford a car, let alone a house. Nor do they want the responsibility of one. Even if I had had the funds back then, there is no way I would have bothered with the concern of home ownership and all that it entails. I just wanted to enjoy college life and my last years of being a student before being thrust out into the real world. I knew there would be plenty of time to worry about fully adulting. I was not ready nor interested in such responsibilities at the time. No normal young adult would be. For her younger audience it was much like a game....another "let's pretend" from Ruby. Let's pretend to be home owners and decorate and imagine being alone, etc.. Hence the backlash it received and would continue to receive if she ever brought it back up.

I find it all in poor taste considering since then we have seen her run out of her parent's home like a scared chicken because she heard a noise and keeping her phone with her when walking around the backyard so her father could keep tabs on her location. Over and over again we have seen her play, play dress up, play roles, pretend, act like an idiot. Still nothing about that driver's license. Not working. Ran home quickly before quarantine was even in place. Doesn't socialize with people, has a very small amount of "friends", most which seem to be just trying to promote themselves and their channels through each other. None of it feels valid to me. Her being alone in a home, even if it were on her parent's property, wouldn't go off well! She isn't ready for anything in the real world....she may never be. It is pathetic.

And yes, the money. I am sure her parents co-signed to ensure mortgage payments. It is now probably sold or being rented off all the time. But why bother to glue yourself to a specific area when she doesn't even know when she is moving out or what she plans to do for a job and where that job will be located! She will be living under her parent's roof forever. The plain and simple fact that financially she is in a very different situation than her viewers just disconnected her even more from them. I don't believe she is spending any time there. Nor do I believe she could handle it on a regular basis....probably not even overnight. She is too afraid of the monsters she had "pretended up" under her bed!

£1600 per month for a 1 bedroom cottage? Blimey! Is that typical for the area? In my area, £600 is more like it!
Jesus that’s so cheap to me!! I’m looking for a place rn here in the Netherlands and €1600 is average for a one bedroom apartment. €600 is like a 20m2 studio!!

As annoying as she came across in that video, she did actually sound more intelligent and mature than she does now.
She was probably eating a decent amount back then. Undernourishment is absolute hell on cognitive function, coherent speech, vocab size, all that jazz (as I'm sure those of us with EDs can attest to). She's definitely backslid in other ways too, but I'd guess that eating relates to a significant part of the decline.

I’m happy to comment on this because I go to Exeter also!

Compared to other unis they mark harshly imo but so do most Russell Groups.

She has easy assessments, from what I watched on her grades videos she had a lot of graded participation, quizzes, presentations etc. Didn’t she have to dress up for one of them ?

I think she does a lot for the grades she gets, I would’ve expected higher grades from her considering she’s constantly reading and I presume she does all he readings. I easily get a 70 on a last minute essay I do overnight without really dwelling on it because I tend to work smart and I know the mark schemes well. A 75 for participation is relatively easy to get too, I got a 76 average for online quizzes I did every week last term without reading the material extensively. I don’t work nearly as much as she does I just know what’s expected of me.
I’m not sure what course you’re doing, but as an Exeter English lit graduate I can honestly say that I know very few people (if any) who “easily got 70 on a last minute essay.” With a degree like English, I also wouldn’t say that knowing a mark scheme can help you get a first. At A Level maybe, but a first at degree level require a level of research and structure that you can’t just game - at least not in my opinion.

Throughout a 3 year degree, I had ONE quiz, and can also count on one hand the number of modules that had a (10%) seminar participation mark. The rest were essays and exams! I graduated 2 years ago, so can’t see this has changed that much.

I am just saying this as a personal opinion and people are completely free to disagree with me! But I worked SO hard on my degree, which included a 2 year break from study due to mental health difficulties (in part catalysed by academic pressure and feeling like a “failure” for any mark below 70).

I graduated with a 2:1 and, looking back, know I worked so hard to get that. The 70 for my dissertation felt like summiting Everest, in light of everything I went though. I just feel uncomfortable with some of the talk in recent threads, which seems to project the narrative that a good Exeter degree is somehow soft/lacking credibility.

Sorry but I'm a bit emotional at the moment, so you guys can correct me, but be aware I am speaking out via emotions.
Where I grew up It was a constantly made fun of suburb, where we were all called bogans, laughed at so forth.I remember being absolutely embarrassed to say where I lived for YEARS. The houses were cheap (hence why my parents could afford my house)

Now I cannot even afford a house there because landlords and people like Ruby and her parents thinking. I know she didn't personally do this to me (she doesn't even live in my country, Australia) but I feel like saying duck you, duck you duck you. This isn't even emotion at Ruby, it's emotion at everyone who felt "investing in property you won't even live in for a few years" is a moral, ethical thing to do. duck you.

Sorry for being emotional, but that video honestly tipped me.
Your emotions are 100% valid, gentrification is a very real issue and it's getting worse all the time. I had the same experience of growing up in a "bad" area which now I can't afford to live in, houses have become air bnbs and the old family-run businesses have been turned into Starbucks. The people who live there now are the same ones who used to look down on that town and its residents.

Ruby pretends to be a sweet little girl who admires slow living and the old ways of life but she's a rich tory kid at heart. She genuinely doesn't realize that most uni students can't purchase a house that they won't even live in. She can pretend to be hard-working and wholesome while benefiting from Daddy's tax dodging.

Part of me wants Ruby to make a video addressing her privilege and how it has affected her life, how it has allowed her to be so """productive""" and go about her life the way she has, and acknowledge that it won't be the same for most of her viewers. But we all know it would be a disaster, with no research, mispronounced words and probably include a sponsorship to do with low income families for which she would keep all the profits. And she'd spend half the video talking about working class Victorians and how they were so, so inspirational and aesthetic. And then she'd try to convince us that she has money because she's so hard-working, you too could afford a cottage if you spent 7 hours a day writing aesthetic notes!

I think it really depends on the area you live in. I live in a 1 bedroom apartment that's 50m2 with roof terrace in the Netherlands and my rent is € 870. But have to agree with you that so many apartments are really small and super overpriced!

I was in the shower and, because Ruby Granger lives rent free in my mind (lol) I started thinking about the baffling lack of compassion and the selfishness that she shows.
I've been "following" her for years at this point (I'm not subscribed to her channel anymore but I keep an eye on her). Correct me if I'm wrong, but has she ever raised money for a cause? Donated money? Shared a GoFundMe page her fans could donate their pocket money to? Donated her possessions?
Granted, she may have done charity in private and not talked about it on her channel, but I doubt it. This is someone who expects praise because she held the door open for someone. And even if she did, considering the massive following she has, it would literally be detrimental to a cause if she just donated and not shared it on social media.
The past couple years have unfortunately been full of disasters. Everyone else I follow has done something about at least one of them. Either organised a fundraiser themselves or donated to an existing one and urged their followers to do the same. Ruby is out there buying houses with her revenue from Youtube, her family lives in a literal mansion, her father drives an Aston Martin, and she won't even donate her old clothes. So much for being "an ambassador for kindness" and "aligned to the values of Christianity". I guess she skipped the lecture about giving everything you have to the poor.

No, no, no, no and no. Her version of charity work is writing stupid notes and leaving them library books which she then returns for someone to find. It is honestly a bit embarrassing tbh.

Excuse me she founded multiple Holocaust memorials for underfunded schools duhh. The fact there's no trace of them doesn't mean she didn't do it - she's such a busy bee after all. Poor Roobee.
Also she's selling her old gifted clothes on depop not for the full price! 😇

I've seen a few stories in papers recently where people born and raised in villages in idyllic areas like Cornwall are priced out of their village by people buying second homes or landlords buying multiple properties. ☹ People like Ruby. Instead these villagers either have to inherit a home in their area or pay astronomical rent, or buy a house at inflated price just to stay where they have always lived, where their friends are, etc. It's disgusting.

Ruby really needs to learn how privileged she is because she really doesn't relate to 99% of her audience.
Okay this is a couple of pages back now but I am in this EXACT position and my parents live about 8 miles away from RoOoObee's CoTtAgE. I would never be able to afford to rent in my home village, let alone buy. My mum was born and raised there, my grandad was born and raised there, his family was born and raised there etc etc. Yet my brother and I are totally priced out. For context, a bleeping 4-room (not 4-bedroom, 4 room) old people's bungalow thing (literally tiny kitchen, tiny living room, tiny bedroom, tiny bathroom) a street over from my parents recently sold for £500,000. Half a bleeping million for FOUR ROOMS. And it is directly people like Reuben Sandwich and her bleeping filthy rich Tory parents who are the cause. My tiny little traditional Bucks village (where the older people still speak in the Buckinghamshire accent) is being gentrified to duck because it's a 'commuter' hub, or because people want houses on their property portfolio that they can rent for extortionate prices.

It really is, because it's such a beautiful village, in such a great part of the county, and I loved growing up there. But it's rotten to the core, most of the children that go to the village school don't even live in the village (or they have parents rich enough to move into catchment, then move back out once they're older/their place at the school is secured).

In a few years, Ruby will make an announcement to reveal that the real Holocaust memorial was the friends we made along the way.

1:35 is possibly one of the worst takes I've heard, most of the worlds conflicts and prejudice is because of bullying? no girl it's because of years and years of systemic oppression, being picked on when you're 13 is in no way comparable to prejudice

And she wasn't even bullied. By all accounts, her "bullying" amounted to people just not wanting to be friends with her in school and maybe making passive-aggressive comments to her because she was a judgemental, conceited little buzzkill who actively made her fellow students' days worse by encouraging and reminding teachers to assign homework to everyone. Her "bullying" was so intense that, according to her, she forgot/didn't realise that she'd been "bullied" until years later.

Then she acts like she's a brave survivor - a voice for the downtrodden - and compares her experience to that of concentration camp survivors. It's like her having a dream where she stubbed her toe, then going to a cancer ward to tell a bunch of terminally ill children that she knows exactly how they feel as a result. She's a delusional lunatic.

i got bullied when i was younger (around middle school age), but i didn't realise it was bullying. because i'm autistic i thought the boys making fun of me were actually my friends. rather than realising they were laughing at my interests, i thought they really did care about about the video games i was into. i thought that kids yelling at me across the classroom and boys harassing me in the hallways and people making fun of pictures i took with my friends on instagram "happened to everyone." and i didn't find out until later that the girl who used to screenshot all my snapchat stories/forward them to other people was actually sending my selfies into a class groupchat to laugh at me.

bullying isn't always incredibly obvious, and it's not always beating someone up or calling them nasty names. for me, it would have been fairly hard to report a lot of the bullying i went through. rather than being made up of specific events, it was just a series of continuous actions taken by my classmates to make me feel excluded, lonely and weird. it's ignorant for ruby to compare her experiences to horrific events, of course. but to say that everyone must know when they're being bullied or else it didn't really happen fails to recognise how bullying and abuse can feel on the receiving end.

It's one of the things that frustrates me the most about her 'anti-bullying' stances - anyone who's been actually, genuinely bullied in school is pretty unlikely to be able to relate to her. I don't doubt that she had a hard time making friends, but I can't imagine any actual victim of bullying talking about how grateful they are because it made them into the person they are now.

In the video, she describes bullying as the 'absence of kindness' (while saying that bullying makes you appreciate kindness more) - it says a lot about what she went through imo. Reading Erimenthol Pseudonym just made me even more certain that her version of events at school would be wildly different to what her peers would say about her. Maybe she had a hard time with not being included or not making friends - but it doesn't give her the right to act like a voice of authority on bullying.

She also said that bullying made her into the person she is now because it gave her 'empathy' for people in the same situation. Again, I'm preaching to the choir, but surely it's possible to be empathetic and kind and generous towards people who are bullied without having been through it yourself. Just shows that she doesn't relate to people unless she's actually been through what they're struggling with.

I'll keep this vague, but this video made me so bleeping frustrated because my little sibling has been getting beaten up by a couple of their classmates - it's just awful, and school doesn't feel safe for them. I'm sure they would absolutely love for the worst of their experiences to be passive-aggression or being left out. Kids who are getting bullied - really, properly bullied - don't need to be told this absolute bull about the positive side or the good ways in which it changes you.

It's unbelievable she actually even said this to me but she did! Wow. This is probably one of the most tone deaf things she's ever said, and that's coming from Ruby. Her view of the world is so unbelievably black and white. She is like a sheltered 12 year old, and I know a sheltered 12 year old family member that would likely have better takes than her.

I also find her fixation on bullying bizarre. So she was excluded, maybe teased a bit in primary school? Who hasn't been? Considering how much of a pet and tattle she likely was, this was inevitable. FFS Ruby.
