Wtf how did she not like Famous Five, that was my favourite series as a kid!! I grew up thinking that smuggling was going to be a far bigger issue than it actually turned out to be due to reading them 😂 I like the food suggestion, but then Ruby always claims to love a picnic. My money’s on it not being school based. Kids in the summer holidays…having fun? Playing? Going on *gasp* adventures? They should be locked in their bedrooms hunched over a desk giving themselves eye strain. I mean all those day trips to Kirrin Island - so unproductive! And not a single mention of their grades in the whole series.

First time poster, long time lurker 😉 found a (possibly dodgy) link to the video where Ruby says she has bought a house:
One, thank you for this, I've been so curious about this video

"I don't like the idea that I will never will be living at home again"
As someone close to Ruby's age this baffles me. I feel once you move out, unless you have an absolutely terrible time as long as you have a good relationship with your parents you would want to go and visit but not move back home, anxiety or not. I suffer from extreme anxiety, have been back to my parents house and was stuck there for a while due to the pandemic, and as nice as they are there's no way I'd move back in unless I absolutely needed to.
I know the fear of being alone is very real, but to me running to your parents really isn't helpful.

anyone else notice in Martha's instagram story, Ruby is the only one that doesn't have food
During my ED and subsequent “recovery” (I say this, because true recovery didn’t start until I left that world behind) I followed quite a lot of people on the tumblr/IG “recovery community” (nite continued use of air quotes!)

One girl in particular was obsessed with sharing photos of food, often elaborate, quite rich food and doing a very good speech about how she was conquering her fears and “showing ana who’s boss” (🤨 I can’t stand the word ana!)

She also had a sister who was quite big on IG, just not the recovery community (she posted about lifestyle/feminism and I really loved her content) a similar thing happened, where she’d share stuff on her stories of them all at a cafe, and everyone else would have milky coffees and cake - her sister would be there with a black coffee. Not even a milk jug in sight.

Yet a week earluer there was a post on her feed with a cappuccino, saying how she would never go back to black coffee… the point is: it’s very easy to curate what you want people to see on your own social media, but this can be so far from the truth.

One thing I have noticed in a few of Ruby’s videos now, is that she will have a breakfast of porridge/cereal and then the next clip will show her having toast for a ‘second breakfast’ or morning snack because she was “still hungry.” I really struggle to believe this.

mid be interested to see if she’s wearing the same outfit, because we know that she mixes around footage from different times/days and I widely suspect this is the case. I could be wrong, obviously, but it all reminds me too much of what this girl did; and many others, I must add! I just vividly remember her because of how performative her content seemed.

I also know that I said the same lies to my mother. When she picked me up from Uni one day, I would literally grab an empty wrapper of something to be holding as she walked in, to try and make out I’d just eaten it - utterly ridiculous! And foe anyone who might be reading and thinks that’s a “good idea” and aid their deception (Ruby included). Behaviour like that almost cost me my degree - well did, for the two years I had to take out.

Am I the only one that thinks Ruby doesn't have an ED? From the pictures she posts with her family and the ones of her in a wetsuit in Devon, she looks like a perfectly healthy 21 year old. She's probably not quite right in the head though in the sense perhaps she wishes she had an ED and puts up a persona around "having" an ED - i.e. ED baiting.
re: Ruby’s appearance, I agree with what someone else just wrote, that often what we talk about isn’t appearance related. Additionally, I want to highlight a specific area of her appearance that I often pick up on - and others do - which could be true at any weight! Her face, namely her eyes and skin.

One of the worst points out my own ED occurred when I was still a “healthy weight”. It was also a time when I looked particularly unwell- my parents’ words, not my own - and all of this was down to my face. My eyes were dead, my smile was so forced (very similar to what I see with Ruby now) and the bags under my eyes could hold Ruby’s entire library!

The starvation, alongside other behaviours at the time, showed. Conversely, when my weight was much lower many years later, but I was several weeks into proper recovery, my face looked so much healthier. I want to stress that this doesn’t mean “health” and I kept restoring weight until it was healthy again! But nourishment shows in more ways than the number on a scale.

Sorry to not be on topic with what you are all talking about, I've been away from Ruby for a few days, also I'm extremely drunk (I know ruby would hate me for even touching alcohol when it's not "a special occasion) " so I hope this makes sense ,I guess i'll find out later but I just want to say how thankful I am for these threads. If it weren't for you guys I honestly would had noticed so many things pointed out in these threads and would of thought of her how I did before, a nice, although a bit weird extremely orgranised and smart girl. There is s many things I'd never notice until people here pointed it out. I admit some things a bit nitpicky but other things disgust me, not just with her but how I didn't notice it myself before.

edit- would NOT had noticed if it weren't for thesd threads. and by nitpicky i mean i find them a bit nitpicky, not maybe they aren't in themselves.

I never feel like she loves reading for the enjoyment of reading,
I feel like she loves the aesthetic, the tag, the status it gives her when she can throw in “vintage” or “first edition” or show off her bookshelf.

Like she’d talk about pearls or lace in the same way as she would books.
it all feels so performative.
i would read and adore a tatty charity shop book with no ”history” or a book downloaded on a device just as much as a “10th century..... limited edition.... Victorian era..... etc, etc, etc” book

Her personality seems so. Empty. It’s all about appearance for social media

My thoughts on her new video that no one asked for lol:

1. Says that manufacturers make scissors in a way so that you need new ones in 5-10 years and because of that they’re not durable… Idk about you but 5-10 years is durable to me. I’m lucky if I manage not to lose scissors after 2 or 3 years.

2. That trunk has mold in it. Not very durable to me.

3. So she lost her scissors. I couldn’t have set up thought 1 more perfectly.

4. I hope she doesn’t whip out her ink and pen during lectures. I’m all for fun stationery but I feel there’s a time and place. I can just imagine her hitting the inkpot and getting ink everywhere. I don’t think she’ll take it to lectures obviously, but I wouldn’t put it past her.

5. She has her fake freckles in the first half of the video and then doesn’t have them in the next… obviously not just an outfit change. Just say you filmed on separate days dear Ruby.

6. Why does she always go on about how expensive something is when we know she has plenty of money?? It’s like a while ago when she was talking about a 20-pound book or something and now she’s talking about the screen protector. I understand not wanting to waste your money but I feel like she only says things are expensive so she doesn’t come off as well off… which she is. I don’t know why study tubers are so insistent on making it seem like they are struggling with money and whatnot when most are at least middle class. I feel like I'm coming off as rude haha.

I need to just stop questioning Ruby because she will never make sense - but did anyone else wonder why she just said ‘with some friends’ when I think the whole internet now knows who Blakeney and Molly are?
Yeah but they didn't pay her for an #ad slot so why would she mention their names?

She keeps harping on about sustainability throughout the video, which is almost entirely about buying things she already has. How is that sustainable?!

One thing I have never understood is Ruby's desk. It is small, oddly shaped (I think her father did it?) and messy, with stains, etc.. It isn't a very practical desk for a over-achiever, university student. There is little room to spread things out and even less for storage. Now she has that new chair which is far too low for her and it looks like her chin is the same height as the desk! Now I know why all this excess furniture has landed in her room with little practical purpose. She has to constantly move that table around because it is always in the way. Why not just shove the dang thing into the attic and be done with it....or some other random room in their house? If she has so much money, or her family does, why not splurge and get her a decent desk/work space? I loved my dorm room desk. So wide and deep. I ended up buying a large one that I still own because I like all that space for projects, be it study or art related. I could never work properly at such a confined space as her itty bitty desk. Because it matches that crazy itty bitty random shelf her father recently built? Why?? lol

Personally when I was trying to recover from an ED, I stopped being vegan - very gradually, like having honey and non-vegan stuff out if there wasn't a vegan option - because it was just another way to restrict, so I am kinda hopeful that she's doing that

I really am passionate about the topics I’m learning about at uni, but COME ON. I’ll start doing my work when and only when classes start again. Summer is meant for chilling and relaxing!
It’s a little different with literature, apparently some Oxford colleges require you to do the primary reading before term starts (so you’ll be re-reading during term, rather than encountering the text for the first time) and they may even give a test to make sure you’ve done it. However, 1) Oxford is Oxford and Roobee doesn’t go to Oxford (lol), 2) their terms are super short and the reading lists look formidable, and 3) Roobee is recommending that you do secondary reading (critical essays) rather than primary reading beforehand. Which makes no sense in any way that I can understand. But I’m guessing that’s where she’s taking her cues, her bestie Molly is currently working through a long reading list (somehow managing to do it while apparently enjoying her summer and doing unproductive stuff 🙃) and of course Roobee can’t be the second-best student in any group under any circumstances.

At the time when I clicked on the bookshelf tour video, the top comment is "Who needs therapy when you can binge watch Ruby's aesthetically pleasing videos." And Ruby liked it. Kind of indicative of how everything she says about mental health is just performative. (I know it's just a joke, but you all know what I mean.) When I started watching Ruby, I was in the midst of an eating disorder, and back then her content was not triggering for me at all. Now that I'm recovered, her channel is no longer safe and I have to remind myself that it isn't normal. She's disappointed me.

I'm new to this forum (have only been lurking for a week), and I was wondering if there has been discussion already about her comment section. It seems like _everything_ is positive, and given that this forum is so active, I find it kind of suspicious. There has to be more criticism from her viewers in the comments, right? Is she deleting negative comments? It's somehow hard to swallow that someone you looked up to as a young teenager is so performative, resistant to criticism, immature, and unaware. Sorry for the unproductive ramble haha

Edit: When did The Golden Compass become Northern Lights??? Also, unless it's changed too, it's HIS DARK MATERIALS not "The Northern Lights Trilogy". I'm sorry, I love those books too much to let anyone just have them sit on their shelf to look pretty and not actually read them...

I’m pretty sure the ”I did it all by myself” is lies. She keeps mentioning how the process of getting a mortgage took so long ”because I’m so young” (lol she likes to repeat that). There’s zero chance Daddy Bones didn’t co-sign. So yes, she may have paid the deposit from her savings (probably partly from funds her parents have been setting aside for her since birth) and she may be getting the mortgage payment covered from the exorbitant rent she’s charging (here’s hoping it stays vacant for a while lol, I just want nothing good for her rn), but no actual bank would give out a mortgage to an eighteen-year-old iNfLuEnCer where the monthly payment would be a significant percentage of their monthly income without some guarantee.

Or Blakeney and molly were already there and all they heard was hello its robeee
omg no this is so funny to think about. Paint the image in your minds. You’re at the exhibition with your friend and you’ve reached the part of it where it is dark so you can see the lights creating the display. You can breathe. Finally you have gotten to spend time with your friend in a chilled out way, without having roobee the influencer photographer. The exhibit is enjoyable and you’re having a really nice time!

And that’s when you feel it. A tap on your shoulder and a whisper in your ear from behind you. “hello it’s roobee…” you hear, the dreaded words you had escaped from. “isn’t it so lovely we could all be together! what a simply gorgeous exhibition! Do you like my outfit of the day? I’m doing a book look of Alice in Wonderland! Would you mind filming me twirling? its so aesthetic here it will make the perfect place to take pictures and film the videos! oh and I simply cannot go without posting an instagram story!”

and suddenly, the trip isn't so fun anymore!

Excuse me she founded multiple Holocaust memorials for underfunded schools duhh. The fact there's no trace of them doesn't mean she didn't do it - she's such a busy bee after all. Poor Roobee.
Also she's selling her old gifted clothes on depop not for the full price! 😇
In a few years, Ruby will make an announcement to reveal that the real Holocaust memorial was the friends we made along the way.
